He was transparent, friendly and patient. What I was really impressed with, was how he kept referring to the shingles as "our" shingles (Ex. "We want to remove anything that can damage our shingles.") To me, it really highlighted the sense of ownership and accountability Pete dedicates to projects. He wants to deliver lasting quality to his clients. Pete ordered the materials we requested and his team went to work about a week later. While they were working, it began to rain heavily and we thought for sure the job would have to be postponed. But to our surprise, the crew waited out the rain under our carport and once it stopped, they climbed back up and started working again. They completed our main roof and garage in ONE day. Wow! I can't recommend Above All Construction enough. They treated our property with the utmost care, safely removing and disposing of multiple satellite dishes left on the roof by the previous owners, trimming branches that could harm our new shingles, reinstalling our string lights after they were finished, and even blowing our driveway clean. If it weren't for the new roof, it would be hard to tell that they were even there. That's how small a footprint they left.

Pelican Paint recently refurbished the exterior of my NOLA cottage. What they did was much more…read morethan a paint job. While the cottage was renovated 5 years ago, before I purchased it, the paint was flaking off on the trim. After power washing the cottage last Fall, more paint blew off the siding, meaning it was never properly prepped before the last paint job. I procured 3 bids from professional companies, Pelican Paint being the last. Their bid was the most thorough, and interestingly the least expensive. Their rep, Richard Zimmer, was very precise in explaining what sets Pelican apart from other companies and proudly outlined their processes and offered a lifetime guarantee on their product/services, which is a big promise. After seeing their processes in real time, I quickly understood how Pelican can confidently stand behind their work. Since I live out of state and wanted to make sure I was onsite during the prep and paint work, I took my time accepting a bid. During those couple months, Richard kept in touch with me and when NOLA went through a prolonged freeze, he offered to go by my cottage and unhook hoses and wrap outside spigots. When the snow came, he went back to the property to check on it. He was very generous with his time and never pressured me to commit to using his company. When the work started, Jose and his 4 man crew arrived every day by 8:30 and stayed until 4:30. They worked non-stop and the level of preparation was unreal. They started by power washing the cottage. They taped the door and window frames so no water would penetrate into the house, which was surprising to me, as I've never known power washing companies to do that. Then they used electric palm sanders to remove old paint from the cypress siding. Afterwards, they caulked all gaps in the siding and trim before priming and painting the cottage. Richard and Jose even threw in a little lagniappe and painted my porch with some extra paint they had in the warehouse. No contractors I know give clients additional services without charging. And, I work with an array of vendors daily through my property management company in Virginia. I can't recommend Richard Zimmer, Jose and Pelican Paint enough. They are ultimate professionals and their prices are extremely competitive. Hands down, the best contractor experience I've encountered in 30 years of daily dealings with vendors.
