My online search, focused on something less bad for the environment, turned up a couple manual transmissions, which surprised me. My old car was a 5 speed so that's what I prefer, but I thought they were dying out. One of them was at the Friendly Bargain Lot, and Car Guru rated it a great deal. Juwan was patient and helpful with my difficulties getting to an initial test drive, luckily one of my kids came through and let me borrow his car. I test drove the car at the top of my list, and it was smooth like a new car, and seemed to accelerate super easy. I did test drive another just for comparison, but I think I really knew I had found my car when I had the first one on the highway. Having just retired a couple weeks ago, this was not ideal timing, but I told Juwan I would check about borrowing from life insurance, which was how I had financed the last one. He told me they would actually give me something for my old car, too, even though it wasn't running, Luckily my policy had more than enough value to borrow what I needed. The CarFax report already told me the current price was a bargain, so I didn't plan to try to get it down unless the inspection turned up something. Juwan stayed in touch with me over the weekend to make sure we could get this done. The inspection was perfect, so I was buying the car! We had to go to the main dealership for that part. The finance guys did try to add on some extras, and fees were more than I remembered, so I had to politely refuse most of them, They were not pushy about it, though, and soon I was on my way home with a shiny new to me car,

My brakes weren't "bad" but the warped rotors were causing a braking vibration. September 3, 2026 Notified service advisor Devin that the brakes seem to take more pressure to stop and were not as responsive as they were prior to the service. September 4, 2026 Stopped in at Devin's request. Tom the shop foreman test drove it and came back saying that he agreed with me, it takes more effort to stop. They advised me to drive it over the weekend to see if they get more responsive. They did not. September 14, 2026 Requested them to look at everything because it still doesn't feel like it did before the brake service. Devin advised me that they wouldn't have a loaner until September 25. I dropped off my tuck on Thursday evening September 24. September 25, 2026 I had to make contact with them for an update, which I did at 3:49pm. Comment back was, "Master tech went out and drove it numerous times along with the service manager this time and they said it stops like normal...if you want, you can go for a ride with my service director who was a technician for 10 years before being in the position he is in now" I politely replied that I disagreed with their diagnosis. The loaner provided was a 2026 Silverado Base. The brakes in the loaner acted just like my truck did before the brake service. I asked them to drive a similar used truck for comparison since they claim I can't compare mine to new. "Chad" called me twice stating that they can't find anything wrong and mine acts just like a used 2022 Silverado High Country they have on the lot. I showed up at 5:00pm and test drove the High Country and then drove mine for comparison. I told Devin that the brakes in the High Country respond better than mine and those brakes had 38k miles on them. At this point, Devin was pushing the paperwork towards me with the understanding that they weren't going to do anything more. I take my vehicles to the dealer to ensure that I get premium parts and service. I expect my vehicles to be the same or better after service, not degraded. The service was $1,600, not pocket change by any means. It is a shame that there seems to be no accountability. I was planning to order my 2027 TrailBoss from Friendly but I guess someone else will get my business from now on.

After purchase, a mechanic inspected it and confirmed that the unibody is severely rusted at the rear suspension mounting points, making the car unsafe to drive. I was advised not to operate the vehicle due to the risk of suspension failure and loss of control. This defect existed at the time of sale and was not disclosed to me. Selling a structurally unsafe vehicle without disclosure violates Minnesota law and puts drivers at serious risk. The dealer has refused to resolve the issue or provide a refund.

I took my car to the dealer (it's a one owner bought brand new) for it's 60,000 mile service which includes replacement of the timing belt. What I was met with was a repair bill of over $1500!!! I took my car to Jason instead and had all the fluids flushed, a tune up, water pump, and timing belt done for $700. Now maybe it's just me, but saving over 50% on a service charge because you don't have to pay a dealer mechanic their RIDICULOUS hourly shop rates, but friendly service with a smile, a mechanic who will bend over backwards to find you parts for your car at the lowest cost to you, and a guaruntee on the work done is priceless.
