I think they try very hard here, and my car seems to come out fine each time, but there always seem to be an issue, which inevitably involves the work on my car taking a lot longer than quoted/anticipated. The first time I used them was for tires. I initially planned on ordering tires from an online discount tire store, and then just having this store install them. However, the person manning the counter convinced me I could get the same exact tires for the same exact price going directly through them. Okay, sold. I made arrangements to drop my car off first thing in the morning, get a ride to work, get my tires installed, then pick it up at lunch time. However, even though I made these arrangement five days in advance, the store didn't actually have the tires in stock when I dropped my car off. The tires did finally arrive and were installed, but I had to pick up my car later than I had planned on. My most recent visit I came in for brakes. Although the price quoted was higher than the other place I got a quote from, since I was already there and the guy manning the desk told me it would take 'about an hour', I decided to go ahead and do it. Long story short, they don't have the brakes in stock that they needed to install, so they had to order it for delivery from a nearby store, and the whole brake replacement ends up taking two hours. They were apologetic and gave me a deep discount on the price originally quoted, but it was still very frustrating. read more

I had my car balanced a few months ago. They got my car in and out pretty quickly. My car has been driving great ever since and the wear on my tires look perfect! (Before the balance my tires were wearing down on the inside of both front tired) read more

Tried to gouge me for fixing an entire A/C compressor when it only needed a much smaller repair. Staff was condescending and assumed I was a gullible dumb woman who would shell out the $.I had to argue with them to just get my car back so I could take it for a second opinion elsewhere bc they weren't taking no for an answer. not trust this Pep Boys. read more

I have been using this Pep Boys location for several years now and have always had exceptional service. I often stop by just to have the air in my tires checked and they happily take care of it right away. I just had to replace all 4 tires and Alberto, store Mgr was so polite, helpful and communicative! I highly recommend this shop for all automotive services. read more

Customer service is horrible! Had alternator put in while in Florida for 1100. Month later it went out. Was in a bad area when I broke down and called to get towed to nearest shop. Shop put a new GM alternator in the 600. Called pep boys and asked to be reimbursed for just the part. Spoke with Roger who is the manager. Had attitude, disrespectful, and said he'll check into it. Always great service and quiet fair price.I love the location at Gunn Highway. Unfortunately, I find the prompt service of Walmart and Stadium Toyota better. When you make an appointment , you should be in and out in 45 minutes but I was rudely told that its 1 hour and a half just for the oil change. It did not affect much of my perception though as I have gotten better /prompt service in the past . I will never go there but I wish them all the best and thx for the services in the past. read more

Stan is definitely the man. I went in today for tires and front brakes. Pep boys told me I didn't need front brakes....yes, I was lied to from the dealer. The guys at pep boys hooked me up with 4 new tires and I was so impressed with them I upgraded my alignment package. Great service! They explained the problem, showed/gave me the broken part, and gave estimates for the repair (varying based on the potential degree of the issue) before doing anything so I was fully aware of what was happening and not taken by surprised. I really appreciated their great attitude and time to explain everything & answer questions. It made a stressful/unplanned car repair as smooth as possible! I went for an oil change and They did rotate the tires without asking me. My car was shaking a lot and When I called them to fix the problem, they told me I have to pay for the balance for the tires. I told them I didnt ask for the tire rotation and they did it without asking me, they didnt do their job properly , and now they want me the pay for the problem they caused. They refused the fix the problem unless I pay them. I' ve been going this place almost a year and I've never had problem before. But, they didnt care. It is all about making more money. read more

Excellent customer service. I had my car towed here for a low $25 fee by calling the Pep Boys toll free number. Very friendly service. Diagnosed my car issue and repaired with only a small wait. I had an issue about 3-4 weeks ago with having an appointment and there being a wait time once I showed up. Wrote a pretty lengthy harsh review on what happened and who I talked to in store. Less than 1 week after I posted the review on Yelp, Pep Boy's corporate reached out to me via email. A day later I was contacted by a manager at the store, Stan, to help me out with my problem. Stan called me to make an new appointment because he wanted to make me a satisfied customer. I booked an appointment only to find out that on that day I had to be on a plane for work. Called Stan the day of my appointment and told him the situation. With no questions asked he "said no problem let's book a new appointment for you." We made a new appointment 2 weeks out (6/5/16). On 6/5/16, the day of the appointment, Stan was there at the desk to greet me. Told him I was here for my appointment @ 10am. They took my car in right away to re-balance my tires. He asked me if they can do anything else for me today and I said "nope, just need the tires balanced." They quickly finished up with my car in about 1 hour. Stan told me my car was ready to go! He gave me some paper work with a handshake and a smile and I was on my way! He didn't charge me for the balancing! (due to my prior bad experience with the appointment/ other manager.) Stan really cares about making sure the customer is happy with car service done at this Pep Boys! I will mostly likely return to this Pep Boys just because of the excellent customer service Stan provided! read more

