Perhaps this seemed to them like a good solution rather than losing the sale entirely, as we live out of town and couldn't easily come in to make another selection, but we're crushed. We would much rather have received the print alone, with a refund for the frame that couldn't be provided.

We spent one of our days casually strolling the downtown part of Mendocino, and searched for businesses we just had to check out. Of course, this means finding a good bookshop. The polite customer made repeated protests about problems with the size of the dog, its huge waging tail, its colon problems, etc., to which the saleswoman replied that she would pay for anything the dog broke. She went on to press her case by saying that it was CHILDREN she likes to keep out of the store, not dogs. She loudly confided just how she hated it when people had the audacity to bring their kids into her shop full of breakables. At this point, my wife and I walked out in disgust.
