Ordered tires and made appointment online, show up and tires were not there. I drive over an hour to this location because the online inventory for my local store indicated they did not have this tire; however website said this location had them. There seamed to be great confusion as to why my tires were not here. They stated that online inventory is often incorrect, which I honestly don't believe. So they tell me they are in a truck making deliveries and will be in soon. My appointment was for 1pm. its currently 4pm and I'm still waiting on the delivery truck that may or may not show. While waiting the front desk phone rings incessantly without anyone ever answering it. My biggest mistake was not calling another store in this area that provides free alignments and quoted me $300 less. caveat emptor read more

On the way through from Florida to Arkansas our vehicle began to break down. We were only able to make it into their parking lot by luck. Katrina worked with us at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon to squeeze us in and get us back on the road, after one of the most stressful days traveling we have ever had. I can't speak enough for the curtousey that was shown to us. We offered Katrina a tip multiple times and she refused, Pep Boys corporate, if your reading this you have a good employee with her, you can't ask for that kind of integrity! I do not think I have ever had a worse experience with a business. 1 star is too high of a rating. On Black Friday, I ordered a set of tires online to be installed at the Phenix City location. The appointment was scheduled online, and the tires fully paid for. My husband arrived Saturday for the appointment and waited an entire hour before he was notified the tires were not in stock. When management was asked why the tires showed in stock online, they admitted there was a known issue between the online system and the store inventory. There was no attempt to make it right. They were not even apologetic about the inconvenience or the time my husband wasted sitting there. Instead, they were rude and informed us if we were not happy, we were more than welcome to call the 1-800 number. When asked when the tires were expected in stock, we were told it would probably be Monday, Tuesday at the latest. Monday arrives no tires. Tuesday still no tires. We spent the next two weeks on the phone for hours with either customer service at the 1-800 number or the store to no avail. Each time we were promised, the tires would be in the next day or two, and each time they were not. They offered to cancel my order and refund my money several times, but I had wasted so much time with their business that sales at reputable companies were over. After two weeks, I spoke with management and requested the tires be swapped for something comparable that was in stock. They refused. I was instead quoted a price for tires that were twice the amount I had already paid. When I declined and let them know I would not be paying one penny more than the amount I had paid online, we were met with another brick wall. The store manager informed us the price I paid online was not the in-store price and therefore, could not be honored. By now, my blood is boiling, and I spend several more hours on the phone with customer service. Finally, I am contacted by the store manager, who acts as if she is doing me a favor by agreeing to honor the amount I had paid. The tires I purchased were 265 70 18. While on the line, she informed me three of my four tires had come in, but they were unsure if or when the 4th would arrive. As an alternative, they could install the three that had arrived and replace the fourth with a 265 65 18. I never have in all of my life heard anyone put three tires on a truck that are one size and one tire that is another size. I refused. After three weeks of waiting, they finally had all four tires in stock. They called to set up an appointment and gave me the total that would be due at the time of installation. I reiterated the fact that I had already paid for the tires online. I was informed the 1 800 number would need by called to request the online purchase be refunded because I would need to pay in the store. Are you freaking kidding me?! The money was refunded three days later and the appointment set. Upon arrival, they were just as rude as they had been the three weeks prior. The vehicle was not ready at the time they said it would be. When we finally got the truck home, my husband noticed two of the four Nissan tire caps were missing. When the truck was dropped off, it had four tire caps. When we picked it up, it only had two. We contacted the assistant manager, who said he would look into the incident and give us a callback. He did not call back. We called the store repeatedly for a week. Finally, to be told, there was a video of the technician reapplying all four caps. If they were not on the vehicle now, they had no idea where they could be, and they were not responsible for them. I don't have the time or energy to pursue the matter any further. I will never do business with Pep Boys again under any circumstances. The few dollars I saved was definitely not worth the headache. I will stick with reputable, upstanding companies that value their customers, such as Sam's Club or Walmart. read more

