We have been here several times. Each time has been quite fun and easygoing. I have reserved the large rooms for my child's birthday party for the last two years. Each time has been really fun! The room is always clean and has plenty of space for the entire party. Plus, the party package comes with drinks and pizzas. You're also allowed to bring your own decorations, as long as you don't damage the walls and take them down when you're done. There are plenty of activities for the kids to do, including the arcade zone. Overall, it is kept pretty clean, especially for having so many children all the time lol. The food is really good and does come out pretty quickly. Pricing-wise, I'd say it's pretty reasonable for the amount of services that are included. The drinks at the bar are a little overpriced in my opinion, but the service is always awesome. read more

With visiting family in Nevada, they brought up the idea of going to Perfect Games in Ames, Iowa. We had an absolute BLAST!! We got set up with bowling first and found there are couches to sit on while you wait your turn. Everything is automated and we were able to select lane bumpers for the younger grandkids. I had to go to the bar to place our pizza/soda order (I have NO issue with that), and they brought our order out to us. It was really good! Next was the arcade and laser tag. They have a mix of older games along with new. We didn't make it outside for the mini golf due to rain. We will make sure we come here again! read more

Been back a couple times since last review. Mostly to keep the hubby company during his company bowling league. They always have a good time. They have built a relationship with the staff. I get to go for bigger company events and enjoy the bowling here. Its always loud. Gaming area if you get bored. Bar and food available. Not gunna lie. I really love their chicken strips. Bowling just so happens to be my favorite pastime and Perfect Games is one of my favorite places ever in Ames, IA! My mom/friends even held my surprise 21st birthday party here last year. I probably come here 1-3 nights a week. $2 games and shoes after 9pm M-Th and lots of random food and drink specials too- Like cheap wings, $2 wells Tuesday's and I think arcade games specials some other nights! I've only ever had to wait for a lane if it's intramural bowling season but I can't get mad when I do intramural here too! Great staff (shoutout to Evan for being helpful on my birthday), yummy foods and bar options, and all the lanes you could dream of! **KITCHEN CLOSES AT 10pm** If I could give this a 0 star I would. We went to perfect games to bowl and eat on Monday for their wing special. The advertisements said 9pm-midnight. When we got there, we waited at our table for 45 mins before a server came to get our order (after I had walked to the bar to ask for a server). After we told her our order, she turns around to let us know the kitchen actually is already closed, this was at 9:52pm. Nowhere in the store, on their ads, or on their website say that the kitchen closed at 10pm nor did she even tell us when we got there until it had ALREADY closed. The manager also said that even though it wasn't already 10pm, the kitchen was already cleaned up. So we never got food. When we went to the front to complain, all the manager said was "Sorry about that" and did nothing. We let the staff know they should tell customers that the kitchen closes at 10pm when they come in or advertise it that way. Doubt they will actually do that, but just a heads up. Super bad response to our complaint, they need to fix their advertising, and terrible service because they never came to get our order until we asked for a server. read more

The other day I went to perfect games with my family & I wasn't impressed with the disrespect we got from Kayla at the bar... she was absolutely rude. Not only did she ignore us while we were waiting to order, but once we were finally able to order & get our food, she took all our drinks off our table even though we were just running to the bathroom and would be back. She gave us more attitude and disrespect than we should have got. I really wish it didn't go that way at all. We felt like we weren't welcome there, at all. It took us talking to 4 different things people before someone actually pointed out the manager, and we let him know what happened. Went on a sunday night and walked up to the bar to place my order because they had said that there wasn't any servers going to each lane personally. So we waited a good 5 minutes and she was pouring drinks so we were patiently waiting until she was done and instead she finished and decided to help another customer who was there after us and then proceeded to help others that got there after us. Didn't even acknowledge us at all. So we walked away due to the fact that we weren't acknowledged AT ALL. Went back after 10 minutes and she was still there but another worker named Cassandra decided to help us and she did but not without a bit of attitude. Once we paid she handed us the merchant copy and said "Here" and we were just surprised at how rude that was. So we waited there considering everyone she was attending had a pager to let them know when their food was ready. And we didn't get one and all she said was "Do you need something?" so at this point I will not recommend this place unless you just want to have a bad night with rude container service :) read more

