Quick update. I have been coming here over 4-5 years and this place is just IT for my curly needs. Jen really take care of you and listens. The salon vibe is chill and artistic. I can't really say anything negative. I got to give them props for making me look amazing for my friend's wedding I stood out like a sore thumb. I had everyone asking me where I got everything done. I'm only writing this review so that Lauren (@KiyoKatsuu) can hopefully learn from this situation and become more communicative/professional to her future clients. I have been trying to get an appointment with her since May 1st. I messaged her on Instagram stating that I'm interested in booking an appointment with her as well as describing to her what I am looking for and my hair history. I provided multiple pictures and all the information needed for her to know because I understand the work and complexity it takes to dye someone's hair that has been previously colored/bleached from another hair colorist or by themselves. However, even after I provided her all the information she needed and asked for she takes days to respond or doesn't even view the message. She is also active enough on her business account to reply/see the messages I sent her since she's posting stories about men sliding into her dm's through her business account. The last time she replied back to me was May 11th. I replied May 12th and gave her the information she asked for. It's now May 18th and still haven't heard back from her even after a follow up message I sent on May 16th asking if she would be able to do my hair. I understand she might be busy, doesn't want to do my hair or maybe isn't at that skill level to do my hair (since she's a junior stylist) but the inconsistent communication and the unresponsiveness is unprofessional and misleading. If you're running a business that thrives from clientele I think it's important for you to be responsive and honest. I don't want to discredit her on her skills bc her work is clearly amazing which is why I did want to book with her in the first place. Unfortunately, in my case I wasn't able to get an appointment or even a response LOL! I also don't have the patience to wait anymore since it's been 2 weeks! Therefore, I hope Lauren learns to be more communicative with her present/future clients. read more

I recently tried Peridot for the first time because my previous hair stylist moved out of state. I found Lauren's instagram and booked a cut + gloss! She was so sweet and took time to discuss what she thought would look nice because I had some trouble articulating exactly what style I wanted. She absolutely had the vision though! I love my haircut & will be rebooking moving forward :') she even taught me how to trim my face-framing layers at home in case I wanted to, but I told her I'd leave that to the professionals lol. read more

I came in a little nervous about getting my hair colored for the first time. But knowing and trusting Sara with my cuts for at least 10 years, I knew she would do a great job and she definitely delivered! I wanted to cover my growing volume of grays with a natural look that was close to my original hair color. She matched it perfectly, brightened it up a bit, and listened when I said I loved my natural red highlights. Now My hair looks like what I remember from my early 20's! All the while sipping on my favorite beer (they have mimosas too:)! Peridot feels like you have stepped into your cool big sister's room and she's genuinely glad you are there. For one, I am very picky on getting my hair cut. It is April, and the last time I had my hair cut at all, was in the previous September. Before me birthday (May), I needed a fresh cut. I had found another salon that charged triple the cost for CURLY hair, than at Peridot salon. I'm so happy to have found Jen at Peridot! It's challenging to find a hairstylist who will truly allow my grey to show and do the correct highlight to enhance it, not cover it up. Jen listens to what you want AND asks about your daily habits and care. That is one of my favorite things about her! My appointment was confirmed not only after I booked but also the day before. Not only this but months earlier I made an appointment and it was canceled and they did not try to reschedule. When Sara Marie told me she was opening her own salon, I told her that I would follow her anywhere. She helped me grow out my pixie cut with style and ease, a year long process and fixed my color! I was referred to her by a work colleague that knew I was looking for someone to do my hair close to work. In fact, my round trip work commute is 100 miles Monday thru Friday, which gives me little time for myself. Finding a salon close to my office allowed me to enjoy a little me-time before a miserable commute home. But even if I didn't work close to Peridot, I'd still continue to go to Sara Marie.