After seeing a bubble in my tire and the wire coming out with no spare tire and knowing that they close in 30 minutes..Michelle and Alex were caring enough to take care of me and stay to do it. I wish I could give my experience a -1. I had to update my great review from a few months ago. Unfortunately, Stan is no longer there. I had read a review about Kurt, but I figured maybe someone just had a bad day. I went in for a routine oil change. I had actually just gotten new tires the day before elsewhere. 1st, I approached the counter & got the blandest "how can i help you?" He looked so annoyed that someone was there. I went on a Thursday, so apparently there is 10% discount on certain days for w/ military Ids. Now do not get me wrong, i am not upset at the fact I couldn't use that discount because i already had a coupon. So, after they lift my car - Kurt comes out from the shop. He informs me I need (something I dont even know the name of) & tells me what lights I'm missing. I ask what that is and what's wrong with it. He legit ROLLED HIS EYES and stared blankly at my face. Clearly, if I knew what he was talking about, I wouldn't have asked. I am not good with cars and their parts, so all I needed to know was what I needed and why. He gave me a 2 word answer and I declined because why would I want to continue doing business with someone who speaks to me that way and looks at me like that? As I'm getting ready to pay, he looks at me and says $30 and some change. And i ask "oh ok, is that with the military discount?" (At this point he isnt even looking at me hes staring into space), and says "you can't combine discounts." And I reply "Oh ok, that's fine. Why didn't you tell me that when I mentioned my coupon and the military discount before?" He completely cuts off my last part of my sentence, and repeats the price loudly. I look at him as I'm swiping my card & ask him if he's the store manager & he replys "Yup." I nodded. He asks me if I have my keys. (No Kurt, why would I have my keys, if you have them...) i said no & he grabs them & only charges me for the air freshner. I ask him why & he says it's on him because we "got off to a bad start." As Im finishing up, he says "wow you have alot of miles on that car and it's well taken care of" i thank'd him and went on my way. As I'm driving my car, i feel/hear a weird consistent noise on the drivers side... and then I look at my miles & he switched it from mph to km. So it looked like 300,000 miles. At this point, I realized why that compliment was even said. I took it back & explained, again, he looks at me blankly, rolls his eyes & asks me "what do you want me to do about it?" I stare at him & advise him to fix it. We had a tech drive it and he didnt feel anything, I dropped the tech off and left. Received a grammatically incorrect e-mail from Kurt later on asking it to be brought in. I will NEVER ever do business again. read more

Went in for just a simple oil change and tire rotation. Car was done around 1:50 pm. I understand it should take about an hour for this service. They had two cars in the bay. Unfortunately I had watched your employee cashed out people who came in after my service began. How do I know? I watched them coming in requesting which service they needed at the time. As I'm writing this review, two other customers came in asking for a car diagnostic. Instead of cashing out a customer who's service was done over an hour ago, he handles the other two first. This was by far the worst customer service I had ever received at any business ever! When I went to pay for the services provided, he tried to act cool and said "oh it just got done right now". I don't like to write reviews ever but holy crap this places sucks for service. If you want to waste your entire afternoon here, definitely get your service done here. read more

I stopped here at exactly closing time on a Sunday. I had accidentally locked the valet mode on my 2019 Challenger , and I could not get it to deactivate. Adelberto looked up some common fixes on the Internet, then had me pull my car up so he could disconnect the battery for a minute or two. It worked!!! I tried to pay him....at least for his time... and he absolutely refused. Customer service here was spectacular. I will recommend this pep boys to all of my coworkers in Tampa. Go to this location and ask for Kurt if you want to be treated like scum. This guy is rude and not helpful at all. I went in for an oil change and he was very combative about the coupon I was using. I ended up leaving and going to another location. This location has terrible customer service. I was in the lobby for a solid 25 minutes before the assistant manager Adalberto finally greeted me. Upon being told over the phone they could patch a tire for me, i get there and he immediately says it's going to be about two hours for a simple 20 minute job. after offering him extra money to expedite my services he went to the garage area to "see if he could fit me in" knowing I was tight on time. dude had the nerve to talk about what kind of sandwich he was going to eat for lunch with his coworkers before coming back another almost 15 mins later. I came up the road to Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center and it's like night and day. They got me checked in and my car in the garage quicker than it took Adalberto to figure out what sandwich he wanted. Long story short, go anywhere else. read more

The worst Pep Boys I have ever been to. Front desk has no customer service whatsoever! I was told an hour wait to do a simple tire rotation ok whatever. I never was checked in for my vehicle information and then 2-3 other people came after to me and got checked in. I will never go back to this location ever. I suggest Pep Boys does some evaluating of who they let run their store.
