Pep Boys Broke Their Promise, Then Blamed Us! Me and my wife created an account at Pep Boys and made an appointment online to have our vehicle serviced on Friday, May 23rd at 11 am at 4700 Mobile Highway in Pensacola, Florida. We arrived at 10:50 am on Friday at the store. When we got to the service desk, a female employee told us that there was at least a 5 hour wait, but we kindly said we have an appointment. She said it didn't matter because they were busy. So we left without being helped. When we got home, we found an offensive email sent to us from Pep Boys which read: "Sorry you couldn't make your recent service appointment with us -- do you want to set another time?" Pep Boys wrongly accused us in the email of not showing up for the appointment, but we did show up; they were the ones who didn't show up and broke their promise! It was Pep Boys who didn't honor our appointment. What's the use of scheduling an appointment, if Pep Boys is not going to honor it? An appointment doesn't mean waiting 5 or more hours to have your vehicle serviced. We just wanted our air conditioning looked at, because it's not putting out cold air. An appointment means being timely, not first come first serve. This is unethical. I understand that things can become busy and hectic, but at a minimum someone at the store should have called to let us know beforehand that the appointment couldn't be honored, instead of wasting our time to drive to Pep Boys just to be told we'd have to wait for 5 or more hours. That is no way to run a business. We won't be going back! We'll go somewhere else where an appointment means something. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. They are rude and do not care about your car. I have a new Mercedes with white seats and was given it back with black oil covering my seats. I am beyond furious. Not to mention they parked my car in red dirt and now my tires are filthy. My seats are stained, and I am having to pay to try and get it out from a detailer. I repeat, never use this location. AAA towed my truck to Pep Boys on Cervantes Street because it was within the free radius. They replaced the battery and the starter. It was later proven that there was nothing wrong with the starter. They charged me hundreds of dollars for something I didn't need, and when I complained to the corporate office, I was offered a refund at the local store, but I am having to involve the BBB because after many weeks, the refund has not yet been processed. The manager, Mr. Bonifay, and the Area Director, Mr. Duffield, seem to be waiting it out until I ultimately give up. The 800 number for customer service for Pep Boys is not helpful either. Whether the original issue was a mistake or dishonesty, I won't know, but what has happened since is clearly dishonest. read more

***AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS *** Dropped car off with clear instructions not to have it touched or worked on until I could be there in person today 1/14/19 upon calling them this morning they have already started "diagnostic services" I will not be paying for a service that I told them specifically not to do until I was there in person to go over what is wrong with the vehicle. This is one of the many reasons this shop is the worst rated in Pensacola. Do not bring your cars or trucks here they are underqualified and unskilled "mechanics" if you can even call them that. read more

*!BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!* My boyfriend took his car to get two tires put on. Gave clear instructions on where the new tires go. When we got the car back it was in limp mode, and didn't go over 20mph. Brought the car back for the limp mode because they said they could work on the code, then said he needed a new throttle body(which ended up being 1k). The whole reason for the car being in limp mode, was because the bigger tires were in the front and the small tires were in the back. You would think if you work at a place that's known to work on tires they would maybe notice something like that. Once we got the car back the new $1,000 throttle body was not learned right, idealing in a weird spot, and kept dying, and a VQ sounded like it was cammed V8. We brought it back AGAIN so the throttle body could be learned right. As we were pulling into the parking lot to pick the car up again a guy who was parked next to my boyfriends car was slamming his door into my boyfriends door and did it twice! Once we got into the car my boyfriend couldn't find his clutch pedal... wanna guess where it was? It was ALLLL the way pushed in. HOW DO YOU GET OUT OF A CAR YOU JUST WORKED ON AND GO "yup this is fine, call em and tell em it's ready". We go back into the place and tell them that the car is yet again fucked up. We had to wait 24-48 hours just to get the car back because the guy who works on clutches wasn't there. My father who is dead could do all of that 100 times better than whatever the fuck they did. Please stay away from this. They aren't cheap, a scam, and complete fucking idiots. read more

John and his team at the Pepboys on Cervantes always take care of me. This was the third time this year getting a nail in my tire and before ordering a new one, they stayed late and checked to see if my flat could just be plugged instead of buying a whole new one! Saved me about $120 and they stayed 20mins passed closing to plug up my flat and switch out my spare. Great guys and super friendly! read more

BEWARE NEED APPOINTMENT, I say this even after I called the day before requesting a appointment to get my oil changed and car hatch looked over. Paul told me there was no need to have an appointment that it would be fine to bring by early in the morning and I would have my car by noon. I went this morning at 7:15am to drop car off with my car and was told by, Jay, there would be no time to get to my car because I didn't have an appointment. I am a working mother and honstely do not have time for this nonsense, this is why I called the day before. I have had similar experienes before with customer care issues. I am starting to think its because I am female because my husband does not seem to have this same issue. I plan to take both of are business elsewhere. read more

Today was my first visit to this Pep Boys location. They did an amazing job restoring my foggy headlights. And Lorraine kindly pointed out to me a significant discount that I wasn't even aware of. One thing that puzzles me, however, is why would you have your mechanics perform a courtesy vehicle inspection (offered along with the oil change) and not provide the customer with a corresponding point-by-point inspection report (i.e., a checklist) that indicates the status of everything that's been looked over? I'm not picking on the Cervantes crew specifically, because this issue seems to be typical of Pep Boys in general. Just take it as a friendly suggestion. read more

