My hound isn't keen on being bathed, but most of the time she stands very nicely and lets me wash her without trying to run away. I always wash and groom her myself, because she's a low maintenance kind-of-a-girl, but obviously the same can't be said for some longer-haired breeds.
My friend took her ridiculously woolly Old England Sheepdog Max here for its first professional cut and groom when it was barely out of puppyhood, and she was full of trepidation in case he hated being bathed, and developed a grooming phobia - which would be disastrous with such a furry breed.
