I've been a member of this gym since they opened the Fall of 2023…read more There's a lot to love about the gym: - I've never had to wait for a squat rack, a bench, or any equipment -the equipment is well maintained - open early/ close late, open most holidays (for abbreviated hours) - friendly staff - very clean There are a few critiques: - every few months they will completely rearrange the gym, it's not entirely clear why and sometimes it's not for the better - it feels like there's a lot of money invested in things that don't improve the membership experience (murals, a lot of furniture, expansion into a second floor to come, member promotions/ events like an open house with IV fluids during a time of critical IV fluid shortage) - and it comes at a cost. there was a founding member rate that was good for a year, but none to follow. They also don't offer similar corporate/ hospital employee discounts that many of the other surrounding gyms do. The membership is pretty steep at $190 per month I wish there was a way to opt out of some of the extra features that I don't use (classes, a golf simulator, etc) and pay a lower fee for membership

No one videoing themselves doing a push up which is also refreshing. If you live or work in the area, I highly recommend Bodyscapes. Hard to find gyms with this level of service anymore.

Lately, we've been accepting too many, or too many people have been accepting us, and the facilities can't keep up. I've seen this happen with the library and the student centers too. Aside from that, Marino is a really great college facility. It's one of the newer buildings on our campus. The bottom floor has a large space with many tables to study and/or eat, and is connected to an Au Bon Pain, a Boloco, and a Wollaston's (Northeastern's "grocery store"). There's also a spin studio, but you have to be signed up for a class in order to use it. You need your student ID to swipe into the gym. No other ID will do. Once you get in, you exchange your ID for a lock in order to put your stuff in the locker room. If you try to go up to the gym with a bag of any sort, the staff will stop you and make you lock it up. I've always wondered why there isn't an in and out door for each locker room. There's only one door to enter and exit, which makes it difficult in the busy times of day. I'm constantly waiting for people to come out and holding the door, or hitting people who are coming in while I'm trying to get out. If they ever remodel, this would be the first thing I'd suggest. The actual locker rooms aren't bad. Lots of space, a sauna, showers, and a scale. Nothing too fancy. The second floor is home to cardio equipment, free weights, two classrooms for group fitness, and a large gym that is usually split into three sections for basketball, field hockey, and a free space. The third floor has a bit more cardio equipment, but it's mostly machines. There's a separate room for big buff people to use. There's also an elevated track for running, walking, or whatever you'd like. Each semester, I sign up for group fitness. It's $50 for the entire semester, and you can take up to one class a day, every single day. It's a really great deal. Recently, my roommate has become an instructor here, so I'm even more motivated to take classes. They offer a range, from beginner cardio and abs, to a more advanced HEAT (high energy athletic training). If you're a student at Northeastern, I suggest you check it out. The facility is nice, always clean, and staffed well. There are always clean, warm towels to grab on your way up and down, which is a nice touch. They have a nice array of machines, and the group fitness option is great. I just wish they would expand a bit, because finding a treadmill at 5:00pm on a weeknight is almost impossible.

I primarily come for the classes. It is not a huge gym but it does what it does pretty well and seems to have a slightly lower cost to coincide with its smaller size. My employer subsidizes the membership so I pay a pretty low fee. I think even the full price is a pretty good deal. Why do you need 10 of machine X? You can only use one at a time. My only complaint is that occasionally classes at the most popular time of the week get a little bit crowded. But the classes are otherwise a good enough value that they don't lose a star for it in my opinion.

The space is just way too small which can make your workout a bit complicated. For example, there's no dedicated space to do sit-ups or push-ups. You have to do your best to find some space in between the weight machines to lay down a mat. This can get a bit difficult during the busy lunch hour. Another odd quirk about this gym is that they make you pay an extra fee to use towels. I've been a member of many different gyms and this is the first time I've experienced such a thing. If you can deal with the cramped atmosphere and tone out the close company during the lunch hour you might be able to sneak in a quick midweek workout in this tiny space.

This is one way for me to stay healthy, especially to balance my big appetite. :P This gym is opened to all students at Tufts Med/Dental/PHPD 7 days a week. The gym has around 7-8 treadmills, 5 ellipticals, two free weight stations, 6-8 bicycles, and other machines. There is also a small fitness room to do some stretches and sit ups. Even though the size of this gym is not too big, I never had any trouble dealing with wait time or anything. The hours are pretty flexible so you can definitely squeeze in gym time even though you have a busy schedule. There are 3 TVs hung on the wall and I always change it to the Food Network while I run. :) The locker and shower rooms are right outside and they do a good job on keeping it clean.

I'm not alone in observing this. A group of us have been trying to avoid Mike. The staff I've known for quite some time either feel the same way or just silently smirked (for fear of getting in trouble). Unless Wave replaces this good for nothing manager with someone that actually has some minimal basic decency as a human being, let alone sufficient enough be the manager of a reputable gym in Seaport, members and its staff will rush out and seek the many other gyms in the area.
