Ok the over all service was great. I waited about an hour. Larry did my oil change and Moi checked me in. Easy and straight forward. The reason j took a star is there is no AC, no fans, no moving air whatsoever in this building or waiting room the "complimentary self serve waiting area was empty nothing available as well as you are in a literally fish bowl with no water it had to have been over 100 inside then outside. I'm glad I brought my own water and AirPods to try and distract myself. I recommend if you wanna wait for your car to bring cooling stuff or your own refreshments it's going to be hot inside that stuffy building. read more

I recently got my oil changed, and although I was quoted $150, they charged me $30 more. When I left, I realized that my steering wheel was shaking when I reached 50mph. It wasn't like that before, and I honestly would rather not take it back to avoid the trouble of them denying this. I wish all I received an oil change and not more problems. read more

Left work on a Friday early with permission of my boss to get an oil change on my company truck. Arrived at the Lancaster , CA Pep boys at 3:25pm . One of the 3 guys sitting in front of their monitor 2 with mechanic gear on told me I would be seen around 5:15 . Stated that they only had 1 guy in the back and that he had 4 tires to change. I asked it takes 2 hours to change 4 tires and you only have 1 guy in the back ? So I sat down , thought to myself after hearing these 3 guys just bs ing the whole time. Got up after 10 min and asked : so none of you 3 know how to change oil or can help the poor guy that it takes him almost 2 hours to change 4 tires ? 2 of them replied Nope . So I walked out. Will NEVER step foot into a Pep boys again. Can't stand LAZY , poor customer service and clearly a place that hires worthless mechanics that #1 cant go to the back and help change tires or know how to change oil. I didnt see 1 soul walk in the whole time I was there for them to say they were busy. 1 star and thats only because 0 is not an option. Dont go to this place ! I'm not sure who it was but the gentleman I spoke to on the phone was very rude when I had asked what kind of ASE certifications I would need to get a job there and the gentleman was repeatedly loudly screaming "A S E" and not answering my question after asking him 3 times. I don't get what he was so mad about ? (I called around 2:31pm) I just wanted to see what it takes to work there. I'm a student going to Universal technical institute and I was just calling around asking for employment opportunities but buddy decided to give me an attitude that wasn't appropriate. Horrible experience overcharged for parts not necessary. Charged over $1000 for just the rear brakes. When I left my rear passenger brakes were smoking because they did not properly inspect or test drive the vehicle upon completion. Then to top it off my vehicle was left unlocked also. Totally unprofessional and I will never go to this Pep Boys to service anything. My brakes are still not right but I refuse to go back there ever again. I am actually filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Avoid their service center at all costs! read more

This review was what I experienced. I drove here because I needed new wheels to be balanced on my wife's car. I noticed that all the 4 post lifts had cars on them and there were all off the ground, but no one was working on any of them but I assumed any away that they were gonna be busy . No worries I'll just come back if that's the case. When I walked into the business it was empty , there way 2 service technicians sitting down just chatting with each other. I was not greeted, I broke the awkward silence and said "good morning , how you guys doing ? I was wondering if you guys have some time to do all 4 wheel balance on my car since they are new wheels? " The "technician" if he really is one , replies.. " wheel balance?" And looks confused as he looks around the shop. Then looks at the other " tech " confused. I went in to get back brakes and rotors. Work was completed but the brakes were still squeaking. I took it back to pepboys and was told there was no issue and I just needed to drive the care some more. After 3 more weeks the brakes are tell squeaking. I took it back a third time, same answer nothing is wrong. Well finally took it to the dealer and was informed brakes were not installed correctly and because of this I need new rotors, pads and now calibers $1800. When I just spent $700 four weeks prior at pepboys for brake pads and rotors. This pepboys refused to fix or address the problem after multiple attempts. Go someplace else please. read more