I went there after a long day on Sand Hill to replace two worn tires and a potential puncture and they were very accommodating. The mechanic, Billy, was absolutely phenomenal in him taking the time to show me that the previous mechanics, who I had gone to for about three years, had almost stripped my threads and showed me that the tire actually hadn't been punctured. Besides that they were very friendly, even with a full schedule they took me in two hours before closing. They aligned my tires, ensured to update my CarFax, gave me a military discount though I wasn't in uniform, and was just an overall amazing experience. They didn't pull any shady moves or anything. Quick, to the point, and professional. You don't get service like this often AND they took off the plug charge for tire because it didn't need to be plugged which truly showed, Billy's and the company's, professionalism. Definitely will be going back to them for routine maintenance and getting my rear tires. read more

I had been to a few gas stations to attempt to put air in a low tire and every one I had gone to was "out of service". I stopped into Pep Boys and Anthony came out to my truck and saw that the tire wasn't only leaking but there was a huge screw in it! They patched the hole and got me on my way in no time. I took my car here for a heater core hose leak they kept saying they were going to call me when it was done. They did not call me I had to keep calling and the young lady kept giving me the run around. All she would say was another hour it turned into 6 hours. After I got my car back I drove it twice and it was leaking again. I called and they did tow it for free but to cover there butt of course it was something else wrong with it. They called and told me my car would be fixed by 2pm and agin they will call me and again they did not. I kept calling and the young lady again gave me the run around. Her favorite thing to say is another hour which turns into hours later still with no call. read more

Broke down at Home Depot behind them and needed a belt and tensioner for my Dodge Ram..... the manager got on the phone and found the parts for me and got them to the store in 15 min.... very impressed as I didn't have them do the labor... most shops won't do that... good , quick service and would recommend to anyone. read more

My husband and I were at this location this morning to get an oil change before a road trip. He stood at the counter for almost 10 minuets waiting to be helped. No one came up so as we were leaving we saw all the employees standing around socializing. Very disappointed. read more

Facility was supposed to be open at 7. No lights and completely dark at 7:15 I was driving off and decided to call. Lady answered phone. I asked what time they opened she said 7. Said gate was down because it's cold. I said there was no one at your counter at 7:15. While on the phone she appeared at the counter. The facility waiting room was nasty. Bathrooms were disgusting. My six year old grandson stepped in urine in the men's restroom. Trash cans were over flowing in both bathrooms. No one cleaned them while I waited on car 30 minutes and it was evident they were not cleaned the night before. read more

Heard nothing but good things about Pep Boys so I figured I would give them a try. Customer service is definitely not one of their strong points. As busy as they are, one would think they would have two people manning the counter, but they don't. Average wait time to talk to someone is 15-25 minutes, that is unless the phone starts ringing, when it does, you may want to get a drink out of the vending machine, you'll be there a while. Their work seemed on the up and up, although slow, and I got my vehicle back running much better. The issue I really have with this store is their lack of professionalism and care for your car. As I walked up to my car I had greasy fingerprints all over the fenders and doors. I opened my door and there was grease and oil smeared all over the door jam plastic and carpeting of my car. A simple paper mat and paying attention to what they were doing would have avoided this. Needless to say I will never return and now have inherited a few hours of detailing my Corvette. read more

Today I went in to have the headlights changed on a toyota tacoma. I provided the lights. I was quoted a 2 hour job at a total of $148. I call back a short time later and it had already been completed. I found out that the 2 hour job had actually taken 15mins. Hard to believe they would still charge $148 or $16 a minute and nmaintain a straight face. read more

I bought my tires from them back in April. Went in for an oil change and tire rotation in Oct. I got the high-mileage change and had a $15 off coupon. Reg. price $39.99-15.00=$24.99. Total I paid was $46.25...by time a shop fee, tax, labor, & gumout was added. The first 3 things, I don't have a problem with. The gumout additive ($7.95) I was not informed of needing nor given an option of declining. Sorry, but I will only be going in to have my tires rotated as needed.
