As a food critic, I look for three things: consistency, flavor profile, and hospitality. Jasper's own Pepito's hits a home run on all three.Their legendary salsa is the best in the area. It is bright, perfectly spiced, and completely addictive. The Nachos Locos are a masterclass in layering flavors Pepito's - 527 Hwy 78 W, Jasper, AL, 35501 - MapQuest. Every chip gets the perfect amount of toppings. The fajitas arrive sizzling, deeply marinated, and tender. The service is incredibly fast and warm. They treat everyone like a regular. It is no surprise they have been a local staple since 1991 Pepitos Jasper | Jasper AL - Facebook. This is a must-visit spot on Highway 78. read more

The service was terrible. There were nine of us at the table, and out of the nine meals, six were completely wrong. At first, we didn't mind sending things back to be fixed, but it quickly became a frustrating experience. I ordered the grilled chicken War Eagle taquitos, but they came out as shredded chicken. When I sent them back, the server returned with an attitude, insisting that was what she wrote down, and handed me back the same plate of shredded chicken. A little later, she brought out beef taquitos, saying they were steak. Then she brought out another plate, again saying they were steak, but no one else at the table ordered steak. Moments later changed her mind and said, "Oh never mind, these are the steak, and those are the beef," while referring to the plate in front of my dad. To make matters worse, as my dad was taking a bite, she grabbed his plate and swapped it with another--completely unsanitary, not to mention rude. My brother also ordered rice but was served fries instead. When he tried to send them back, she said she would just bring him a plate of rice. She never did, but we were still charged for the fries we didn't even order. Overall, the server was unprofessional, dismissive, and rude, and the service completely ruined what should have been a nice meal. read more

This was our first visit to Pepitos and we really enjoyed it. Our server "Vincent". Was very attentive and kept our drinks full. I can tell that it's an older restaurant but the food was amazing. I had the Carne Asada and my husband had the burrito with shrimp, chicken and steak. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the chips. They were fresh but a little thick to my liking. All and all we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. read more

This place still has the best Mexican food in Jasper, but I just wish the staff acted like they are happy to have you there as a customer. I always feel like I'm treated as an inconvenience from the time I walk in until I leave...even if I do takeout. No appreciation for customers here. read more

Mother's Day? Worst Nachos Locos from Pepitos ever. Cost the most too. Skimpy! OUT of guac, wasn't supposed to notice. Got money back. Applebees instead. read more

When I first came here, I was really liking it. But today, I went there and I ordered a chimichanga with chicken and the chicken was horrible. The Mountain Dew there tasted weird and they barley put any ice in it. read more

I have had a off again on again relationship with this place for years. Looks like it's off again. As of recently the food has much improved but the staff has not much, today arrived prior to closing and placed an order, when our food arrived I attempted to make a to go order and was informed that the kitchen had closed (before closing time). Said they had got so busy earlier they were out of certain foods so they just closed the kitchen. read more

Best tasting Mexican food in Jasper Alabama with some of the worst service. Very sad I have to write this. Can never get ladies at the register to answer the phone to place to go orders and when you walk in they are talking on their personal phones or having conversations with visitors who have only come to chat. The prices are also high compared to many other Mexican restaurants who have better quality and service. Not consistent with making sure to go orders are correct. Needs to make changes to be better or they will go out of business soon. read more

We were seated quickly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. My quesadilla was sitting in liquid that had came off I'm guessing the pico or lettuce.. it was soggy. I couldn't even eat but half of my lunch because it was wet or soggy. Our server wasn't nice. He brought back the check and said.. "here's your bill" no "thank you" no "have a good day." Just not a good experience overall. read more

One of my favorites! I've always loved it, even as a kid. Very family friendly and the staff is wonderful. Great prices for everyone!

I have been here twice in two days for dinner. Two reasons - awesome margaritas and quick service. The food is pretty good too. read more

After a dinner after we just got to town so we cruised the stop and happened across Pepitos. It looked like your average Mexican place and inside is nothing amazing either. The menu is quite large and will please most customers. The service was great and quick. The food was amazingly quick and was large. I had the Fajita Quasidilla and was very satisfied. The meals were reasonably priced and if I am ever back in town I would be happy to stop here again. read more

Great place! I go often and the only problem I had was when I ordered some chicken and I got a Kids Meal, the waiters may not understand but then again, it was more my fault. but I have learned since to just say the number on the menu, but otherwise- great place to go if your in the mood for Mexican food, the price was good too! read more

This place is amazing! Great prices, the friendliest staff, and delicious food. Nothings beats this place. Most of the staff are genuinely from Mexico and can answer any question you need answered about the menu. They are so friendly and really care about your experience here. I always get their Enchiladas Verdes. They're unbeatable! The salsa and chips you get before your meal is so good, add some queso dip in there and it's heaven! Carlos was the friendliest waiter I've ever had. He not only brings your food out fast, he takes the time to make conversation and make you feel at home. This place is truly a gem, I would bring anyone here! read more

Ok so I have given them every benefit of doubt... this place is awful. Dirty, old, rude staff, poor quality food, and how do you serve margaritas with no tequila? This the second time this has happened to me??? I've been eating here for more than 20 years. Never again. I'm sick of their excuses and poor quality. Not worth it. I will be Inconvenienced and go to a different location from now on. Too many unbelievable bad experiences too mention. I am not going to be stupid again. read more

One of the absolute best!! I grew up eating Pepito's and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else besides the brother to it, Perico's.

