EYELID 2 DAMAGE
Prissi C.

Made an appointment for my 3 dogs - one dog needed a full groom, one needed a sanitary cut, and the other just a bath. The owner Lisa quoted me $185 for all 3 of my pups and included additional cost for matting because I advised her up front that my pup for groom was severely matted all over and my pup for sanitary cut had bad mattes under her ears and on the backs of her legs. Appointment day rolls around and my experience started off terribly from the jump. The woman opening that day was over 30 minutes late. When she FINALLY arrived, she had her own dog running loose behind the counter and it was bouncing up and down like a ping pong ball so I asked her if it is always loose and hyper when there are customers' dogs there for grooming. She immediately got rude demanding, "Why? Is your dog aggressive?!" I told her, "No, he will not bite, but if your hyperactive dog jumps on his face, he will growl to let her know that she's invading his personal space as he's older and doesn't like that." She refused to listen and when her dog jumped on mine's face, he growled, her dog cowered away, and my dog walked away to sniff around. He NEVER even bared his teeth at her dog, but the woman insisted I place him in a separate area fenced off from other dogs. I immediately accommodated her request although I felt it ridiculous as her dog was out of control and untrained. I then brought in my two small dogs and went over in detail with two different employees exactly what needed to be done for each. They both repeated it back to me so I went to work with the understanding that my dogs would be taken care of as requested. Sometime later in the morning, I received a call from Lisa that the groomer had nicked one of my dog's eyelids when attempting to cut off a mat, but that it wasn't serious and was no longer bleeding. As I have worked in several veterinarian clinics that offered grooming services, I was understanding because I know that these are living animals that move and accidents happen and she said it was JUST A NICK. A few hours later, I get a text message from the owner that there is another issue with another one of my dogs and they were not going to finish her groom. I called immediately to find out what the problem was and, after speaking with the owner, she agreed to finish the sanitary cut as discussed. However, when I arrived at 4:30 to pick up my dogs, my American Bulldog (bath only) had been cut on his ear and quikstop (the stuff used when a dog's nails are cut too short) was used to stop the bleeding. My "double-coated" long-haired dachshund (sanitary cut only) had been shaved down nearly to her skin, completely ruining her coat and making her unable to heat and cool her body properly. The worst was the nick that wasn't just a nick. My dog's eye was still bleeding when I picked her up as they nearly cut her eye lid completely OFF! To add insult to injury, the owner actually had the audacity to charge me MORE than we initially agreed upon saying that the injuries happened to my dog's because of my neglect. I didn't want to end up in jail for assualt so I threw the $200 across the counter and left with my traumatized dogs. Not only should Lisa have waived all charges, she should have paid the vet bill for my dog that they nearly blinded. Vet told us they were less than 1mm from blinding her in that eye. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN PERMANENTLY!!!!!!

Thank you Austin and company. Dogs look and smell amazing. Charlie's is your biggest fan. Appreciate your services and demeanor with our pups.

The owner agreed to pay for the injured dog's vet bills. That is a helpful positive step and a sign of someone who cares.

My 3 year old dogs have never been to the groomers before and were very nervous. Lisa was great with them. I will definitely be going back.

