Overall, we have had our skates sharpened here a few times and everything was done correctly. The staff here are not as knowledgeable or experienced as Perani's, especially for goalie equipment. If you have a difficult case or unusual circumstance, I would definitely head to Perani's first. Pure Hockey has a great rewards program and is a chain in the midwest. If you go to tournaments in IL, MN or MI then staying loyal to Pure Hockey might be a good choice.

After about 20 minutes I was greeted somewhat rudely and abruptly by an older gentleman so I didn't even bother asking questions. Seemed as though the staff had changed over a short period of time and no one cared as much to truly help me as the two younger employees who helped me back in December. Unfortunately neither was working this day. Additionally, overheating some of the conversations the employees had was generally upsetting. I know it's a hockey store but employees should be cursing as much as they would on the ice when at work. Not a good look. The guy (Lance) there showed us a tool that we could use to widen the heel and even though it didn't seem to fit in the heel he verified that he would fit it. They ruined a $200 pair of boots both functionally and aesthetically and I should be grateful for not getting charged for it. Stay away from their store!
