I am shaking as I type this. On 8/7/25, I--a disabled veteran--was humiliated, disrespected, and discriminated against by the employees at Pep Boys #1527. What should have been a simple service appointment turned into one of the most degrading experiences of my life. I arrived for my 9:00 a.m. service appointment and parked in the handicapped space directly in front of the store. I checked in with Richard, the service took about 30 minutes, and I paid with no issues. But when I got into my car, I froze. Sitting on my passenger seat was a handwritten note telling me not to park in handicapped parking because I'm "not handicapped." That moment is burned into my memory. My hands shook. My heart pounded. I was stunned that anyone--let alone a business entrusted with my vehicle--would violate my private space and judge my disability, something they know nothing about. I immediately went back inside and asked to speak with the manager. Richard claimed the manager "might be out delivering parts" and wasn't answering his phone. I sat in the waiting area for nearly half an hour, feeling exposed and humiliated as other employees stared at me from the service bays. When the manager, Wes, finally arrived, I expected concern and professionalism. Instead, I got condescension: "So you assume one of my employees did this?" and "How do you know it wasn't a customer?" His tone made it clear--he didn't believe me. Only after I pressed did he mention cameras. He also showed me a picture of his African American wife and spoke of his biracial children, making the entire interaction even more uncomfortable and dismissive. Hours later, Wes called from what appeared to be his personal cell phone to tell me I was right--the camera showed his employee AND the employee confessed. But instead of focusing on the harm done, Wes went on about Florida handicap parking laws and his unwarranted phone call to the DMV, completely missing the point: One of his employees invaded my personal property, left a cruel note, and judged me for my disability. I was offered an apology from the employee, but I could not bring myself to return to the place where I had been shamed and violated. Wes later texted that the employee would be suspended without pay, but the damage was already done. I left Pep Boys feeling smaller, angrier, and more humiliated than I have in years. This wasn't just bad service--this was discrimination, harassment, and a violation of my dignity. No customer, disabled or otherwise, should ever have to experience this. read more

I came in today asking for my battery to be replaced in my truck as my dash gauges had cut off earlier in the day as the result of an old battery. My battery was 5 years old, so I expected issues, especially when the battery voltage gauge was low. I went here on the way to the beach and pulled in around 12:30 central. As I write this, it is 3:00 central time with the expected time for my vehicle to be done at 5 pm central. I was told that the alternator and battery were fine even though I clearly know that there is a problem. The simple solution is to put a battery in when I asked for it. I already knew the problem and issue I simply needed a battery to fix it. Autozone and O'Riley auto parts typically come out and look at your vehicle before quickly changing the battery in the parking lot to conserve time. That was the whole point of coming here. I couldn't find an autozone or O'Riley, so I expected this to be a fast simple fix that took less than thirty minutes as all of Pep Boys competition does. NOPE! It's taken several hours and took two hours for someone to even take a look. I was expecting to enjoy a fine vacation on the beach, but instead, I'm spending my hard earned time off work at an auto repair store that does a poor job. If I would have known it would've taken this long I would've replaced the battery myself, but I kind of just wanted to enjoy my vacation without WORKING on vehicles like I do at home. read more

My boyfriend and I were here visiting on vacation and the guy in the front (Mike) was incredibly friendly and personable. Our ac compressor went out on the travel down so we were without a car for 5 hours. Mike went out of his way to pay for our lyft back to the condo to get back to our vacation. I had made a next day appointment for an oil change. I walked in a little before noon and said I had made an appointment online the day before. The man behind the counter looked at his computer and said he didn't have my appointment. I showed him my confirmation on my phone. He went off telling me the appointment time was just for dropping off the car or some BS like that. He told me that it would be 1 1/2 to 2 hours because his guys were working on another car and he wasn't going to pull one away from what they were doing. He was arrogant, condescending and insulting. I told him I had been coming to Pep Boys for years and always made an appointment without problems. He said he's worked for them for 40 years this is how it works. He said at one point "why are you trying to make this difficult!" Apparently online appointments mean nothing. I was treated like trash. As a customer, I have never dealt with a bigger jerk in my life. A complete waste of time. I don't know if this situation or these types of employees are common at Pep Boys but if not, they have one big ol rotten apple in their barrel and he's working right there on 23rd St in Panama City FL. We stopped in on a Sunday morning for an oil change. We got the synthetic oil change, tire rotation, brake inspection and a wiper blade installed for $59.98. They were friendly, fast, and included a bottle of fuel system cleaner for my 2013 Ford with high mileage (113,000). We were quickly out of there. The Pep Boys locations are tied in with Car Fax so they made a maintenance record for my vehicle which helps with trade-in and sale value. Thanks guys! I would definitely stop in again when I need a service. read more

I had a flat tire last Saturday October the 21st of October. Man behind the counter said they could not fix this flat. They don't patch. Which I understood. I didn't have enough time to install four tires, they had a buy three get one free, so I asked him if I got one tire could I come back the following Saturday and get the other three on that same deal? He said yes. I just got back from there where the guy said they would not honor the buy three get one free because I didn't buy them at the same time. He lied to me. I will not go back, and I will relate this to all my friends. read more

I unfortunately went to the wrong Pep Boys after being referred and making an appointment. The manager called later in the day to see if I was still coming in. I could not but wished I had as he had excellent customer service skills and the manager at the Pep Boys I went to did not. I do plan to go back to the right location soon, especially with the gracious way this manager handled me as a no show. read more

