Spotlessly clean, lots of TV's, new and well maintained cardio equipment, a variety of classes, plenty of weights, bosu, personal trainers on staff, spa-like atmosphere, smoothie bar... etc... They even had a really nice holiday party for their members, with plenty of food and wine and a big raffle (prizes included a huge Lancome gift basket, membership credits, spray tan gift certificates, etc) and a fundraiser for one of their instructors husbands who was recently paralyzed. They are also a member of the IHRSA, so if your club participates you can work out at this club while traveling... without being a member.. simply paying the normal guest fee. As much as my mother would loooooove for me to move to North Carolina, (I'm from California) ... that's not happening.. ;-) However... if I did, I would consider becoming a member here. The classes I took could stand to be more intense (I took Zumba and Cardio Kickboxing and it was NOTHING compared to the intensity of California classes) but the facility and everyone involved is very nice.

I highly recommend! I met the General Manager Tina and she gave me a tour before my workout showing me the different rooms, workout areas, and educating me on how everything works. She was really helpful and informative with the whole experience. They have multiple saunas that have video training classes done with actual trainers. There was a HIIT sauna, rowing machine class, and yoga. I chose to do the hot yoga and did the max temp of 130 degrees. It was one of the best workouts I've had in a while! I typically weight train at a gym in Noda, but I'll be signing up soon so I can add these workouts to switch it up & have variety in my training. If you go, ask for Tina!

When I came to him I was still dealing with pain from a shoulder surgery, I hadn't regularly worked out in over a year, and I had some bad habits from my time in the Army. From the start I was impressed. He took great care to remind me that doing things properly and painlessly was the goal, regardless of how much (or how little) weight was being moved. The workout plan during our sessions and outside of them has allowed me to be far more consistent and make the most of my schedule. I have received a wellness consultation there and participated in their bootcamp classes. You also have the option of one-on-one personal training where the attention is all on you and your fitness goals or you can opt for the bootcamp classes (what I did!) which are small groups between 5-10 individuals, where you will will feel like you are in basic training for the Army.:) My experience with bootcamp and trainers: The bootcamp exercises vary...sprints, jumping rope, circuits, abs, squats and more. It's truly one of those feelings where it hurts but feels good. You know what I mean? You know you are working hard but it helps get results. You can burn 700+ calories in just one session! The owner Michael (who also trains) and one of the trainers Tyson (she really works you out!!) really care about your fitness goals and they do not yell at you like in real basic training! In addition to training, Shape Up gives you nutritional tips and also has their own newsletter that includes articles based around fitness/nutrition, as well as a healthy recipe that helps you to stay the course. Flex5 is a smaller gym and they focus on specialized smaller classes including personal training, yoga and pilates. I actually came for a tabata class. The class was really small, probably 8 people max, but everyone seemed to know each other- which I thought would be a good thing. The class ended up starting about 10-15 minutes late because everyone was talking and telling stories of their weekend- which I didn't think was professional of the trainer to let happen. Once the class started it was really fun and I enjoyed the music. The workout was challenging and I was breaking a sweat. I'm glad a tried it! Overall, the workout was great and I definitely was sore the next day, but I wish the trainer was a little more motivating and professional especially since I was a new member trying out the place.

I don't know what I was intimidated by, it is really easy to use and not scary! I like how they have a 'starter class' where they explain more about how to use the machine and what to do- this is what I took and was really helpful! They also showed me around the studio since it was my first time and made an effort to remember my name. I felt so comfortable! You can leave your belongings right with you, but they also have lockers. You wear sticky socks and stay on the same machine the whole class. It's dimly lit and the music is loud. They do a great job of explaining the exercises and also explaining modifications if you want to make it harder or easier. I love that it's a full body workout every time! I was sore for several days after my first class. The instructor is encouraging and gives feedback when needed as well as gives you a shoutout when she sees you doing something great! It's tricky to park but they have a deck close by and solidcore validates your parking- so nice!! I will definitely be back.

I have been Instagram stalking them for a while now and finally had an opportunity to quit creepin and actually participate. No matter how many times you go to a gym or to a new place, you always feel like everyone stares at you when you first walk in. Well, maybe they are but each coach made a point come over and introduce themselves. I got a brief rundown of the facility and I was putting my bag away/getting water, more and more kept introducing themselves. Whether this is a one-off, or just the culture of 926, I was ridiculously impressed and immediately made to feel "at home." The workout I attended was a free community workout and it did not disappoint. Greatly programming but then also greatly coaching. I rarely do any overhead lifting. The coaches noticed some form issues and took time to coach me through without interfering with the overall workout. My... Absolute... Favorite... Kind... Of... Coaching. Because let's be honest, we are all competitive and who really wants to stop working out to talk? Even if you really should... Although, I am pretty positive they would have made me if I were doing something a little too crazy. The facility is AMAZING. Large, spacious, clean... AND IT SMELLS SO GOOD. Growing up and working in gymnastics facilities my entire life, I expect to smell feet, chalk and sweat in any workout facility I go into. Not here. I just wanted to lay on the ground and make turf-angels on the floor but I just met these people and couldn't show my crazy just yet. Get in on this ASAP as everything is new, bright and shiny. But really, it was the people that made it awesome. The location is spot-on too. Conveniently located off 73, but once you are inside "the gates" you almost feel like you are secluded and sectioned off from the rest of the world. Kind of ideal when you are trying to get into a certain "zone" to push yourself in your workout. I will definitely be adding CrossFit 926 to my circle of facilities to workout at.