My diesel truck was out of DEF in what was a VERY busy day. I ran into Auto Zone on Avenue I in Lancaster. I covered my nose and mouth with my T-shirt. I grabbed a box of Def and a heavy set man behind the counter sitting on a stool yelled at me that I needed a mask. I told him that if he checked our City of Lancaster website the requirements even say "a T-shirt will work". He said no it won't. I started to walk to the counter and he yelled at me in front of other customers that he would not help me. I told him I have cash to pay and he told me he would not sell to me. I left the store. I went to Pep Boys and found the Def and grabbed two boxes (it was on sale). While I paid Beto insisted on carrying my DEF out to my truck. WAY TO GO PEP BOYS!! Beto is a keeper!! Excellent customer service. You have earned mine and my businesses service for life!!! I get that people are scared of the Covid19 but bad customer service is bad customer service. Had my oil checked in the beginning of August before I drove to and back Las Vegas (it is now late August and drove out to Vegas twice since I plan on moving out there). Typically when I get my oil changed, my fluids are checked for me (and understand that is part of the service) but this facility in Lancaster, Ca did not and I only found out when I noticed I had no windshield fluid when I tried to use it, upon further inspection, my coolant container appeared empty as well. You would think that in a town known for its hot temperatures, that they would be more mindful of that. I'm very disappointed in this Pep Boys and after years of taking my car to a Pep Boys for my needs, I will no longer use them. I'd rather say my car engine (and the heartache of been stranded somewhere in the road) than a few bucks! read more

I called in to request an appointment to have the oil pressure sensor replaced. They placed me on hold as the person mentioned that he didn't know what the service cost was. He gathered all information including the year of vehicle and so on. I waited on hold for about 10 minutes and when he responded, he said the cost was $119 plus parts. Scheduled the appointment and took the car in. They had the car for an hour and I get a call back saying that the cost was $750. Technician said that the car was modified and he couldn't get to the part, which the car is not modified. I'm the original owner and have never had any work done other than installing 20" inch wheels. Technician either didn't know how to do the job, was feeling lazy or??? By the way, technician said that it was labor intensive and that the car had to be raised to remove the manifold as well as gas lines under the vehicle. Took the place elsewhere and they charged $250 and took less than an hour to do it. They removed the part through the engine bay and the technician never went under the car. I recommend that people check other shops before going here. read more

I just noticed all the bad reviews and was reminded of the piss poor job they did on my vehicle back in 2006. I had an alarm system that kept re-arming itself and setting off for no reason. I took it into Pepe Boys simply to get an electrical diagnostic done, and instead of fixing the problem, they unwired my entire alarm system, removed from my SUV, and ....... wait for it............they stole it. That's f' ing right. They stole my alarms system. At first they told me the mechanic that worked on it threw it in the trash, but they didn't expect for me to dumpster dive, but I did. I literally climb inside the 200 gallon bin and went through every single piece of trash to find my alarm system and it was not there. When I told management what happened, they didn't even give a f'. Nor offer to replace my alarm system. I can't recall if they still charged me for the diagnostic or not. All I know is that it has been over 15 years since I have shopped at this place, and I never will again. Almost every person working their is rude. It's like some kind of cult. I really don't understand how they are even still in business. It's probably the retail side that is keeping it a float. Who knows? read more

As I stood there waiting, I could see the employee was on a personal phone call on a company phone. He knew I was there, but avoided eye contact. No acknowledgment of my presence was shown. He bellowed for his coworker to come out of the back room. When employee number two came out, the first guy hung up the phone as I advised #2 I had an 8:30 appointment. Number 1, mumbles, very quietly, that it's going to be at least 1 1/2 hours before they can get to my car. They don't care if you set an appointment. They WON'T honor it! Adios, Pep Boys. My wife needed her windshield wipers replaced. She called the store and told him what she needed was told that they had them and if she came in in the next several minutes, they could take care of her right away. There was good as their word she went to the store purchased the wipers they were installed right away, and she's back on the road. She said everyone there was quite friendly. I just had a GREAT experience at the Pep Boys in Lancaster. The shop was clean and very professional with outstanding and respectful staff. I was stranded 400 miles from home in the middle of a Sunday in need of new tires. They couldn't get tires to fit my car for a few days - but Cleveland at the front desk came up with a brilliant solution to get me the right tires at the location where they could be installed - SAME DAY!. His positive attitude and can-do spirit saved me several hundred dollars in hotel bills and got me home that night. I went there to get four brand new tire and the sales guys Ralf Randal what ever his name is tried to sell me a used tire & I was shocked the tire looked used and it had a sold sign on the side of the tire. Then he had the audacity to tell me he doesn't need my business. After I told him that I will wait to get my tires installed when he orders the new tires That I'm buying. His statement was I have to sell these tires first before I can order new ones. Mind you the tire was already last year brand. If a customer is coming in to buy 4 brand new tires shouldn't they get what they are paying for. Not what you want to give them. Hell no I will not even reconnect pep boy to anyone. No thanks. After that I went to americas tire. Larry ordered me 4 brand new tire the next day he had it installed. Great price, excellent service and I didn't event wait long. Pretty bad when it takes over a day to change the oil, repair a flat, and check the other tires for road hazards so they can be fixed if necessary. Just have to figure that they don't want business. Edit: So it turns out that even though I specifically stated that I only wanted a flat repaired and the other tires checked for road hazards, Pep Boys took it upon themselves to request for fleet services to replace all 5 tires (even though they didn't need it). I went to a different vendor today and they had fixed the flat as well as removed all of the other road hazards from my tires in less than an hour. They also provided a ride back to my office as well as dropped off my van when the service was completed. If Pep Boys hadn't gotten greedy, they would have retained my business (as well as the 6 other techs that live in this area). read more

