Firstly, and most obviously, I get to go and enjoy the cute animals they have there. My favourites are the guinea pigs and the Roborovski hamsters, and I can quite easily spend a good hour in there debating whether my landlord would notice if I bought one. I am eternally disappointed that there are no mice here, but any cute animals will amuse me well enough. Secondly, since I miss my cats and dog so much, and feel pretty bad for abandoning them, I regularly pop in to buy them treats and toys to take home with me. My only complaint is that this branch (perhaps it's the same at all Pets at Home branches?) don't sell the dog food I buy (Harrington's), so I still have to pick that up elsewhere. For pick 'n' mix dog treats, squeaky toys, and accessories such as shampoo, bowls, leads and collars, however, Pets at Home has far more choice than most smaller pet shops. The staff all seem real animal-lovers, and if you take your dog in with you they often ask if they can give it a treat or two. Just be prepared for your dog to get into a right frenzy over all the food smells luring them from aisle to aisle - oh, and watch them if you go near the rabbit and guinea pig enclosures!

Overall the stall has large selection of stock including cages, toys, treats, food and of course animals. I had visited once before and if memory serves they had kittens for sale but sadly they weren't there this time. There was however an array of birds which were sat about chirping and my friend was able to get some nutty seedy type things for the Hamster which weren't that bad for value. This shop can be easily located on the balcony in the market so there should be no problem in finding it if you find yourself in need of straw and sawdust.

They have a lot of stuff you would expect such as leads, bowls, cages and feeders. It is a pet paradise. It is nowhere as big as Pets at home but it has all the essentials you would and could ever need. I believe they sell a few small pets in there as well, such as hamster, mice and rats. If you need supplies for your pet then this should be your first place to come.

My daughters love going there as there are animals there that you can look at and buy like: hamsters, rats, guniea pigs and fish. All the cages and fish tanks look really clean and the animals look well looked after. We brought our hamster from there and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Once we had chosen the hamster they got him out the cage. They then explained to us how to look after him and showed us what food he needed etc.They then gave us a little box and a bit of bedding to take him him home in. No, I wasn't treated to a bag of hay or a chew toy, my present was the furry kind, a hamster to be precise. I was really nervous (the last hamster incident I was involved in ended in blood and being mentally scarred for life) but the owner was absolutely lovely. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, giving us a full history of his current stock of hamsters and stressing that he only uses particular breeders. As this goes for all the small animals he sells, this means that customers can rely on healthy, happy and docile animals. As well as the hamster in question, we also bought all the necessary paraphernalia that one needs to take care of it. Once again the owner gave us expert knowledge on what kind of cage we needed and once we got the hamster home I rang this shop up practically every other day for advice and he was nothing but patient. Definitely recommend this place for all your pet needs, particularly if you are looking to buy a healthy, friendly pet.

It also has a good range of the bigger bags of food to save money. They even have a pick 'n' mix of dog biscuits! Dogs are allowed in if they are well behaved, staff are friendly and helpful.

None of this in fact matters though, as anybody who owns pets will be most satisfied by the products available to purchase. They sell all kinds of dog and cat food imaginable (I've never seen so many bones), at incredibly reasonable prices, so I would therefore recommend that you like myself buy in bulk. They also have a smaller selection of gardening items, which whilst not particularly fancy (no Cath Kidston fork and spades here) are good quality and would satisfy your basic gardening needs.
