I come here for my monthly maintenance through Donlen with my Hertz rental car. This is the second time they didn't top my coolant off even though there isn't ANY coolant and it's part of the service rendered. I called Donlen twice and they reassured me Pep Boys could write a separate ticket for the coolant even after they forgot to do it and they still denied this was possible so I had to buy my own coolant. Nice guys but bad customer service. read more

Where to begin? Pricing... rotors and brakes $900... really? How about possibly dying because they didn't do it right. How much is your life worth? Apparently only the cost of labor. I've had good experiences with other Pep Boys stores in the past but this one is just bad. I came in to get a TPMS sensor replaced because the light went on but the associate at the service desk was giving me a hard time. He was telling me I should just wait until they all need to be replaced. Finally, he got out his equipment and found out which sensor was low then wrote my car up. After waiting for hours, I was told the sensor was replaced but they couldn't get the warning light to go off. I responded that this has happened before and they need to reset the whole computer. They refused and told me the light will go off after driving on it for a while. Well, the light never went off. I came back a half week later and they said they'd try again. I repeated that the whole computer needs to be reset. They said they couldn't do that because their lead mechanic was out and they couldn't turn their computer on. So I came back when the lead mechanic returned. But the service associate still wouldn't reset the computer. He said it's because they used an aftermarket part and they're going to order one from the dealer and they'd call me when it's in. It's been over a week later and I still haven't heard anything. read more

Made an appointment on Sunday. After reading poor reviews about their appointment services I called them to make sure a technician would be on site to perform an alignment. They said nobody would be there and scheduled me for another day and time. Got there in time to be told I would have a two hour wait before they can get to me. Then another hour to perform the alignment. Ummm, no thank you!!! I was somewhat prepared for their "our mechanic called in sick today" based on other reviews. And that's the story I received too. I left work early, drove 20 minutes and wasted my time. No apologies, pure rudeness and ignored me after telling me the news. I left and went to SOS tires 5 minutes away, they stayed late and gave me an alignment. Good things come from terrible experience. I'll never call Pep Boys again but will definitely go to a local, caring and honest shop! SOS Tires saved me! Shame on Pep Boys for treating customers like they don't matter! Why schedule if you ALWAYS have a short staff? It's the norm if you read other posts. Same excuse.....save your valuable time and visit a non-franchised local small business. read more

What ABSOLUTE CROOKS! I went In to take advantage of a free break check before our big move and ended up in tears! These cures told me that not only would it be nearly $700 for them to do my breaks,routers,and barring but I ended my entire-front suspension done! I found this particularly odd because I had just had the rack and pinion and tie rods done but these were the items they claimed were "completely shot" I left sobbing because how was I going to take care of all this before my move! I went to see my trusted mechanic only to find that the mechanics at Pep boys tried to play me like a fool! (Turns out they hear this a lot from people who go to this Pepboys) My car needs the oil leek fixed and maybe new axils. . . I will NEVER come here again and I advise against anyone letting these vultures work on your car. On top of all this they didn't even rotate my tires like I asked them to. With all the stress of this move/work/finals/kids I have half a mind to sue them for emotional distress! read more

Well I don't write many reviews but I had to for this one . Well first off all first impression is the worst and I've never had issues at this store . For some odd reason whenever I would place an order online it never seems to go through and I call the store after weeks and always tell me it's not in the system after I get an email for my order being submitted . So I walk in and immediately Vic at the register just has his eye balls glued to me as he is assisting another customer. I really felt as if he was watching me if I were to steal anything . So I comment to him about the whole online order issues I've had in the past and it has not been once it has been atleast 3 times it has happened to me . So I feel as if he's being a smart ass with me and I don't really have much time to waste so I went ahead and purchased the items in store . I like placing the online order because they give you 20% off. Last time I ordered a cherry picker online and stated that to the cashier and no questions asked gave me the 20 percent off without the email . Crappy customer service and this is the last straw for me it really made me mad . Even after I finished paying no " thank you sir" or " have a good day". I called yesterday and was quoted $432.93 for four new Kumho tires with 40k mile warrant. This price included tax, mounting, wheel balance, rotations every six months and alignment. I asked if they had something a little better. Same brand tires with a 75k mile warranty including everything I mentioned above. Came in today. Waited an hour before they can look at it to tell me I need just two tires with 40k mile warranty, not including alignment, tax and they added road hazard on the bill without asking me. It came up to $420.99. I informed the rep of the prices I was quoted and he said 4 tires with everything would be close to $600 because they didn't add tax or road hazard or alignment. Clearly they give you BS prices to nab you for more money when you come in. The tires were actually cheaper at the dealership. read more

