Needed a new pool vacuum, my dolphin was 6 years old and stopped working. The people at the dolphin store in Plymouth charged us $40 to have it sit in their store for a few days for them to tell us to try it again and if it didn't work it's cooked. We were planning on buying another dolphin from them but decided they weren't very helpful and getting it repaired if needed in the future would be a headache. Very disappointed. Be aware if there are any issues - they will make it your problem. My above ground pool which I had 12 years with no issues was damaged by a storm. I selected Performance pool to do this. They installed it in October of 2023. The winterized it and put on the winter cover. The cover wouldn't stay on and they told me I should just put a bunch of stakes around the pool. The pool was good for the first season. I opened it in the spring of 2025 and the liner had pulled out. I had to drain it and then they charged me $400 to tuck it back in. This spring the same thing happened - it came out so I drained it and tucked it back in and started to refill it. The liner pulled out again while it was filling and I had a bigger mess(sand washed out from the pool base). Keep in mind - they installed the liner originally, they charged me to fix it a year later and it happened again. To me it would seem something is wrong. I hadn't heard anything back after multiple emails and calls and was going to try to fix it myself with I looked closer at the liner and it was peeling and had a couple small tears close to the top. I sent this info over and they finally got back to me saying they were going to retuck the liner and fix the sand but if I was concerned they could replace the liner at a cost of over $6K+. This was after I spent 18K+ to buy the pool originally. Because of all the issues I had I decided to pay for the replacement because I couldn't keep dealing with the liner pulling out and having to drain and refill the pool every spring. They did lower the price but it was still over 3K. the sales people seem helpful but once the pool is installed they won't do much other than pass along your concern. I had copied our sales guy on an email to the service person and was scolded for copying him on the email. The communication from the service team is terrible. I kept trying to get updates as to when they were going to be here to replace my liner and I received a text the morning of that they were on their way. If you buy from here - keep in mind - you will be paying for any issues you might have. After the sales and install I was going to give them 5 stars but there is no way I could recommend them to anyone. read more

Update: Reached out to Brandon which then redirected me to Mike to discuss options. They are now stating our landscape/drainage is the issue for causing the wrinkles and not installation. We have appointments set up with a few landscapers so we'll see where this goes. read more

Initially, Devin walked into my backyard, took one look at the pool cover and told me I would need to purchase a new cover.. I recently took over my father's home who passed away and the thought of purchasing a new cover on top of it all was mortifying... Then, Troy approached the scene and got to work! He put the cover back on the track and even patched a little hole in the cover. He proceeded to clear out the pool cover box and do so without any complaints!!! It's unfortunate that some people in this company bring down the entire place. I have had nothing but the most helpful people when I go into the store.....BUT, you better hope something doesn't break because their service department is absolutely awful! I have called numerous times and sent many emails. I was told by Alex Babcock that "they were trying to locate replacement parts." This is a bunch of crap because I was just trying to get someone out to my house to look at my pool motor (purchased from Performance Pool & Spa). That last contact with Mr. Babcock was over a month ago and now he just avoids all calls and emails. This is unfortunate because I was told by the people in the store this is the only thing I can do. 3 years ago we selected Performance to put in our pool. Biggest mistake ever. It's been one problem after another. Nothing has gone smoothly. Leak in our liner within first month. Huge cracks in concrete that 3 years later we are still dealing with. Terry, owner, never calls us back we have to call him. I would never treat a customer that way. Have no idea how these guys are still in business. Justin in service department is great however. Our weekly service was our only saving grace. They did a good job in that area but that's it. read more

I called Performance Pool to see availability & price to re-rope my auto cover on my pool. Justin told me it was $799. I said that was more than what I've paid the past 16 years with other pool companies. I've had to re-rope my auto cover at least 10 times. I decided to give this company a try, he said he needed a credit card to schedule an appointment. They came out 6/5/18 and serviced my pool. I received the bill from Performance Pool on 6/15/18, shocked to see the total of $999, which was $200 more than the agreed amount. On 6/16/18 Justin and I spoked, I inquired what the $200 extra charge of Sewing Labor was for as the agreed amount was $799. I've had this done over 10 times and no other company has charged a Sewing Labor. I never approved this charge, nor would I. Justin said if I was home they could of asked me, I told him I was home and went out to talk to the service person twice. We had two discussions, I even told him if he needs me I am in the house. The agreed price was $799 to re-rope my Auto Cover and happy to pay that price, but the extra charge of $200 for sewing labor was not disclosed or agreed on. He then repeatedly threatened me that he will come to my house and take my ropes out and charge me a $180 service charge. I responded by telling him it's illegal to trespass on my property. Also, it makes no sense for him to be losing money since the ropes could not be reused on another pool. Again, I reiterated I'm more than happy to pay the agreed amount of $799, but not the additional $200. 1) I made myself available to the Service Tech, he could've made direct contact with me and asked for my approval but he didn't. 2) In my mind, it's customary to contact owner and approve additional charges as it is my right to approve or disapprove additional charges. 3) Performance Pool was not there any longer than any other pool company who has re-roped. 4) It was very unprofessional of them to threaten to come to my property and rip out my ropes just because I objected to a charge that wasn't disclosed or approved. 5) I'm happy to pay the agreed amount of $799, but I am disputing the extra $200 that was never disclosed nor approved by me. read more