SCAMMERS! If you're a woman beware of this place. I had a nail in my tire and the guy tells me it can't be fixed so he charges me for a new $100 tire. He tells me he works on commission but would never make somebody pay more than they needed to. My boyfriend goes up there and the story completely changes. We won't be back. Went to get a hole in one tire plugged and they told me it would take a few hours. It took them over 8 hours to do it and they never called me to update me or tell me when it was done. I definitely would recommend going somewhere else. read more

If I could give more stars, I would. I was traveling back home to New Orleans and had a flat tire. I was with my child, so this was a very stressful experience. I called to the Pep Boys on Cervantes and was assisted by Jay. I cannot say enough for this man and his staff. They had two new tires on my car in record time and I was so happy with everything! The price was amazing, the service was perfect, and the kindness and compassion of Jay, was stellar. For what could have been a terrible experience, ended so positively. I have been using this store since 2007 when it was Big Ten. The vehicle is nearing 300,000 (295288) miles. The crew at store #1538 is the best i have encountered. My main thing about vehicle service is trusting the staff. These guys are awesome, honest and unequaled integrity. They always contact you on the service and willingly meet your expectations. This is by far the worst auto shop i have ever been in. I was quoted over $400 in parts and labor to do a front brake and rotor replacement - seemed a bit too much so i took it to a different shop that only charged me $80 bucks to have my rotors rotated and new pads installed. Additionally, they charged me 90$ just for the inspection of the brakes (and $14 bucks to replace my light bulb). In regard to light bulb - I have brought my own set which were an upgrade from previous set. Since only one of my light was out, the "manager" only decided to replace the broken one - which means that I now have a mismatched brightness on my headlights. To make matters worse, he argued with me about it, claiming that they were identical. Bottom line is - stay away from this shop. They have no idea what they are doing but will gladly take your $$$$. I wish i could give them Zero stars, but Yelp is too polite. read more

I took my car in to have the timing and serpentine belts changed and was quoted a price of $1,200 for repairs. After quotes of $700 and $900 from other local shops, they agreed to "price match" and in the end I paid almost $800 just to have the job finished and avoid the hassle of changing garages. A month later I've paid an additional $500 at a more reputable local shop for problems that were caused by engine parts left loose at PepBoys. I was so impressed with the manager and staff at this Pep Boys. I had a flat tire last night, and I had already replaced 2 of my tires, and this was one that I had not replaced yet, and was in need of it. So, while the tow truck was on the way (I have one of those cars that no longer has a spare), I was on the phone with Jay. He advised me that they did not have the tires in that I would need but could get them from another location the next day, or I could get my vehicle towed to that location. I had out of town guests coming into town the next day that I would need to pick up from the airport, and told him that, so really did not want to way until the next day. So, I called the other Pep Boys to make those arrangements. While I was on the phone, Jay called back. He realized he had an employee he though had left, but was still there. He offered to send Joe to go get the tires so he could be back with them before the toe truck arrived. This was much better for me, as this location was less than a mile from where my car sat with a flat tire. When Joe got back with my tires, Jay called to check and I informed him the tow truck had just picked up my car, so should be there shortly. They got my car right in and got the tires changed quickly. They even stayed late to get me back on the road yet that night. My car, literally, got there at closing time. So major Kudos to Jay, Joe, and Robert - the mechanic changing my tire! I will definitely bring my service back to this location. read more

I have been to this Pep Boys twice now in the last 2 months, and both times has been quite satisfactory. Two months back I called around for tire prices and they had the best - way better than the Honda dealership, and a bit better than Firestone. They were in stock, and installed while i waited. More recently, i thought i needed an new alternator - turned out it was just a battery, and the price they quoted me was, again, way better than the dealership, and still better than a few other places i called around to. Moreover, they could have told me i needed a new alternator at around 470 bucks, (which is what i expected) and i never would have known. I worked with a guy named Eric, who was courteous, informative and efficient. I have been to other Pep Boys (in Pennsylvania) and was dismayed at the lousy work (i had to bring it back) and the equally lousy customer service. This one (on Cervantes) is nothing like that. Took my car to Pep Boys Cervantes this morning b/c it had a chirpy belt noise. They called and told me the AC belt and the alternator belt had to be replaced plus my front brakes too. I told the guy that my brakes weren't making any noise and holding well and I couldn't afford to do that right now. Then he quotes me $240 for the belts which included a $20 labor warranty (!) and another $30 in misc charges over the cost of the belts and $110 hr labor. Because I could not afford to do it this week, I went to the shop and told them I'd have to wait a week. They charged me a $19.99 eval fee and told me to wait till the mechanic put the wheel back on and got it off the lift. I watched the guy fiddle with the underfront of my car for a good 5 to 7 mins while the wheel lay on the ground. Of course I was wondering, "What the H is he doing under my car?" I drove the car off the lot and around the corner and got hit with a HORRIFIC noise. I thought, "Is that coming from my car?" Then the noise stopped. Then it came back on - I swear I kept looking around because I thought, "that can't be coming from my car," but yes, it was. I thought the engine was going to fall out. I had to pull over at the nearest auto shop where the mechanic who listened to it told me it was my compressor! How does the compressor coincidentally, magically get an issue between driving my car into and out of Pep Boys??!! I AM LIVID!! Did they do that expecting I would have to turn my car around and go back - only to face even more work and charges??!!! UNBELIEVABLE? I had to get a ride back to work- called Pep Boys and they said they didn't do anything but put it on the rack and I told the guy about the mechanic fiddling under my car while my tire lay on the ground for a good 5 to 7 mins and he denied it all and told me to call a 1800 #. Now one of my coworkers and a neighbor are sharing their horror stories about the place. DO NOT GO TO PEP BOYS ON CERVANTES - YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! read more