Today my cousin and I had an appointment at 1:00pm and 2:00pm to get our AC system check. The assistant manager basically told us he can't see our cars today and he will have to keep it over night. Now, here's my problem we had back to back appointments. The assistant manager said it will take about 45minutes to an hour for each car. Which wasn't a problem. What the problem was he couldn't explain why the cars couldn't be seen. When he just said it will only take about an hour. So obviously he had enough time to get each car done. Not to mention, when I arrived there were only 2 cars there and all the workers were sitting underneath the shade not even working. So we end up leaving unsatisfied because the assistant manager didn't want to put his workers to work nor keep true to appointment book. All in all DONT MAKE APPOINTMENTS ONLINE WITH PEP BOYS. I paid $527 for a clutch job on a '97' Nissan sentra last month and have had to return the car at least 5 times, since then to have them make repairs again. I still have to muscle it into first and second gear. A few times i have had to turn the car off in order to get it into reverse and then start it up. They can't seem to find what is wrong with the car. Another problem, is that when your car is done they do not call you. When you call, you are placed on hold, always. I just spent 12 minutes waiting on the phone for an update. The first time i called, they put me on hold and hang up on me, i called back and had to wait 12 Min's. I hung up and called back and again, had to wait for an answer. I will no longer let these people change my oil, much less make repairs on my car... read more

I go in for a headlight and rear turn signal. I can't get the bulb I want because they are out. So I'm Forced to buy a $50 light and a $6 blinker bulb. It's late and I really didn't want to mess with the car all night because I haven't had to change the lights on my car. So I inquired about how to change the bulbs or what would be the cost to install them. James the Manager looked it up and told me after he totaled everything up it would be $70! To install. REALLY! He had 2 guys standing there doing nothing willing to help but was told that he would have to charge me even just to help. I bought the lights but I won't come back. Thanks for making it easy James! The only reason that I have continued to go here for so long was because I had a Rewards Card and I thought "Whatever, I'll deal with their incompetence so that I can get a couple bucks here and there," but this is the last straw. I just bought a battery, and was assured that it was the correct match for my vehicle. Upon installing, the battery works perfectly, except it is so tall that my hood literally will not close. Thanks Pep Boys. There is absolutely nothing that you can do well, and you have FINALLY succeeded in losing me as a repeat customer. Worst service and parts experience I have ever had at a PepBoys. Been going to them for years and never had a problem apparently they refuse to honor appointments citing that they are just overbooked and can't take any more customers. I went in to get the fluid at the transmission fluid to do it myself and then they had the wrong pricing on the shelf and the counter person insisted that is was the higher one even though there was a sticker right next to it with the lower one. When she realized it was the lower price she has a super attitude problem. I asked how to bring in the used transmission fluid and they said I had to figure it out on my own. They only take motor oil?????????? My family friends and co-workers will be warned to stay away. Sorry PepBoys I love you just not this store! read more

DO NOT COME HERE. I went in for a wheel alignment and after 10 minutes with my car, their mechanic came out saying I need to replace 3 out of 4 wheel bearings and that my struts were shot and leaking fluid. Total bill was over $1300 and they asked if I wanted to have it worked on right then and there. I took my car to get a second opinion and it turns out my struts were perfectly fine but I did need to replace 2 of my bearings soon. What Pep Boys' mechanics made seem like a big deal was in fact not and instead of paying $1300, I only needed to pay $300. You know how people say Pep Boys is a ripoff and try to take your money? Well it's true, avoid them at all cost. read more

Ridiculous... Apparently my English could not be understood. I went in to have the wiper motor on my truck replaced. I could have done it, I was being lazy and thought "what the heck?". The lady at the service desk has to be told twice what I wanted, then a guy (James) came up and said "What does he want?" like I was intruding on their day. The girl told him, and he said "We don't have anyone that can do that today." So I had to inquire: "You don't have someone who can take 6 screws out of the cowl panel, remove it, remove two screws attaching the arms, and 3 bolts to remove the motor, then put it back together?" He says with a scowl "Just give him a price." I said, "No, that's alright I will just go buy the part and do it myself." So I walk to the back, and the guy is laying his body on the standing computer desk facing the back of the store. I asked him if he was on break and he told me no, but didn't bother to even stand up or turn to face me, just turned his head. I told him I needed a wiper motor for my vehicle, and gave him the yr, make, model and engine. He then asked me for the year, then make, then model ,and finally, yes the engine. I had to tell him 3 times.... there were only 3 selections on the screen!!! Finally I gave up, told him to go back to sleep and walked out. I went right down the street to O'Reilly Auto Parts, the person (Henry) was kind, helpful, polite, energetic, and I was out in less than 5 mins with the wiper pulse board for $30. Got home, and in 15 mins had the circuit board replaced and wipers working great. I will never step foot in that Pep Boys again. read more