I used to recommend this place to everyone. Not anymore…read more After three years of loyal business and bringing both of my dogs here, what I experienced recently was completely unacceptable. I dropped off my senior dog, who's nearly 12 and has severe anxiety, for a scheduled grooming. An hour later, I got a call saying they couldn't groom him because he didn't have his updated rabies documentation.... which is completely understandable. What's not acceptable is that they let him sit in a cage for an hour before contacting me, fully knowing they wouldn't be grooming him. If the paperwork was missing, why not send him home when he was being dropped off. When I asked, calmly, why he had to sit there for an hour unnecessarily, the staff member on the phone was rude and condescending. No real answer -- just attitude. I had someone pick him up immediately. Meanwhile, they went ahead with grooming my younger dog. I had given very clear, written instructions: bath, haircut, and anything else she needed. When I picked her up, it was obvious she had only been bathed : not groomed. I asked why nothing had been trimmed on her back or ears or butt, and they told me, "We only did her feet and belly because some clients get upset when we do too much." Seriously? If I wanted a foot and belly trim, I would've written that. I wrote "haircut." This is the second time I've paid for a haircut and received a glorified bath. But even that wasn't the most upsetting part. I've been coming to this location for three years -- and I didn't recognize a single staff member that day. It looked like a team of overwhelmed, disinterested kids who didn't want to be there. One girl was elbowing a dog on the grooming table to hold it down while another shouted at it to stop moving -- clearly frustrated and rough. They didn't even realize I was standing there, watching. To top it off, my senior dog was just in two weeks ago for a nail trim -- no one asked for rabies documentation then. So what changed? Honestly, it felt like they just didn't want to bother with a larger, older dog who requires more time and patience. Then the icing on the cake: later that day, my boyfriend got an email saying we were unprofessional -- and that they'd no longer be accepting our elderly dog. Not both dogs. Just the one that requires more effort. That told me everything I needed to know. This place used to be professional, trustworthy, and kind. Not anymore. What I witnessed was chaotic, careless, and borderline abusive. I'm heartbroken and disgusted. I will never be bringing my dogs here again -- and I wouldn't recommend anyone else trust them with theirs either.

Pet Supplies Plus is a national chain of pet supplies stores founded in 1988 in Redford, Michigan…read more It is privately held. It is the third largest specialty pet food retailer in the US after PetSmart and Petco. The company began adding franchise locations in the Midwest, expanding into the northeastern and southern states during the late 1990s. There are over 560 Pet Supplies Plus stores in 36 states. I walked in looking for a specific wet cat food that I needed to get for a neighbor, but the did not have it. Still, the store has a large selection of pet food for dogs and cats. It's smaller than a PetSmart, so the selection is a bit limited, but they do offer the most common brands and items.

There were 2 dogs already there. Owner was upset. I went home to wait for the call to pick her up. No call by 3pm (5 hrs later) so I called, no answer. I waited for a bit then drove to shop. My dog was in the front section still not groomed. Was told that bc we were late she would be groomed after all the others and to come back at 5. I left the shop but thought about it and went back in - couldn't leave my dog in that small area for 7 hours. I believe that was a cruel punishment directed at me for arriving late but it was my dog who had to suffer (no water, in a cramped space). Still upset. Not to be reflected on SOS - they are all wonderful animal guardians.

The woman charged my mother an additional 30 dollars to the grooming fee as a "late fee". When I spoke with the woman why she charged an additional 30 dollars without telling us there was a late fee, she insisted that she did inform us. I showed her multiple text messages that stated the time and arrival and approximate pickup. But no where did it say that if we were late picking up we would be charged $30 fee. She continued to argue with both my mother and myself. I understand we were a little late and I can understand $5-10 charge but $30! She then yells at me and says, "your mother does this all the time! It's like she thinks the dog lives here or something!" She was completely disrespectful and unprofessional. Not only was the price outrageous but the work she does is not good. I have provided a picture of the dog right after grooming. What a huge disappointment. Do not bring your dog here unless you want an argument and poor grooming.

Your dog gets a little cubby for their leashes and spends the day with a supervised "pack" that seems mostly the same each week. We lived in RI last year, and he LOVED, LOVED, LOVED going to Ruff Life 2x a week for daycare. I would get him in the car at 7am and say "we're going to camp" and he would stare out the window and pant the entire way there. Once there, he would drag me up the ramp and into the house. When I picked him up at the end of the day, all the dogs would bark out a goodbye, and while I knew he was glad to see me (and exhausted from all the fun), I also knew he would miss his pals until the next day. Sadly, I quit my job so camp needed to end, but if we ever wind up back in the area, he is going right back to Ruff Life. What I loved about it was that everyone there was really nice, greeted him by name each day with a hug, and he never smelled "doggie" at the end of the day, which many places smell like.