12/30/2018- very positive experience with Janie in Parts Dept. Fast prompt service. Prior to arriving I spoke with Janie over the phone, and she went back and pulled the parts to ensure inventory was available (computer showed 1/ea). When I got there she had the parts at the counter, a positive attitude, and made sure I had everything I needed. PepBoys surpringly had the struts I needed (everyone else in town needed a day for special order) and Janie made the rest happen. read more

I needed an oil change and noticed my car was slowing up when I turned it on. I took it in to PepBoys and did the $15 checkup with the oil change. I brought up the coupons and he said at check out. I asked if I needed them printed out and he said no. When they spoke to me over the phone, the service did not tell me what was wrong with the car other than it needed a new battery. When I brought up the coupons which the only reason why I took it in, he simply said to do it at checkout. It was two, A 20% oil change and 25% off a new battery. I go in, he says he already applied the 20% off and the 25% off is through online only. I had mentioned it twice prior and he said he can't honor it because a 3rd party applies to their site. He said the best he can do is 10% for the inconvenience. I get it, it's my fault for not reading the fine print. It's just disappointing the employee didn't mention that twice that I brought it up and when we get to check out, remembers the process. I also noticed on the invoice and additional fee towards the battery as an extended warranty. I wanted to decline it but he said he would have to remove the whole battery as it's used "towards the paste of the batter to ensure it lasts longer" he sounded like he was making it up because he literally ended that sentence with whatever. The worst part of it all is that he said my car needed a new alternator and said I have a day with my new battery. He forgot to give me my check up paperwork which they apologized for and said my alternator is busted. I was quoted about $700 to fixed it. I called out of to work to take it to the dealership where the service manager said the car is in working order and provided a lot more paperwork indicating the alternator is fine. The only reason why I'm not giving this place a 1 star is because I should of known better. The guy helping me was not rude but him and another employee gave me wrong information. I would double check the work if you check this place out. I'm sure this was a fluke but I'm just happy my car is up and running. Getting crank shaft repaired parts order 03/25/21 in cali and it arrived in ohio how is that possible , i was not called or told till i got there 3/26/21 for my service at 9am i was informed at 11am whiles still waiting. If I could add zero stars i would ***DO NOT COME HERE FOR MAINTENANCE ON YOUR CAR***They take forever and one gentleman that works in the service department with tattoos is rude and is not professional and organized he tells me tht my car will be done in a hr and half so I show up and he gives me a made up story and did not even do my car. If I could give a zero I would. I put my Jaguar in to be checked over as they were a few problems. They came back with $1175 to fix my car told me it was the gasket amongst a couple of other small things. I decided to take my car to Jaguar dealership in the valley on Roscoe and the diagnostic gave me something completely different and they say there is nothing wrong with my gasket and that I actually have a radiator problem. Pep Boys didn't say anything about my radiator or that the light for my coolant was on and low!!! Don't take your car here for repairs. These people are lying to you to get your money. This place was horrible. I scheduled an appointment for 11am. Showed up 15 minutes early for my tire services. Mario checked me in and took my keys to get info from my car. Mario left my car running for about 40 minutes until I went to my car myself and turned it off. I then let them know. At around 11:50 they finally took my car but to only tell me 5 minutes later they wouldn't be able to fix my tire. I really don't believe that but whatever. I should have left the store then but I was in a bind and needed this address ASAP. So they proceeded to sale me a tire. Pep boys itself doesn't have a good deal on tires and totally tries to up sale you. I wouldn't recommend this location or pep boys for tires. Definitely go somewhere else. read more