I came back to this store and the manger was not only rude, but extremely unhelpful. He tells me i will look at my car for free. Well 5hats to be expected my breaks are 4 months old. They had shocks for my SUV (early 99 Pathfinder) in stock when no other store in the area had them. I had the Monroe Sensatracs with lifetime warranty installed (1 pair) for $110 including tax because of a generous active duty military discount. Some Pep Boys locations only offer military discounts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but they gave it to me on a Friday. Bravo! Choose your battles, for a simple "remove and replace" I would recommend this place. For a clutch, tuning, transmission work, etc, go somewhere that specializes in your type of vehicle or that part of the car. Service was courteous, having the department of defense sticker probably had something to do with that. It was a little bit on the slow side, there were only 2 cars in the entire bay and it was a good half an hour from when I saw the guy put his tools away to when I got called saying that my car was done. read more

Worst customer service experience I have had in years. I set an appointment for a basic diagnostic and when I arrived they said they didn't have a mechanic ready and it would be "a few minutes" for they took my car. 45 minutes later they had not even started. The car was just sitting there! Then the assistant manager tells me that the wait could be 2 to 3 hours before they start working on my car, even with an appointment. What is the point of taking an appointment?!?!?! At least the assistant manager was polite. The head mechanic was extremely rude to me the entire time, right from the moment I dropped off the car. He acted like a total jerk. It's reasonable to assume that if I set an appointment there would not be a 2 to 3 hour wait. The head mechanic did not once apologize or acknowledge that the situation was screwy. His name is Mike. I would never recommend going here, but if you do, I suggest avoiding Mike. Then, to make matters worse, I had to buy an antenna. I specifically asked the guy at the counter if the antenna I was buying would match my car and he said "yes". Of course, be in time it did not match my car and I had to return it. How are these people in business? read more

Very slow and unprofessional. I came for an oil change early Saturday morning at 9am. Did not receive any calls of car being kept on overnight. I called Sunday and was told it would get done but no timeline. Tires were NOT rotated as printed on receipt and service desk took 20 mins to find keys and check out vehicle. I don't usually go here but it was closer to home so I figured I give it a shot. Employees look miserable and lack confidence and eagerness to help costumers. Stopped in to see why our tire was leaking air. Long story short pep boys told us there was a hole in the inside side wall of the tire and we needed a new tire. We didn't want to purchase a new tire and also we're pretty sure he wasn't telling the truth so we looked up used shops and found Tony's Tires. They guys there looked at the tire and saw that there in fact NO HOLE on the inside of the side wall but there was a nail in the tread. They fixed the problem for $10 and PEP BOYS was going to charge us $278.41 for a new tire when we didn't even need a tire... DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND UNNECESSARY MONEY! read more

No point in making an appointment either since he doesn't check the computer and when he does he tells you to come back later. Let me begin by saying that I am very mechanically apt and nearly always do all of my own work. I had just purchased a new car , and noticed that the front left headlight had gone out. Scheduled an appointment here the next day as I did not have time to do it myself . Labor charge was expensive ($56) , but it was what it is, I knew it would be something absurd due to the vehicle being german. I saw my car get pulled into the bay, and 3 separate techs with confused looks on their face. After about 10 minutes of them staring at the vehicle with flashlights, they came out and told me that the retainer clip that holds the bulb in place was missing and I needed to take the car back to where I purchased it. I called the dealership and bitched a bit and set a day for that to happen. I got home, looked in the headlight housing myself , and then pulled up the Audi parts schematic , as well as a video on YouTube. There were no parts missing. The techs quite literally did not know how to install a xenon bulb that they stock. It was as simple as pushing the bulb in and rotating to lock it. Did it myself in about 30 seconds the next morning. If the techs at this location can't even understand a simple bulb install and how a xenon bulb installs , I would NOT trust them with anything bigger . read more

I pulled in the bay and noticed two guys horse playing. Finally I got someone attention... you have to park in the front and go to the front desk... okay... front desk... you have to go back to tires. Before I even get there Jared yells "I can't take any more walk ins" and I tell him I just have a nail in my tire... He says he doesn't care ... WTF I said I'm willing to wait, I have a 2 hour drive through the desert to get home ... can u just squeeze me in, it's really an emergency. NOPE! I ask is there another tire store around as I'm unfamiliar w the area... he says NO. The girl at the other desk says American Tire around the corner... I thanked her. I must say that all the Pepboys I have been to have provided great work coupled with great service. They are certainly changing my perception of them. I always thought they were shade tree mechanics, but that is not the case at all. If it wasting for my need to service my work vehicle I would have never known. I have always used Pepboys for parts, but never for service. Since I do most of the work on my personal vehicles myself. They will certainly be an option if I am crunched for time and need work don on my personal vehicles. I guess the on complaint I have is that at time the service time seems excessive. read more
