I'm new to Lake County and got some work done here. They seem like they do solid and honest work.

Tried to call and number out of service. Tried website and got 404 error. Out of business in August 2025 apparently.

I have used Performance European for years including for 2nd opinions about what dealers say is needed. Dave has save me thousands. He has long-tenured staff that really know their craft and are incredible efficient. That also saves money since they charge by actual hours rather than the inflated book rate that almost everyone else uses. I sleep better working with Dave and his staff. read more

They not only repaired my Lexus SC430 but they spent hours diligently researching the best solution to repair my car. I brought my MINI Cooper S Hardtop here after another shop worked on the brakes/rotors and didn't feel right afterwards. Dave and Jonathan went above and beyond to get me in before I needed to leave for a trip and they thoroughly went over and diagnosed the related systems. Dave was straightforward and honest and his shop ultimately ended up finding and fixing the issue. I use Dave (owner) for all my service needs for our two Mini Coopers and BMW x1. They are all highly skilled due to requirements for these cars. I just recently had a new radiator installed as well as a transmission service. They went above and beyond in this service as they noticed my front and rear wipers needed replacing and replaced them Free of charge as a courtesy and after I inquired about my center console being loose or broken Dave realized it had just come undone and repaired it for me at No Charge!! I brought my car in and they completely fucked something up now I'm fucked paying even more than I started with than before when I brought the car and they were treating me disrespectfully the whole time because I kept asking questions because I don't understand what they are saying I recently went through a few seizures so my brains messed up so I don't understand and they were completely disrespectful to me saying that I was bothering them and bombarding them with questions that I was wasting their time. How was I wasting their time if I'm a paying customer? so I brought my husband in and the tone changed completely they treated him with respect, answered all his questions,and the tone of the situation changed. Worst customer service ever! Would not recommend going alone if you're a female...or maybe they just treat certain females with so much disrespect. read more

I moved to Lake county from Bay Area a few years ago and it was a challenge to find a mechanic I could trust. I am so glad I found Dave and Performance European. Dave and his staff have outstanding customer service skills in addition to being true car repair pros. Here are some of the things that make me feel so enthusiastic about their repair service: They always make sure that I agree to the repair and estimate before starting the job, I was never charged unexpected amounts, they only do the jobs that need immediate attention but give lists of things that will need to be taken care in the future, I can always budget my car maintenance needs, they are always upfront about the condition of my car, once I became a regular customer they went out of their way to accommodate my schedule, and last but not least they have a great sense of humor. My elderly Volvo had a clogged fuel line that caused the car to stall on steep hills. After trying every mechanic in Clearlake, I contacted Performance European. Their receptionist was very kind and helpful; I wish I could say the same for Dave the mechanic, who, after first agreeing to let me bring my car in the next day, changed his mind and said it would take "at least a month". It's good that Performance European is so swamped with business that they can be choosy about their customers; however, the message I received on my answering machine was incredibly, monumentally rude. It would have been vastly preferable to simply state that they weren't interested in dealing with my car, since the difference between "no one will look at your car for a month, minimum" and "no one will look at your car, ever" is largely academic. read more

The staff at Performance European are the best! The only place I take my Jaguar and Alfa Romeo. From the owner to the office manager they are great! Quality repair work, attention to detail, and conscientious follow up are hallmarks of their shop. I can always depend on Dave Borg or Doug his mechanic to troubleshoot and solve the problem, sometimes actually making the needed part and Amber is unfailing in her dedication to making sure correct parts are ordered, work is scheduled and customers are updated on the status of their car repairs. Husband and I are new in town and we needed some A/C work on our Volvo. EP came highly recommended and we were highly impressed with the experience and professional operation of this business. I noticed there were many high end cars such as a Ferrari, MB Audi, on the property. Dave did a very thorough assessment of the problem. He also provided us with a detailed explanation and estimate of the needed work. I have been employed in my family's self employed business (HVAC) and was very impressed with the overall operation and workup My husband works at the local hospital in Lakeport and numerous individuals told him that we would have excellent service and work at EP. I own a Volvo, and I called EP to see if they would look at my car. I got "Dead Silence." When I asked them if they indeed worked on European cars he said they did, but "Volvo's" wasn't something he 'really' wanted to work on. Being a bit in shock regarding how to respond to this, I mumbled; "Uh...so, I guess... Uh, I'll call around then...ok." The guy I spoke with (who sounded young) said, (unbelievably) " ..Yeah ok, take care.." Click...and Im thinking...'What a trip' ! Found a local shop in Lakeport, who didn't necessarily even work on foreign cars, but THEY took the work. That place has done a heck of a job, and made over $1400.00 between my Volvo (but see, I liked their work/ethic - on time, no hassles, and simply knowing how to speak to someone) and my Ford I brought them - for another $500+ in work. And a reminder; just because it's Lake County doesn't mean we are all, "toofless-n-zitty-n-un-educated." Learn some manners when you speak to people! If you can not help them, possibly point them in a direction of someone who can (try to at least act as if you temporarily care for the person on the other end of the phone who has called YOU looking for help - respect that). It boggles my mind when I hear of others complaining that another business is shutting their doors because a lack of support from this community....well hell's bell's...I wonder why? I understand EP has a solid business (you've been in the same place for what, 15-20 yrs now?), I just cant understand why I was treated like that? I/we have never graced your establishment before, and doubt we would ever try again. And that's a bummer because you folks are the only European auto-shop in the area. So what I cant get my new guy to do; Im forced to go to Santa Rosa (which then also takes $ out of the community) to the dealer, or one of the EU shops there....see, crappy customer service hits harder than you think in a small town - food for thought longtime resident of Lakeport, CA read more