If there was a ZERO stars rating that's what I would give. The service department is horrible with customer service and communications. The telephone number provided always goes to a voicemail. When instructed on voicemail or email to call a certain telephone number, they end up calling the WRONG number. They advised it would take 2-3 days to repair a leak in my pool. It ended up taking longer than 3 weeks. They came out and to demo and replace the parts. Charged my card the next day. And left two holes dug up around my new skimmers for 2 weeks. We tried calling numerous times but kept getting the run around about how busy they were. After they came back to fill the concrete, the fuse for the pump died. We replaced it ourselves and couldn't get the pump working right. We asked them to come back since it worked BEFORE they did any repairs on it. Turns out the valves were in the wrong position. They charged me $100 to turn the valves on. If I am paying someone $3500 to fix my pool, I expect the pool to be running before they leave. This was not the case. Unbelievable for the last charge! I am very disappointed and frustrated with this company. My pool was out of service for all of July and part of August. I would not recommend going through Performance Pools and Spa ever. I will never get service through them again! Update: PPS tried to reach out to me. They said they are unable to remove the last service charge but can only take $20 off. Also, after all the repairs and $$, I still have a leak! Water leaking 1 1/2 inch a day. $377.18 for the air test to tell me I have leaking skimmers. $3240 for parts and labor $99 to turn on valves because pump wasn't working. $3686.19 total to have my pool closed for 1 month and still have a leak faster than before the repair. UNBELIEVABLE! 9/7/16 Hi "Mikayla M". I do indeed still have a leak. The $20 was never credited to my account for that last charge. I am going through someone else for repairs. The epoxy that was applied on the "24th" only slowed the leak but did not repair it. Losing 3 inches in 2 weeks. Water stops below the skimmers. read more

Terrible experience.  Worst service received from any Minnesota company - and that goes for pre-purchase, in the store, and even after sale. Do not go to Performance Pool if you can avoid it. Here is what happened:  We have an above-ground pool  in Jordan, Minnesota, and were interested in buying a pool treatment system that would maintain water quality and sanitation, as well as limit algae growth.  We confirmed with Performance that they carried the system we wanted before driving the 40 minutes there from Jordan.  They assembled the components, and twice we asked "Is this all we will need?", to which they replied "Yes. That's all. You have everything you'll need."  We got home to learn they had only sold us pool sanitizers and the like but had not even given us the necessary dispenser for everything - the key component -  meaning we'd spent $200 for nothing and wasted our time with a 1hr and 20 minute roundtrip.  We called them back, and after an exchange, they promised on Monday, July 3, that they would order what we in fact had needed in the first place, and that it would be in on Wednesday, July 5.  They would call us on Wednesday, they said.  We received no phone call on Wed, or on any other day from them.  When we called them yesterday, Saturday, they had not even ordered the promised dispenser at all.  In asking why they never called us, they claim to have ordered the wrong part as though that explained why they didn't bother even to tell us that. Totally non-responsive. We drove the 40 minutes back there again just yesterday to return everything, given the lack of customer service or concern.  The treatment in the store at that time was even worse, if you could imagine.  The salesperson(Ted) told us to "Just order it from Amazon", after expressing a high degree of indifference to the service we'd received and the time they had wasted.  He could not have had a  more sarcastic tone.  The manager (Jack) was standing right there when the salesperson sarcastically told us to order from somewhere else, said nothing/did nothing, and neither one of them so much as offered to put in a re-order(not that we would have wanted it from them anyway).  The final insult came when the salesperson swiped our credit card for the refund, and no kidding, literally tossed it over the counter at us. We felt this business surely has an owner who ought to care about this kind of dis-service, but for our part, we will never come  there again and will never recommend them to anyone.  Terrible performance.  Terrible service read more

I do most of the work on my pool myself except for closing. I had PPS close the pool last year (Oct./2015) as I have since they installed the pool. 1 month prior to closing I cleaned my filters to get things ready for close. This spring I opened my Filter housing and found 4-5 lbs of ground up debris in the housing that was from a nearby tree in my yard. Needless to say the pump needed replacement along with various other components. Now how did the debris (non-edible fruit) and in such a large amount get past the covers/baskets and into the filter, especially since I had just cleaned the filters? In the 12 years I've had the pool and the tree I've never had this happen, honestly, no way for it to occur. If, however, the pump filter basket was removed and the fruit fed into the pump housing and the pump turned on this would account for it. This task would have had to been performed repeatedly to account for the quantity of debris. I now no longer use them for anything and have installed security cameras to prevent this type of vandalism. read more

Had a service man come out to close pool I told him my electric cover is not working so I may have to get in the pool to put the back plug in for him. He decided upon himself to crank back my cover and causing it to tear. They will not get back to me . The one time I talked to Alex he said there was no way they could have done this. I am waiting for a call back from the Mgr Mike. Hopefully he will get back to me today. read more