I feel like they took advantage of me. I believe they overcharged me for installing a tire. I will definitely check around before coming back. I was going to bring the vehicle in tomorrow for a front in alignment but I'll go somewhere else. read more

Pep Boys - Tires Near Me - Panama City, Florida

Went in because of an advertised "Free AC check". The "Free AC check" is a scam to get you in the door. You tell them what the AC is doing/not doing...and THATS the end of the "Free AC check". But they are glad to do an almost 70$ "Evaluation". After almost 3 hours, the lead "mechanic" tells me that basically the entire AC needs rebuilding, to the tune of almost $1500. But they'd be glad to knock off $500. But they refilled the refrigerant during the evaluation. So we left and I bought a few AC fuses and replaced them for less than 30$. I know mechanics aren't going to do their jobs for free, but to straight up try and scam me, after a ridiculous Free AC check lie, is ridiculous. A quick trip to Advance Auto saved me a $1000. read more

This place is a typical "try to upsale" establishment. As a woman walking in they immediately saw me as a possible upsale. Of course they told me my cabin filter needed changed, my light above my license was dead blah blah. I went there for a oil change and also asked them to plug a nail in my tire. They came back out and told me they couldn't plug the tire due to where the nail was located. I stated, "you have the tire off?" They said yes so I requested they showed me. He went back for a few minutes then came back and got me. Now before I went in we saw a nail in the tread of my tire.. very possible to plug. When I went out there.. there was now another nail in the wall of the tire. Obviously I don't have prof but my gut tells me they put that nail in the wall. I told them to put everything back in my car finish my oil change and that I was taking the tire somewhere else. A little while later I got my brakes changed. All of my lug nuts had to be replaced due to this place putting them on soooo tight. The guy said there was no reason why someone would put them on that tight. I will never return to this place. Picked up a nail in my Pontoon trailer tire coming back from Cape San Blas. Stopped by this store to get it patched as I didn't think it would make it back to Alabama. The staff was super helpful, the store was clean, and the bathroom immaculate (in a tire repair shop Of all places!). The guy at the front desk, Zach was super helpful and great. I highly recommend him and this store. read more

Terrible experience!!! I waited 4hrs with a mask on in the lobby for the unpleasant manager name Bruce to tell me the machine to do the coolant flush was broken. His attitude about it was like oh well. there's nothing we can do. My take is that they were closing and didn't feel like doing the job. The time I was there sitting in the Lobby he was unpleasant to other customers as well. I will never come here again and will not recommend anyone to come here. I thought your mantra was 5 star service. Well I give it a negative 5 stars. Bruce should go home and get a new attitude if he wants to work and serve the public. If you want Pep Boys 5 star service, go to the beach location where they do it right! I should have went there instead! read more

arrogant and beyond unprofessional employees AND managers. Their current rivalry with Autozone is beyond despicable and truly unprofessional on so many levels. They quite literally roll their eyes and talk crap when you mention ANY other auto store other than pepboys. As a customer, my intent was to take it to a professional that could help me fix the problems in my vehicle. Instead they decided to be vindictive and spiteful toward me as a customer by doing work that did not need to be done on my car AND charged me for it. Their mechanic literally said word for word that the work he did on my car did not need to be done and then they followed that up with using the fact that I went to Autozone against me. At the end of the day, I paid for work that did not need to be done AND still had a problem occurring in my car that was not fixed, and was not even diagnosed. No one ever offered to provide a further diagnosis or additional suggestion. Mind you, I had been in there 6 months prior with an engine code that read issues with my oil pressure switch and it was occurring again. So when I mentioned this to them, they basically had no additional possible solutions to provide me. As an expert, they treated the situation like it was not important, didn't care to find out the problem and further continued to "stick it to me" by doing work on my car that did not need to be done and charged me for it. What made it worse was that the manager kind of smirked and laughed at the fact that they provided such horrible service. Claimed he cared but then turned around and said it wasn't his problem or fault. Don't waste your money, time, energy or ANYTHING on this store. read more

This place needs more people who know how to work the computer. One man named Bruce is very short with people and needs to learn how to be a little more polite with people. I went in with a battery that had warranty on it and had no on offer to carry it , and they where right. No one knew how to figure out the waranty. I was there for over an hour. After they finally figured it out. I was going to check out and had already told him how I was going to pay, and He rings it up as a cash sale. He gets rude with me because he has to rering the item, and complains the entire time. After being there for an hour I still have no one help me carry out this extremely heavy batety. Will never go back again. Went in to put tires and do an alignment. They did notice an issue with the tie rods, but had to order parts to fix it. No problem, told them to go ahead and change the tires so when the parts come in all they would have to do is put in the new parts and we can quickly get our car back. Once the parts came in, our vehicle was pushed back so their tech could work on more complex projects. Called to find out the progress and was told it should be finished by the end of the day. Called the next day, and was informed it should be done in an hour so we went up there after 2 hours and they had just started working on it. Once they finished with the car, we paid for everything and was getting ready to leave when I noticed the old tires were still on there. Finally got everything resolved after being up there for 2 hours (which was an additional 2 hours after they said it would be done and the 3rd day it has been there), but I still have the stmp light coming on. $1600 and all of the headache, so not worth it. read more

These guys did me a solid. Couldn't get a tire off. Lugs would not break. That got them off FAST. Didn't charge me a dime. I tipped the mechanic and was on my way in 10 minutes tops. AWESOME!!! Definitely will use these guys in the future. Thank you!! read more
