Mechanic shops don't often get their credit when it's due, so I wanted to chime in and sing the praises of this particular location. In typical COVID fashion, I allowed my car battery to die. They're running a special on batteries. 25% off select batteries and free install. Why not? I spoke with Rick on the phone who was sincerely one of the most pleasant, through people ever. I initially had an appointment on Friday that I couldn't fulfill, so I called to reschedule. He was incredibly detailed on the days and times I could reschedule for. Just talking to him put me right at ease. When I dropped off my car, I felt well taken care of and knew my car was in good hands. Waiting to receive a text back for when I can pick it up, but in the meantime, I thought I'd share my warm fuzzies...for a mechanic shop! read more

I really appreciate the positivity and authenticity of this location. After reading the yelp reviews that's what took me to try them. The location is clean and the gentlemen working there are friendly. However I had an appointment and ended up there almost half my day and had to come back as when i drove down street check engine light came back on and I could tell issue was still not fixed sigh. However they were positive but my time is valuable. I would try them again as they were honest about brakes not Needing work etc But I would like a little bit more speed However I can imagine being a mechanic is like being a doctor trying to figure out all the different diagnoses with In many different types and choices of cars. I took in my wife's 2005 Lexus ES 330 for a routine oil change for her birthday. Workorder# 2092079 This shop was already busy with their scheduled appointments, but they were able to still service the vehicle for same day convenience according to cashier # 463350. I was given an estimate of 2- 2 1/2 hours for the car to be ready. An hour after dropping off the car, I was called by the same cashier to alert me that both the engine and cabin air filters needed to be replaced. He provided me with a quote for the extra work and I agreed to the service. The car, however, was not ready to be picked up at the designated time and I didn't hold that against the shop since they were busy. I had already agreed to pick up the vehicle after hours and that's what I did. Here is the reason for why I am giving this shop only 1 star. When I left the vehicle to be serviced, there were three $20 bills in the glove box that my wife had placed there in case of emergencies. After the Lexus was serviced, we discovered that the bills were missing. We looked for the money elsewhere, but neither my wife nor I remember moving the cash around after the vehicle was picked back up from this shop. I phoned the shop and asked if it was possible for the loose cash to have fallen behind the dashboard or the glove box. The person taking my call put me on hold. The technician who worked on the car came on the phone and told me that it was possible that it could have happened as I was suggesting but that no cash was seen in the glove compartment prior to the service. He also named a few items from memory that were in the glove box, which my wife and I confirmed as he was speaking. Today, though, I took the car back to this location to see if the money had indeed fallen behind the boards. No cash was found by the technician. Thus, I am left with the sad fact that this business had taken an extra $60 of untraceable money from our glove box. I don't come to this conclusion solely because money is missing after a service, however. While at the shop today, I was very aware of who had worked on the vehicle and who was responsible for entering in all of the charges. One of those people was at the cashier's desk and he couldn't make or maintain eye contact with the customer that was looking for cash that was lost while their vehicle was in the service bay. I'm also acutely aware that service shops have policies that don't protect property inside of the vehicle and that there is nothing that I can do about this outside of writing this review. The cash is gone after this service and I believe I gave this business enough benefit of the doubt (and opportunity to make this right). Their reputation after the service provided isn't worth more than $60 to my wife and I and we will not be returning to this shop. read more

I've used the Pep Boys in Whitlock Ave for several years and have had good service. That is no longer the case, the last two times I've tried to have my tires rotated the wait has been over two days. I was told they only have techs working to try and service this shop. looks as though Pep Boys corporate is not willing to fix an issue. Never again to take my car to any Pep Boy. read more

