Since my husband and I live out of state, the employees told us (and it is clearly posted) that they would ship our items. I received the items yesterday and the platter was broken. Unfortunately, it was shipped in a very flimsy box with little tape and padding. The package was not secure in any way. Obviously we were disappointed that our item did not arrive as we were looking forward to seeing it. I reached out to the business and asked for a manager or owner. I was told that the employee I was speaking to could handle my issue. After explaining the problem and asking for a refund of the cost of the platter and shipping, she told me she needed to speak with the owner and get back to me. When the employee returned my call she said the owner had insured my package for $100 through the carrier and I should just submit a claim to them. I told the employee since they had poorly packaged the ceramics, they should make the claim and in either case, refund the cost. I then received an email from the owner stating that they make no refunds on items shipped. Although most people reading this will not need to utilize shipping from Create It, I think it is important to note the over-all attitude towards customer service. In this case, it would not be difficult for the owner to do the right thing. I will make the claim, but doubt it will be refunded since it's obvious to anyone that this package was in no way packed appropriately.

It's just a couple hours from San Francisco. Of all the places my Dad visited and taught at around the world, Mendocino was his favorite place. It's a magical place perched above the cliffs facing the Pacific Ocean, just beyond the Headlands. There's a courtyard that connects each studio, the gallery at one end. There's paintings, pottery, photography, lithographs, glass sculptures, etc. During these times, the art center is closed but you can view current artists' work on their website. Some pieces are available for purchase. You can even see a little bit of its magic through the screen.

Be aware that as I write this the Yelp page, January 2, 2022, it still shows the gallery on Plaza street. The gallery moved to 334 Center street in mid-2021. Alexis has a cute and funky store front (which appears as a renovated gas station from Highway 128 just so you know what to look for), but the best was when she welcomed us into her studio and let us watch her at work on the wheel. She makes amazing whimsical pottery, creative and innovative animal and totem pole sculptures and functional household items in a glaze I liken to a Mediterranean blue. We also found out that she has a cool mug club where you get a new mug shipped to you every 3 months so make sure to ask about this when you visit. It is always fun to meet a gallery owner/artist in person and be able to purchase an original work of art.

Free for shoppers. I found interesting high end clothing at bargain prices, amazing woodworking boxes and handmade flutes, beads, jewelry, handmade soap, plants, herbal products. Too much to list! This show is inside and has bathrooms. I learned that the vendor fees support the local senior center. What a good feeling to be helping the local community.
