We were greeted warmly by a young man and his siblings. He showed us around the produce stall that had various local items from peaches to corn and everything in between. Behind the stall were shelves of beautiful homemade pottery. He invited us to take a look inside their gallery as there were more items for sale in there, jams, tea, coffee and more pottery. The gallery was air conditioned so it was a nice break from the heat. We ended up purchasing corn, peaches, some jam and fair trade organic coffee. Everything we got was ripe and delicious. Can't wait to stop by again hopefully this fall to see what seasonal items they will have then!

I still cannot believe I learned how to take raw fiber, prepare it to be spun, learn how to spin it (lots of practice from both student and teacher), and ply 2 single yarns I spun myself!!! In just 3 sessions. Plus many other things needed to take fiber from the raw into yarn to be knitted, crocheted or woven. (Like how to measure the just spun yarn and how to wash both the raw fiber and the your spun yarn) I learned so much! Julie made it fun while being extremely encouraging. Julie also sells beautiful and soft alpaca fiber you can use to spin I cannot recommend highly enough! What a great resource for spinning and weaving equipment and education. She also gives other types of classes with info on the website.

Every room. At first, everyone was "omg - we're all a minimum of 3.5 hours away - WHY!!!" As Mother of the Bride, I had a lot of work on this wedding, and Connie was my first contact here. She made everything perfect from the onset. My husband and I visited about 3 weeks before the big day to lock down decorations with Connie in the amazing barn. She made us feel welcome & was so incredibly helpful. We left with a feeling of control, where before I was just frazzled. I knew she understood my vision for the decorations and would do everything she could to make it happen. The house itself is a magical place with rooms tucked through this door, past the games, to up one of the two staircases, to behind that door off the parlor, to down the stairs through the solarium! Tea and coffee are always available, along with lemonade and water. They offer a variety of teas and coffee pods for all flavor lovers, including decaf. From this room we open to the grand solarium. Completely surrounded by the 2nd-story deck and porch with an outdoor fireplace! Big windows allow for streaming sunlight all day - it sparkles! Tables set here are for the 100% delicious breakfasts Sally whips up in the kitchen! The deck/porch off this room lent itself to the cocktail hour for the rehearsal dinner, where everyone had the most fun petting some of the many cats that live on the property! The stairs leading down from the solarium held two more rooms. Anna's Garden room. The other is Houghtelin Hideaway Room - wow! This was our room. While not technically an "old" part of the house structure, it oozed aged refinement. A large king bed was the highlight with the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept in! I seriously need to know what it was - I peeked under the sheets and did see a foam topper, but that couldn't be the whole secret! A big 1920s oak 'set-back" dresser gave ample room to put our clothes away. smart lamps on either side of the bed lent some modern convenience with USB ports, plugs, and such. A beautiful vanity sat as a use for either a desk or a vanity with a large mirror over. There is also a bench with a large mirror over - plenty of "getting ready" mirrors. A closet with overhead light helped to hold out garments, bags, with hooks set extra high for gowns and such. The other side of the room held a huge leather sofa that you just sink into! Chairs and tables allow this area to be a nice conversation nook. The bathroom was a masterpiece in itself! A huge walk-in stone shower with both a hand-held wall-mounted spray as well as an overhead rain shower head. They also supply shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in a wall-mounted dispenser. The enormous soaking tub was well used by myself three times! The vanity was well lit with so much room for things underneath with open shelves. A door out of the room at back led to a small patio area with a table and chairs and a path that leads directly to the wedding garden. Everyone there did everything possible to make my daughter's wedding weekend a magical event, and I truly hope we didn't overwhelm them too much! Right to the moment we pulled out on Sunday morning, watching the house fade in the mirrors behinds us - we knew we would be back again and again. This place felt like home. And one last - if you are holding an even there is none better than Connie to help you! She is an amazing, helpful, joy-filled, exuberant, AWESOMEDANCER, of an event coordinator!!

Terry and her team are very welcoming and super knowledgeable on the history of Gettysburg and the horses. You can tell the staff cares and loves all the horses that they work with. They knew all of their quirks and past history. All these horses are rescued and it is so amazing to have the opportunity to contribute to this organization and ride a horse who has been built up by this amazing caring team. I had the pleasure of riding Gus who is an ex Amish work horse and the gentlest giant. Terry is truly so kind, accommodating, and very educated about the history of the battlefield and her horses. Her story telling was great and I could picture everything happening as Terry was explaining it to us. Terry also gave us the confidence to mount and ride our horses through the trails and how to properly handle them. The views were amazing and we had a great view of the blue ridge mountains in sight. We also had the pleasure of a nice breeze brushing through the peaceful battlefields as we rode the very tidy and well kept trails. If I could do this everyday I would and I'm so thankful to Terry and her team for giving my sister and I this experience to always look back on and remember. These people are exceptional because they have rescued the horses and they literally teach you about horses so you can be a very comfortable rider (how to read their ear cues, why they stop, how to bond with them) even if you never ridden before. The horses were all well trained and even tempered so don't worry if you are taking the kids, they will love it. The history that you see and hear is amazing and would be impossible to do by yourself in a car. They really explained what the families who lived in the farms went through as well as the soldiers, doctors, officers and battlefield horses. It really was the best way to see and learn about the Gettysburg battlegrounds. I really can't say enough good things about the experience. If you can get a spot, you're lucky!