Been my car repair spot for years. Had other problems when making appointments...not on record when I got there. The reason I won't be back is the failure to tell the truth. I asked as soon as I entered door if business had picked up and I needed to come back another time. No, he insisted. About thirty minutes later, car still not touched. And the show of hollering at the mechanic doesn't impress me. Just be honest. I understand worker shortage. I get delays. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Consumers really need to BEWARE!! I used to frequent this location. I've purchased tires from there. I would always get my oil changed and have other things inspected or looked at with my vehicle. Well, I thought they were on the up and up but (in my opinion) they have people that work there that don't know what they are doing and they try to take your money for things they say are wrong but really it's something else. Like I stated earlier I purchased tires for my vehicle. I went out of state and had a minor mishap to where it threw the car out of alignment. Well I take the car to PepBoys once I return from my trip and they tell me that they can't align the tires. Now, I have these tires that (per them I need rotated every time I get an oil change) but now you are saying that I can't get them aligned and they also tell me that they can't rotate them. I ride around for about a while thinking that I can't get this taken care of. I go back to PepBoys for another oil change and the front desk guy says "well you know that you have a warranty on your tires and they are worn pretty bad." Well I explain to him what I was told and he proceeds to say "well yeah, that's true but why haven't you come back?" I proceed to tell him that why come back if you tell me that there's nothing you can do for me? Then he wants to know where have I been getting my oil changes. I told him down the street at another location. He says "well they don't rotate tires." Well DUH, I know that! They do oil changes only. Also, I purchased new windshield wipers for my car because I really needed them bad. Well, a few days later it rains and I go to use my wipers and I thought there was something caught in them because while in use all of the window wasn't being cleared and it was hard to see. I go back to PepBoys and explain what happened. The guy at the desk tells me that those are brand new wipers and there's probably residue on my windshield and for me to pour a Coke over the windshield. He said that this will help to remove the buildup and the wipers will work properly. I didn't do that I just cleaned my window really good. The next time it rained the wipers did the same thing. I took the car back to them and once again explained but they wouldn't do anything for me. I vowed to never take my car back to this location and probably never to a PepBoys again if I can help it. I would rather drag my car with a rope and pull it past PepBoys to another location. They have horrible customer service and in my opinion they act as if "women" don't know anything and that they can just tell a woman anything and it should be believed. They also told my husband just recently that he needed a new transmission for his car and it would be over $4000. He took it to another place for a second opinion and they said the transmission was fine that it was another issue that was WAY cheaper. PepBoys is a scam...well at least this location. read more

Had a great experience when i originally bought the set of tires and the "road hazard warranty".   That was when Frankie was still there, but he's apparently retired and the place is not the same. This week I had a ruined tire and contacted the store immediately. The manager initially claimed the there was no record of my having purchased the Road Hazard warranty, so after I took the receipt to the store the manager eventually agreed the damage was legitimately covered under the warranty. Four days later the manager could not tell me when they will have the replacement tire nor could he (Logan) tell when he'll be able to tell me. Discussed the problem with Pep Boys "customer service" (case# 78160 - regarding original service order # 2067994) and sent an email to pepsocial@pepboys.com - no help at all. Mavis Tire just up the street (2283 Dallas Hwy) were able to get the tire the same day. And after I originally contacted their "Customer No-service" I received an email stating only that the "issue has been resolved", and Pep Boys' Customer No-service has the gall to post their canned response to my review, asking me to send my contact info to them so they can "investigate". All my contact info was in my original call/case. Guess they found it because I received their email indicating the case has been resolved. read more

They've always worked with me on pricing, even suggesting coupons when they're available. I stopped in today after I hit an armadillo which caused some damage to the plastic lining on the undercarriage of my car. I wanted to make sure that nothing underneath was compromised. They were able to take a look at it and cut away the plastic pieces that were hanging down and dragging on the road. I was fortunate that the damage was only superficial. They were nice enough to do all of this for me free of charge. Great folks at this location; I'll definitely be back for oil changes and other locations in the future. read more

I got a flat on my truck right by this store, pulled over and asked to buy a tire and they told me if they changed one tire they had to change all for because my truck is 4wheel drive when asked why that is he had no explanation... I have NEVER heard that if your car is 4wheel drive and you catch a flat all of your tires have to be changed.. My husband also works on cars and knows this is a false statement I personally think they just didn't want to assist my husband and I because we're black.. Despite having a rather clean CarFax, there were some tell-tale signs that things were not kosher with the car, and Bob and Frankie were nice enough to show me and explain--- and also took a few minutes to sit down with me and offer suggestions on where they would trust searching for a reliable used car. I went to my usual Pep Boys on Whitlock the other day. An oil change turned to new front brake pads that turned to new calipers. A $70 oil change turned to $600+ for the other things. I say this because Frankie and Genny really took care of me. Genny gave me a coveted coupon for $50 off that I swore I would return the next day. When I was calling around, Chris at the Cobb Parkway location acted clueless to where The Big Chicken was located in conjunction to his location! Who in Marietta doesn't know the Big Chicken? After the scam job they tried to pull on me with the outrageous transmission quote I called yesterday and told them my son would be by after 6PM to pick up the car and take it somewhere else and could they please lock the spare key in the car? They said, sure, no problem. Except they didn't do a damn thing. Now, we have to make yet another trip by to pick up the key but it can't be today because my son won't be able to get there until after 6. If only they knew how to do their job and follow through on directions! I told Logan they should have to drop the key off as I only live 2 miles away. Got new tires from this location and the guys wanted to check my front end alignment the next morning??? Well fine, I think that they may have other reasons to have me back in the next day. No big deal. So I go back the next morning and I'm giving them the benefit of a doubt so I can feel safe to recommend them to my wife. I just had them replaced some dry rotted tires that I didn't feel safe on racing around I-285. The vary old replaced tires had nice even tread still and no sign of any issues with front end alignment after 60,000 miles. I'm sure aged and rotting tires ware would show more easily the fact the front end was out of line with the uneven tread ware that poor alignment creates after just 1000 miles. I'm also still using the breaks the pads they recommended I "replace soon" and the only thing that was out of line were the guys that showed me on there scope that my tires where severely out of line. I'm going to refrain from saying poor things about these guys because the facts are if they feel comfortable doing this to middle aged middle income regular guy in a truck what will keep them from doing the right thing with my wife as a costumer? Is this genitive? It's just a fact that happened one morning in 2018. Oh, great tires though- that are still not showing front end issues with pulling the wheal to one side or the other or showing uneven ware of the tread. I did not pay to have an alignment and I asked them politely to pull my truck off the rack and allow me to leave. I had to bite my tongue in an effort to be civil because I was shocked and angry at there efforts. read more