I haven't visited this Resturant in awhile. Stopped in today for carryout lunch for myself and 3 others. When leaving I asked if there was salsa included with the tortilla chips I was told yesterday it is in the bottom of those bag. There were 4 bags of chips so I asked if we could have more salsa because I knew the size included would not be enough. I was told there would be an extra charge for the salsa. Then one of the guys waiter/ ? overheard the conversation and paused as he walked by saying there was 1 included for each bag. Well, that is still not enough. I don't mind paying but this should be given as it is served in the Resturant when dining in. When you eat the first serving they serve you more without charge. After handing out the dinners when I returned to my work place. The salsa given me was frozen in the 2oz containers. Lol I could t believe it. I see no reason to return here. read more

Nice staff. Cheese quesadilla was awful, and the rice and beans were awful. Not good food for the price I paid

This is my wife & I's "place." We're there at least twice a week. Over the course of the hundreds (or more) times we've been, there have been literally one/two dishes we did not like or incorrect orders by the staff, etc. It's possible to eat lunch in under 30 minutes. Daily specials are also worth keeping track of & provide a good way to expand your Mexican food horizons. One little-publicized tidbit: their soda-fountain mix is outstanding...especially for Diet Pepsi...it tastes better at Pepito's than out of a bottle. read more

Hurt!, Doesn't fit our disapointment with Pepito's, Jasper. My family and friends have been eating there for at least 15 years and must say the food has been terrific overall and the cleanliness has been adequate most of the time, some lower than we have come to expect. and service had been above average. However, over the last year or so there has been quite a shift, downward. We have noticed more and more outbursts of yelling, profanity and disrespect not just to the other employees but to guests as well. (We have children). You know when you hear one employee yell across the building with words like f**k, God D**n or B**ch to another employee, and yes we've heard it shouted to customers as well, and watching cooks get so drunk, We really don't know how they cook. With the exception of a few employees the staff is rude and lazy. Vicente' (?) is excellent. We love him and ask for him. Most employees are thumbing through their cell phones, oblivious. Music? loud and not family friendly. Then on the other hand there is older lady, don't know her name, (dark reddish/grey hair late 50's?) Super! our kids love her!. She takes care of you. Who is the manager? We were in last Monday, needed to speak to the manager about a problem from the night before, the cashier said, "not one here tonight", but i'll help you. It was the waitress with the dark hair. Problem resolved. Who is the owner? There have several times we wanted to speak to the owner, never has he spoke to us, or returned our call. So, here is what we did. Since our complaints are mostly ignored, we are circulating a petition to present to the Jasper City Council concerning 1) profanity, 2) use of alcohol by employees while working, 3) Employees drunk while on the job! We do have over 100 signatures as of June 30. 2020. Goal 250. Got to change! Someone has to take control!!!! Don't let this place become a has been. Straighten it out. We want to eat here. Pepito's quick service and cheap menu make it one of Jasper's most popular restuarants. All the chips and salsa you can eat, but grab a cup of cheese dip to complete your re-dinner experience. Tell them it's your birthday and you're sure to be noticed as they emerge from the kitchen banging pots and pans to present you with your birthday dessert. read more

I wasn't overly impressed with the guacamole salad or beef tacos. I think there are better choices. But the prices are cheap. For me a big sign of a good Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. The salsa tasted like it came from a jar and that explains the food. read more

Stopped in to have lunch to see what the food was like, I ordered the lunch special #D, I was not asked what meat I wanted. The food was pretty bad, the interior was dirty filthy the fans had stuff on it looks like a year better the windows were not clean had food slapped up on it the salt and pepper shakers were dirty smudge with food food on the side of the windows ledge just overall appearance of the building was bad. read more

We came here for lunch and we were served pretty quick. However this is the first time that we have been to a Mexican restaurant that you don't get chips and salsa before your meal. The food was a little bland and we had to ask for drink refills. Not sure yet if we will come back. read more

This place use to be my favorite. But I wanted to see what everyone was talking about. So for 3 Friday's in a row I went to satisfy my curiosity. What my friends were saying is correct. The employees were drinking some were drunk. To top it off I heard a employee say the owner buys beer every Friday and when they want they get it from the bar. One Friday there was Karaoke at the bar drunk wemon and singing a disgrace. This is no long a family friendly place to bring your kids. One female employee let a string of cuss words a mile long. There a lot more but I'm tired of writing. I am making one more visit tonight to see what happens and bye the way everyone I ha video's. One more quick note the owner likes to talk about his employees. Totally uncalled for he was more interested in getting people drunk to drive home. I think the people need to complain before someone gets hurt or killed... read more

I was in Jasper on a business trip. I absolutely love Mexican food so I thought I'd give a try here. On two separate visits I ordered the dinner for 2 to go. It was above my expectations. Great steak fajitas! The portion size is impressive too, my fiance and I usually share an order. The margaritas were pretty generous with the tequila as well. She was pretty happy after just one, to the point that if I really wanted to push it I probably could have got lucky in the parking lot. read more

We started eating here because its closest to home. If it wasn't good, I'd go elsewhere. Always good food and generous portions. I normally order by phone and pick up.
