Last week or so, my dad met Dr. Soto and she was professional and courteous and he was given an appointment at a certain time.(The negative stars are not for her as a medical professional, but for her support staff and medical facility, the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Coral Gables where she holds office hours). As usual, he arrived 30-45 minutes early and when it came to his appointment time, he wasn't called he waited 10 minutes after and inquired, and was told by the desk staff he would be called later because someone came in an emergency. That emergency left an hour after, and no one addressed him in any way, when he approached the front again, he was told that there was someone in the office and he could not be seen, and they could not yet see him. An hour later, he went and asked the front desk and she told him they weren't sure if he could even be seen that day and asked him to reschedule. The level of disrespect towards a patient demonstrates the lack of professional behaviour of the clinic staff to their patients in violation of a medical professionals Hippocratic Oath. We were in the competent hands of Dr Tom Nguyen (pronounced kind of like a long "wen", and definitely not An-Gu-Yen), whose empathic manner and surgical skill is simply excellent. After the surgery when we spoke with other people, we came to realize that not all hospitals and all doctors were able to perform the surgery as skillfully as Dr Nguyen and he is one of the top in his field. Through the week-long stay we came across many nurses and aids, and they are all very professional and nice. They always greet you, introduce themselves, and let you know what they will be doing. Some will do extra little things like sneaking us extra fruit or real sugar, or an extra blanket, for which we are truly grateful. Some are more skilled than the others, but overall they are pleasant and helpful. They also really listen when we have concerns, instead of brushing us off. From the pre-operation interview to the post-operation rehab, it's amazing how great the team is. Even the gentleman at the reception takes great pride in caring for the coffee machine! A hospital stay is never nice. The food is not great, even though someone comes in with a tablet and offers many choices. You cannot get a proper sleep as every few hours a nurse comes in for vitals and medication. But looking back, the staff is the bright spot of the whole ordeal.

Dr Socrates Kakoulides has been my specialist for approximately 2 years now and I highly recommend him and his Team of PA's.