Perfect Games in Ames is a crazy place! Perfect for kids b-day parties, maybe perfect for all adults who still have that kid spirit or just like playing games! They have bowling, they have laser tag, they have video games, they have skee ball, they have candy, they have pizza, they have pretty junky cheap prizes you can turn your tickets into, they have a staff that doesn't really care if your screwing around! Oh ps they have beer too! But I must say, it's a little on the pricey side compared to other bowling alleys and the laser tag, (though I'm no expert on laser tag) it's not that amazing! But again if I was a 11 years old and wanted to be really rowdy with my friends and eat to much, and get seriously competitive! This is a pretty golden spot in Ames! And they have a huge parking lot! Talk about a mega-modern bowling alley. This place is HUGE and even had an arcade in the middle in which you use game cards to add money and record your ticket amounts (just like D&B). I had a lot of fun here. Lots of room to hang out and not feel crammed with neighboring tables. Great bar service and good prices one drinks! I loved the giant flat screen TVs and the music selection made the atmosphere lively and fun. Randomly finding myself in Ames for the night, this was definitely worth my while. The place itself is fine. The only thing I'm going to complain about is the lady who was behind the Bar to be a little less rude. I had come up to order a beer and a walking taco and she looked at me as if I had interrupted some rude moments she was having with another customer. Had a company event here. 38 people bowling drinking, bowling and eating. The place manages to do a half decent job. The pizza is not great but passable, the bar service is good. The wings are hot but not overly so, so the masses will not object. the kettle chips are very good although there were some that were cooked while still together leaving some under cooked spots. The staff was very courteous even helping us tally up scores to award some prizes. At the end of the day the price around $50 per person with tip is a little pricey even including two hours of bowling. But since a good time was had by all, I can't complain too much. read more

In the past i have had no bad experiences, but with the last two birthday parties that i had at this place was bad. The workers will literally ignore you if they dont want to service you, leaving you watching as the others are helped. One thing that i must stress.. minority children (non-white) are treated as if they do not belong. During ticket redemption my two young children (8y & 5y) were passed over and over even though they were there the longest. When we spoke to the manager they told us that the ticket person can have their choice. The other families in line who heard this excuse were just as shocked as i was. Workers were very friendly and helpful. Lots of bowling lanes but all were full hope to come back and bowl soon! A nice little arcade lots of games for all ages. My 15 month old loved pressing buttons, the merry go round, and jump house(2 dollars extra but nice they can jump the whole time there.). Ate at the pizzeria again friendly and helpful workers and good food. Can't wait to come back only complaint so far was a few machines where down but I know that happens. Also a little disappointed at a few places where dirty like pop spilled on one of the games. As for prices we settled on the Sunday special 11am to 7 pm I believe games half off, 2 kids bowl free with one paying adult, and 10 dollar pizza! While I was home for father's day weekend, my dad & I came here to take advantage of their weekday free bowling. Over the summer they offer free bowling from 11 am to 2 pm - all you have to do is rent shoes ($3), and you get 2 free games per person. What a great deal!! We had a lot of fun bowling here. I thought the atmosphere was pretty nice: the bowling area was pretty spacious, and they had comfy couches to sit on, not hard chairs like lots of places. I also found the staff friendly & helpful, as they came over to check on us and see if we needed anything. They also have pizza, hot dogs, and hamburgers for those who want refreshments while they bowl, as well as an arcade with some games. We had a really good time, despite our very rusty bowling skills, and you really can't beat an afternoon of entertainment for 2 people for $6. read more