I set up an appt to have 4 new tires put on my SUV, via online to the Pep Boys shop on Whitlock. I called that same day to confirm they saw my appt on the calendar and to make sure they had the tires there (online showed them available there). It was confirmed and the rep said he was going to pull the tires and put them up front so that they wouldn't be taken over the weekend. On Monday, my appt was at 10am. I called at 9am to confirm that they were running on time and that everything was ready for me. He confirmed they were running on time and would call me back if there were issues with the tires. He was checking then. I never got a call back so I showed up at 10am for my appt to learn that the tires were not there and that they would be getting them from another store. I was supposed to wait for my vehicle to be serviced so they gave me a Lyft ride home since the service would be delayed until 12pm when the tires would be there. The tires didn't show up until after 3pm. They had to go to 2 different shops for the tires apparently. I wasn't able to finally pick up my tires and check out until 5:30pm. I won't be using Pep Boys for tires in the future. The shop needs to get organized and have what they need on hand for any appts that are made ahead of time. I was able to get a discount but my whole day was wasted. read more

Especially Paul (whom I think is the manager of the store) is extremely reliable and helpful. Frankie is another mechanic I met that helped me out a lot . This place is a rip off, we in to get rotors resurfaced, the tech stated that they where to close to min spec and began quoting me rotors prices. Knowing that I have never had them resurfaced and less than 60000 miles in my car. So knowing that I went to the pepboys on powder springs and guess what the rotors were fine, they did a great job and HONEST, not like this place!!! And this place deleted my last review! read more

Right off the bat, I want to say THANK YOU so much to Paul Dillard and Jimmy Tate for taking care of my vehicle before sending my husband and I on our way towards a 12 hour long trip to Chicago for Thanksgiving. Having a car in safe, working order is definitely something we needed for the icy roads and snowy weather. While this location is a -bit- out of the way from home, I would certainly come here again and again, especially after how well they took care of us. They certainly know what they are doing, going an extra mile to make sure we are safe on the road and comfortable while waiting in the shop. 11/26/14- I had come in to get the fluids in my car topped off and coolant flushed, as well as have them look at my "new" brakes as they had been squeaking for over a month by this point. Something wasn't right. It turns out that they noticed that the previous mechanic that had looked at my vehicle had replaced the brake pads, but they noted layers upon layers of rust upon the rotors (very well over a month's amount), and to add insult to injury noted that the bolts were not even remotely securely fastened, with them only HALF on. I had been charged for rotors that were never touched. Thankfully Paul and Jimmy resurfaced the rotors for me, free of charge, and made sure everything was securely fastened. The folks at this location took care of the other location's shortcomings free of charge, explained everything in an easy to understand way and really went above and beyond with customer assistance. read more

I brought my van to get two new tires. I was given such great customer service! One of the bolts broke because the place that put on my tires previously put it on too tight. The replacement part was originally pretty expensive & Frankie bumped it down to a FAIR price. He also gave me a coupon to knock some more off my total. I brought back my van a couple days later for an oil change. Overall, I left both times very satisfied. Nice people & most of all FAIR!!Go to this location. You wont regret it. read more

Great service! Freddie knew my name as I walked in the door. My tire was losing air and I came in to have it patched. Within 5 minutes (I picked up my dry cleaning while I waited), he showed me 3 nails in my tires. Luckily, only one had punctured through. He patched the tire and didn't charge me for the service. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I will definitely be back - thank you!!! read more
