Now in walks Bodybar Pilates and I feel like Mr. Pilates is on drugs. This ish is more challenging than what I'm used to. Oof! I sighed up for the free introductory class and attended one night after work. The process to check in was easy and the young girls working gave me the lowdown on the place and sent me off to workout. I did the classic Pilates class with Diane. She knew I was a newbie so she showed me how to adjust the reformer and tips for the class and she checked on me often to see if I was hanging in. The workout was pretty fast paced and I hung for most of it and took small breaks when needed. I haven't had a good workout like that in a long time. Flash forward to a month later and I am a member. Surprisingly this uptown location is cheaper than my place in Lakewood. You can book all your classes on the app. I haven't tried anything other than the classic, but will definitely branch out. There is free parking in the parking garage to the left of Pilates. Pay attention or you'll miss it. It's confusing too because there is an apartment attached to the garage so you may get stuck on a floor where you'll end up walking up a ramp. That would only happen to me I'm sure though. Otherwise find street parking! When you walk in you will check in to class on the iPad. Then set your belongings in the cubbies. Bring your grip socks and be prepared to crush it (at your own speed) for 50 minutes.

The decor was super chic as well, and it felt so lovely to be there. I took the Reformer class with Gabby, and I really enjoyed the entire class. I typically take megaformer classes, but Bodybar was a fun way to switch it up. While I found it to be a little bit easier than a megaformer class, it was still a challenging and fun class that consistently burned out my muscles. I especially loved the lunge-lift move that made it feel like I was flying. :) I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in town!

One of my friends got her brows done, and by the way, they looked fabulous and tagged the business in her photo. I was already on the hunt for a new brow specialist, which has been very difficult because I'm very particular, and who I normally go to is one of the best in the city. However, the commute was inconvenient, and I wanted someone closer. I originally booked my appointment for Thursday, and somehow, my mind has been going 90 mph, and I arrived promptly the day before. Now I know I am not the only one that has experienced this; LMAO! Kindly enough, I was greeted by the owner herself, Jaime, who was able to proceed with my appointment. I booked a Brow Sculpt that included shaping and mapping of the brow, followed by applying a henna tint for $75. With proper care, the tint can last up to 4 to 6 weeks. As a first-time client, I received a discount, which was an amazing perk! And the finished look of my brows exceeded my expectations. Jaime was so kind and accommodating and really embodied top-tier customer service. I can wait until my next appointment, which will be microblading. This beauty bar offers additional services like body wax and sculpting, tanning, lashes and hair styling. The location can be a little tricky. They are right across the street from the new Starbucks; however, please don't park in that lot. There is plenty of street and neighborhood parking. 10 out of 10 I recommend! I received a haircut as a Mother's Day gift, and it was the worst salon experience I have ever had. During the haircut with Annette, over three inches of my hair was cut off, despite my explicit request to maintain the length. I asked for fluffy, face-framing with lots of layers, but the result was nothing like the inspiration photos I provided. As this was my first haircut in eight years at an actual salon, I was very upset. I cried on the way home and spent my Mother's Day extremely upset about all the length that was cut off after I had spent over a year regrowing it since cutting it postpartum and had finally got it back to a length where i felt like myself again. When I contacted the salon to request a refund, I was met with resistance. I contacted their salon through their Business Instagram and got ZERO response. Their website lacks a clear refund policy, only stating a 50% cancellation fee (which i asked if they could honor so i could get some money back but they refused) there was NOTHING discussing any return policy through services provided. Initially, they didn't offer any refund at all and just for me to come in and "fix" it, when the damage was already done. Then offered barely a refund of the tip and blowout cost, totaling $34, which they confirmed multiple times over the phone after me asking . However, I only received $23 back. Upon calling to inquire about the discrepancy, the staff was incredibly rude. Throughout all our interactions, including when I initially messaged their Instagram page (which received no response), the customer service was consistently poor. There was no apology offered at any point. On the phone they told me it was my fault because I did the math wrong on the amount to be refunded even though I clarified the amount on the original call and they agreed. After this I told them I would be leaving a review and to which the manager Jamie replied "okay see you on google" and hung up the phone. Overall, this was an awful experience marked by a drastic, unwanted haircut and appalling customer service. I cannot recommend this salon to anyone and I will NEVER be coming here again. I wish I could leave a zero star review because I don't even feel as though they deserve one. There are laminated signs everywhere with instructions & rules everywhere. Many of the jets in the pool were broken & the steam room was out of order. However, the facilities were very well kept, they were constantly cleaning. There's a wide selection of food & a ton of seating. I like that there's a movie theater room. And the price is $25 cheaper than Spa Castle. I still enjoyed myself. Two tips: 1) Save $8 by going to Super Komart just down the street & buying a pass for just $42 if you pay in cash. 2) Bring socks! The floors of several of the sauna rooms are very hot. Shoes are not allowed but socks are. You should also bring your own towel for the water park. The complimentary ones are hand towels.

FYI ramyun is the cheapest thing on the menu at the Korean place on the top floor & while it was good, it was clearly just instant ramyun that they charged $12 for. Next time I think I will just spring for something a little pricier. Couple of tips: It's both cheaper to go on weekdays & much less crowded. I would bring a change of clothes to wear under your robe. That way if you decide to go to the pool first, you can change out of your swimsuit to do saunas later. (Although plenty of folks just wear their swimsuit to the sauna!) Some folks say to bring a towel, but know they do provide full size towels & you can get fresh ones as needed in the locker room. If you plan to be there all day, I also recommend bringing a charger!

I realized I was being included in her recording and asked her to please stop because I did NOT consent to being filmed. Instead of simply respecting my request, she told me that I had an "attitude problem." She then went to the concierge and apparently received permission from a staff member to continue recording. She actually came BACK to where I was, started recording me again, told me, "I can keep recording," and called me "Karen." At that point, this no longer felt like someone casually taking a video at a spa. I felt deliberately targeted and humiliated. She also made a point of telling me that she gets "millions of views." I honestly don't care whether someone has 10 views or 10 million. Being popular on social media does not make another paying guest's discomfort irrelevant. What makes this experience especially disappointing is Spa Castle's response. I spoke with management and was told they could not make her delete the video. I understand that management may have limitations regarding someone's personal phone, but I cannot understand why a guest who had already been told directly that I did not want to be recorded was apparently allowed to return and continue filming and confronting me. I paid to come to a SPA--to relax and feel comfortable. Instead, I felt exposed, embarrassed, and completely unsupported. I was so overwhelmed by the entire interaction that I cried there, and then sat in my car afterward crying again. I can't remember the last time a business experience made me feel this humiliated. Spa Castle seriously needs a clear filming policy. There is a huge difference between taking a photo or video of yourself and deliberately continuing to record another guest after that person has specifically asked you to stop. People come to a spa expecting some level of comfort and relaxation. Nobody should have to wonder whether they're going to become unwilling content for somebody else's social media account. I'm incredibly disappointed with how this was handled.

I have never ever liked to exercise until I was introduced to the Bar Method and the amazing staff at the Plano location. The Bar Method has helped me to gain strength and improve my overall fitness while accommodating, previous injuries (knee and foot). And somehow, this workout never gets easier or routine. The stronger I get the more I'm able to engage my muscles and benefit from the workout. And the class formats and moves are always being updated so there's always something new.