My friends and I come bowling here quite often, it's a nice atmosphere with great pricing and it's not too busy. The only thing that bothers me is the service. We get the same server every time we come and she is slow, kind of rude, and doesn't check on her tables very often. To start off let me say Perfect Games is a good place to go to have a good time. They offer a lot of entertainment options from the bowling to video games to laser tag and it's only been around for four or five years so it's very nice and clean inside. The problem with Perfect Games is the price. Especially for bowling they just charge too much compared to other bowling alleys in the area. Unfortunately their only other competition in Ames, 20th Century Bowling, was destroyed in the floods of 2010 so Perfect Games is the only game in town for bowling. I have avoided Perfect Games due to outrageous costs and a poor experience on my first visit a few years ago, but recently returned with friends after we were drawn in by a weeknight special. I thought maybe my first trip here was just a fluke bad experience, but their employees and policies make it clear that this just isn't a good business to patronize. The first time I went, I was with two friends; we ordered a small pizza, one pitcher of beer, played 2-3 games of bowling, and then asked for our check. To my surprise, we were being billed nearly $80 for this very modest night out on the town. After being so heavily ripped off by the employees who decided to not honor the night's special pricing, I decided to keep taking my business elsewhere. Now that there's nowhere else to bowl in Ames (sine the MU has wobbly, uneven floors on their lanes), we did actually get drawn back in for a Wednesday night special: $10 for 3 games of bowling with free shoe rental, among other things. We played some, waited until 9:00 for their pitcher special ($4 domestic pitcher -- regularly $11), and ate popcorn. At first we were told the popcorn was free, then told it was $1 for unlimited refills, and then were told by yet another staff member that we couldn't get any more because it cost $1 per basket of popcorn. Okay, it's popcorn - no big deal, so we just left it alone. Once we were finally done laughing at our we-barely-ever-do-this bowling scores, it was time to return our shoes, pay, and go home. But wait! That's not all! They'll throw in a free headache with every purchase. Our friends paid before us, without looking at what they were being charged for, and when we were rung up we were being charged $5/game per person and for the shoe rental, as opposed to their heavily advertised $10/3 games with free shoes. Having to argue with minimum wage employees who can't agree on whether or not they're going to feel like honoring their specials isn't really the ideal way to end a night of fun. In the end, we did actually get the pricing that we were initially offered when we walked in, so that was satisfactory, but the hassle that it takes to get to that point makes it absolutely NOT worth the trip. read more

Only negative I have to say is their card machine that you use to put money on for their arcade games is usually down, but that isn't too big of a deal because you can just do it at the register. The good: Ball selection was good. I'm not exactly the hulk and don't do well with a very heavy ball - but smaller balls tend to have very small holes for fingers. I was able to find a couple of balls that were suitable. The shoes seemed clean - no odor or noticeable soiling. A waitress came to us to see if we wanted any food or drinks. That was convenient, since otherwise one person getting a drink would mean holding up the game for a few minutes. They played music videos above each lane. The music selection was popular enough to appeal to late teens/twenty somethings, but not risque enough to be unsuitable for families. However, I suspect most of the older generations wouldn't enjoy it. The bad: We were told there was a 20-25 minute wait, but actually waited about 45 minutes. However, they had 4 lanes open throughout that time. At first I thought those lanes might be out of service, but they sent us to one of them. Maybe there's a good reason they let those lanes sit empty while people were waiting - but I can't think of one. I liked that a waitress came over to ask if we needed anything - but there was no follow-through. I finished my soda in half an hour, but the waitress never returned. Going to the counter wouldn't have been a problem, except no one was at the counter, so the waitress was my only option. The biggest downfall, in my opinion, is cost. It is easily the most expensive bowling alley I've been to in this area - most alleys in our region would cost fifteen to twenty bucks for two people to bowl two games. Here, it cost $30. I know that this is on par with a lot of other regions of the U.S., but for the middle of Iowa it's pretty high. read more

We went here in August for my daughter's birthday. The old man at the counter was rude multiple times. He yelled at us for using the wrong bowling lane even though i asked more than once which lane we were supposed to be in. They cut our time off more than once then completely lost our game. Some guy ..whom I found out today was the manager tried to give us an extra game but we were just tired of the attitudes by then. He ended up giving me a gift card. No apologies for the old guy. I specifically asked if it could be used for evwrything there. He said yes. Fast forward to today. We go to use the card for mini golf. The same rude man is at the counter and tells me its not a gift card and can only be used for arcades or lazer tag. I argue and ask for the manager. Surprise surprise he's the bearded guy I spoke with last time. I argue with him, that he said we could use it for anything and why would he call it a gift card if it's not a gift card. He gets angry and throws the card and says whatever just go play your damn golf. We played and had a good time, despite his crap attitude. We will go to Des Moines from now on. read more

I have just gotten home from perfect games. I have gone here many times and had fun, but not today. I will never go again. It is my birthday and my dad was trying to pay for the activities with a 100 dollar bill. The girl gave him a price and my dad asked for a receipt. She said we dont give receipts. My dad was upset and demanded a receipt. She slammed her earpiece(speaker) down on the counter and stomped off to get the manager. She then told the manager in front of my dad that he was trying to lie about the price to get a better deal!!! We stood there in disbelief, while the manager finally found the real price and gave my dad back a little bit of money.
