Let me start by saying I am the pickiest person on earth when it comes to my hair! I have had nothing but awful experiences and gave up on finding a stylist UNTIL I found Laura. I have been going to Laura for about 2 years now and this review is long overdue. Laura really takes the time to listen to my needs and complaints and gives me honest and solid advice. She doesn't just cut my hair to how she think it should look but rather listens to what I want. I know that sounds obvious but so many stylists do not listen. Laura will not follow through with you when it is important -- and she will not care and she will just never get back to you again. Run, don't walk away from this stylist. I had one pleasant deva cut with Laura and one follow up bang trim because the cut needed to be adjusted. She is overpriced but I invest in a stylist that is good for wavy hair and stay for the long term. Then I had an interaction with her that was terribly unprofessional and left me looking unprepared for a career defining interview, an opportunity that I won't have again. This is why I recommend that you avoid her at all costs. Her is what happened. Laura told me that the best way to contact her was through texts. I made an appointment through her online booking system for another deva cut in advance so that the appointment would land days before I had to fly across the coast for an important interview for which I had to look put together. As I approached that appointment, my hair had not grown out enough from my last appointment for a full cut. So, I texted her to downgrade to a bang and back trim which I still needed to look adequate for the interview. Here are the texts that we exchanged: me: 1.20: Hi, Laura can I cancel my full cut this week and schedule just a bang trim and very bottom of the neck trim? My hair hasn't grown enough yet, but have an important interview Thursday so I want to look neat. me: 1.22: Hi, I saw that you cancelled my full cut, thanks! Can I schedule a bang trim? Laura: 1.22: Hi, I'm sorry, someone took your spot and that makes me back to back with clients all day. If I have a couple of minutes to spare, I will have to use it to eat. Thanks for the heads up and good luck with your interviews. Laura Me: 1.22: I did ask when I cancelled, at the same time, to schedule a bang trim. I don't understand why you ignored that so that now I can't get in. And I mentioned at the same time that I had an interview so I wanted to get in. Which signaled that it was important. Laura just never -- that is right NEVER -- responded to me again. Bottom line, she will behave pleasantly, then rip you off when it matters. I cannot believe that she chose to just never respond to me after she failed to schedule an appointment that I requested when she knew that I had an important interview. She is the most unprofessional, expensive stylist that I have ever had the displeasure to waste an investment of time and money upon. read more

Laura's a great curl tech and educator. Assistant, Kaitlin, is a peach, as well. Not only was the cut and style fabulous, the conversation and curl education was as well. I found Laura after I colored my hair at a different salon and the hairstylist messed up the color it looked nothing like what I asked for. I then decided to look online for someone who knew what they were doing I typed in best hair color correction in south bay and her web page came up I looked thru her web page and made an appointment when she finished I absolutely loved my hair she did a great job I highly recommend her. I would call a salon and get the usual " we are professionals of course we know how to cut curly heir" yet it would end in a disaster. I found Laura by doing a Google search for hairdressers in the South Bay and followed that to her Yelp page and web page. I needed a stylist that was closer to my home (I am in the South Bay, and had been driving to Westlake Village for my other hairdresser). I had been procrastinating for years to find another hairdresser as finding a good one is no easy task! I am SO glad that I found Laura!
