She is an absolute expert in layering different reds throughout my (very long) hair, and her balayage skills are absolutely epic. She has even managed to keep my daughter, who is VERY particular about her cuts and color (which is blonde, so this shows off the diversity of Melissa's deep knowledge), more than happy, and that's not an easy task. I finally found my salon! Marisa is the Queen of blonde! I asked for "natural, more sandy than brassy" and she made it happen. And it even only took an hour and a half! I was so tired of $400 balayage's where I would go home with orangey stripes all the way to my roots, and Marisa understood what I needed. I made an appointment online with Rory, one of the newer stylists. She really took time to understand the cut that I wanted and was pleasantly chatty. My hair is thicker than most and took a little more time that was allotted for my appointment but I recognize this as a me-problem and happens often for me at a new salon. Decor was boutique-chic and plant-forward and I LOVE that. You really get a sense that the air is clean and that everyone is using "clean" products. I'm usually pretty sensitive to the aroma of chemicals in a salon and was pleased that this salon didn't have that "make your eyes burn" kind of smell in the air. Rory is a cat-lover and I knew I was in good hands when I saw she was wearing a cat shirt :) My only hesitation about returning is that I have an undercut and she didn't have clippers to tighten it up. Next time, I think I'd communicate what I need in my trim prior to booking. BTW, her full first name is Aurora and that's my favorite Disney Princess! I went to Perch for a gloss, which I've always understood to be a transparent toning treatment that moisturizes the hair, adds shine, and is applied to wet hair before sitting for 15-20 minutes. However, at Perch, they applied a demi-permanent hair dye--without consulting me or explaining the process--and treated me like I didn't know what I was asking for. The product reeked of ammonia so strongly that it stung my eyes. When I questioned the process, I was dismissed as if I had no right to ask. The dye was left on my dry hair for only 5 minutes before being washed out, and the result? All of my highlights were gone, leaving my entire head a flat, solid color. This was not a gloss; it was a completely different treatment. When I expressed my concerns, I was told that the color would "wash out" and my highlights would eventually "come through." Well, 10 washes later, nothing has changed. I'm extremely disappointed--not only with the outcome but also with the dismissive attitude and lack of clear communication throughout the process. read more

I found my new hair salon and hairstylist! Patrick is such a gentle person. From when he was washing my hair, combing and drying, my experience was absolutely amazing. He gave me insights on how my hair works best and he respected and delivered my hairstyle choice and especially the length that I wanted. He is very professional and friendly as well. I will definitely come back here for my future haircuts. The place has a very relaxing and chill vibe. The plants, I love so much! The area is clean! I tried making an appointment a few months back only to have the stylist change my appointment time to 3hrs earlier the day of the appt, which I couldn't make, so it was canceled. Attempted again to book an appt only to have the time changed on me again without notice or any courtesy call. If they treat clients like this with booking, I wouldn't trust them with my hair. I hadn't had a haircut for a year and made the decision to make an appointment with Cori for a cut and color. And I wasn't disappointed. I told her prior to the appointment that I wanted some old Hollywood glamour shades of gold and blonde. And boy did she deliver. She moved quickly taking a peek at my head and mixing up the colors before sectioning my hair off and applying all of the different colors. She did a few foils of bleach and within 30 minutes I was getting shampooed and was a whole new woman. She gave me a haircut and styled my hair with a blow dryer. I left looking like a completely different person than I walked in. I felt proud today getting up and leaving the house in a way that I haven't in a really long time thanks to her unique skill and ability at transformations. I honestly can't wait to make an appointment and go back to do something different next time! I know that this is the person I would like to have do my hair for the rest of my life. I read other reviews about Cori cancelling last minute but I still thought I'd give this place a try. Should've listened to the reviews! I scheduled a consultation with Cori at 2 pm (not 2:20 as she states in the text) and she tried to cancel on me 7 mins before our appointment time. Unfortunately I was already at the salon when she texted and so I think she felt obligated to see me. Not only was she late but she seemed to have double booked my appointment with another one of her clients. So as she was breezing through my 5 minute consult she kept him waiting. All in all it was not a fun experience and I definitely won't be coming back to someone who clearly can't keep her schedule straight and has no respect for other people's time. Beware of this place and it's owner. Found a nice cut they did on instagram so I reached out and asked the price range so I could come in for the service. The salon itself replied saying it starts at $75 & up. Reasonable.. another associated personal account responded for $125. Nearly doubled? I ask why the price gauge, she replies she is the owner and to see the different price ranges on the website. Ended with a snarky "thanks, *wink emoji here*". Wouldn't an owner give the range instead of starting it at the higher end right away? Just seemed inconsistent and off. It was just rude, seemed dishonest and totally inconsistent. Glad I didn't spend my money there and the employees should seek a better boss. Wouldn't recommend this place if you value customer service, honesty or even respect. read more

Unfortunately, this review is for Rory. I want to preface by saying that she is very sweet and I enjoyed chatting with her. But I'm very disappointed with my haircut. I think she got a little overzealous with the scissors and ended up giving me a very uneven layered haircut when I asked for face framing and light layers from the crown to maintain thickness. Unfortunately, all my hair was thinned in out so much that it looks very whispy with no cascading layers down the length. The right side layers are much more drastic and about 1.5" higher than the left side. Everything is very choppy and the only way to make it look thick and even again is to chop about 5 inches. I went there about a week ago, scheduled my overdue hair with Melissa. She was very accommodating and nice. My old hair used to be this orange mess and she did a great job correcting it to a more visually appealing and not sore. she added some highlights as well and loved them. First time in. I'm usually wary when going into new places for my hair (which is why it was pre pre pandemic since having it cut) due to a lot of hair loss on top. I found them on a queer friendly list and let's just say that as soon as I walked in, it felt like home. Bowie adorns shelves, wall space, and a table. Music is 100% my vibe and everyone was immediately nice. Ursula cut my hair and she was an instantly wonderful person. This introvert talked, y'all!!! She did a great job with my hair, removing length and weight. It feels wonderful and she even talked about the natural waves and curl in my hair, something that's never been brought up and that I "sort of" avoided (not for any particular reason). I am so happy I decided to walk in to Perch Salon on a whim and recommendation. I was greeted by Jocelyn who had a fantastic warm and welcoming vibe which matched the salon precisely. She gave me easy instructions on how to book an appointment. I did and I decided to book with her as I just got a good feeling. Not sorry at all!!! After a year of going to a stylist who had her own agenda of a hairstyle and color for me that I was just not 100 % happy with!!Was very refreshing and calming to finally have someone like Jocelyn really listen. Jocelyn took the time to address what I was liking and not liking about my hairstyle and color. I showed her a couple of pictures of the color I desired, and she came up with an amazing color so similar to the picture I showed her.
