Very nice, clean salon with friendly service. Great prices. They fit me in when I didn't have an appointment. Would go back

Totally love this place! And (I believe I had) Susan is awesome!…read more Have to admit the first time I tried to check this spot out was in the summer, as a walk-in, they were super welcoming but did say there would be a wait, I wasn't able to do a 30 min+ wait-- and that's totally on me so I wasn't able to stay. But today I called right at open for an appointment for a refill and shellac pedi and they were able to take me right away. When you walk in you're greeted right away, so welcoming. Tons of colors available to choose from. I appreciated Susan wasn't super pushy on upgrading, but for it being my first time I wish I would have been able to see the possible upgrades. But will check it out next time. My techs attention to detail for shaping and cleaning was superb. All my nails were even, not too thick, and color was put on clean. I appreciate that! Pedicure was the same. I will be back for sure. As for price, I totally feel like it was such a deal!!

While the work station is being prepared for your mani or pedi the ladies ALWAYS bring a sealed pouch of sterilized utensils and open it INFRONT of you - I love that because you feel confident that the tools are clean. Since the salon is located in a strip mall, there is free parking available. If it matters the salon is located beside a No Frills, Value Village, Once Upon A Child and across the street is Healthy Planet and Dollarama.

Really and truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had at ANY establishment…read more I can assign the one star rating to cleanliness. That's where it ends at Raw Beauty Bar. The manicurist's behavior was appalling and the overall manicure sub-par (see photos below for the hack job on my cuticles and the overall streaky and messy colour). Will have to visit either of my two tried-and-true nail salons in the east end to fix this one. I usually write more detailed reviews. This was my third attempt at it. I'm beyond angry about this experience and nothing I wrote seemed appropriate, so there you have it.

UPDATED REVIEW:…read more Everything can be fixed with some good old fashioned customer service. After I posted my review (you can see my previous review below) the owner of the salon emailed me directly. Not only did she apologize, but she explained things (why they've been short staffed, why it's been hard to get in touch, etc), without trying to excuse them and then she laid out her plan of solutions. It really was the definition of how to win back a customer. I went back today and couldn't have had a better experience. Big props to the young woman running this bustling business- a one-woman show- with integrity and respect. I booked my appointment online, which was very quick and easy. The staff were all friendly and incredibly attentive. All my previous issues seem to be a distant memory. I will definitely be going back. My previous review: Cute interior, good location, but poor customer service and a lack of communication between the employees. I've been a few times, hoping once I got into their grove, things would improve. I can't even count the number of unreturned voicemails I've left. Literally a week will go by and my voicemail (during business hours because the phone goes unanswered regularly) will never be returned. I haven't found any of the staff particularly friendly. There's a candy bar at the front and a coffee machine but I've never seen anyone be offered a drink. The nail services themselves are good. I think it would be fun for a bachelorette party or a group of girls since you could take over and make it what you want.

The first couple of visits they were great, good customer service, friendly staff and they did a reasonable job of my acrylic nails and pedicure. They were not quite as good as my other salon, but acceptable. Then things began to change, on the visit before the last one the technician appeared to be a bit abrupt and she was rushing my nails . They were shellac polished and at the time looked ok, but over the next few days began to blister and peel back, revealing wet paint underneath. I thought, ok, maybe it was a one off and I'll sort them out when I go back. I returned a couple of weeks later and the same thing happened, very rushed, hardly said a word, even when I tried to begin a conversation and to begin with the technician was very rude to me in front of a shop full of people. She had asked me to choose a polish colour and I did and began to text my husband to let him know how long I would be. She shouted that she was waiting and I should hurry up, loudly enough for everyone else in the store to turn around and look. I thought..."Wow", considering I am not even a person who uses her phone very often either. So I won't be going back. I'll have to bite the bullet and drive back to my old haunt, which I did the other day.....what a difference in amazing nails, higher standards of customer care and welcoming atmosphere.....worth the drive.

With the entrance fee, you are given a towel, bathrobe, and a bracelet for a locker. You can also opt for different add-ons for your experience such as an exfoliator/scrub or a sauna hat. They do not offer slippers so bring your own if you prefer them. I found the saunas hot enough as I have a low heat tolerance. The cold bucket plunge was also refreshing after the sauna. The cold plunge is a well that states a one person limit, though many people went in with 2-3 people at a time. The entire atmosphere reminds you of a cottage getaway. Afterward, we went to the dining area where they offer complimentary tea at the cutest tea station. They also make homemade kombucha and offer pickle vodka shots. We ordered the borsht, cabbage rolls, dumplings, herring, and the sourdough pancakes. Right off the bat, everything was delicious. The borsht was probably one of the best I've ever tasted, especially with the sour cream and the tanginess of the broth. The cabbage rolls were juicy and seasoned well, the sourdough pancakes tasted like fried dough and had a rich buttery flavour as opposed to the sweet, cakiness you would expect from a pancake. But the most surprising was the herring, which came with pickled cabbage on top and was incredibly tasty. Definitely give this a try if you visit. The drinks were also made strong, despite the low price ($11-15 for a cocktail). We all agreed that we should return just for the food alone!

Scrubs are five dollars for purchase which actually is kinda crazy considering the size but I came for the full experience so you bet I bought one for the steam room. The sauna and steam rooms were INSANELY hot and the cold plunge was INSANELY cold. It was FANTASTIC lol! It was so foggy in the steam room I literally could barely see anyone else and my nostrils were burning from the heat. The water in the pool was nice and cold though and really helped keep cool in there. The larger sauna was super relaxing temperature wise and more for chilling out. If the cold plunge was too extreme there was also a chain and bucket that release cold water that was not nearly as freezing. There was a lovely cozy rest area with dim lights and a tv and in the nook of the dining area a plethora of stunning herbal, aromatic and fruity teas. As for the food itself, AWESOME. There were plenty of options for me as someone who only eats halal meat and has to otherwise be vegetarian or pescatarian in the event meat is not halal. I had potato pelmeni and the bowl was LOADED. I was in absolute BLISS. The mushroom julienne was a pool of cheese, cream and mushrooms, what was there not to like there??? The bread was the only meh part of it all. The sour cream cake was lovely and fluffy. Very homemade vibes. I loved the experience and would absolutely come back again!
