When my dog decides to wallow like a pig in a pool full of mud I just shampoo her myself, and dry her off with a towel - and being a greyhound she's pretty clean and low maintenance, with a very short coat.
My friend, on the other hand, has a far higher maintenance pedigree pooch which she sends off to Clare at Shampooch Groomers in Whitchurch fairly regularly. They'll pick up your dog in their adapted van, and their services are council approved. They are well equipped with a workshop space fitted out specifically for the purpose of dog grooming, and they also offer doggie day care and longer home boarding for when owners go on holiday.
They can groom to breed standards (for those, unlike me, who have pedigrees) and to your own preferences (for example some people prefer their dogs to keep their feathering, whilst others prefer to remove it to prevent matting!).
It costs my friend about £26 for her dog to be bathed, brushed, clipped and have her nails trimmed, and she's always been very happy with the results. read more
