I brought my vehicle to Pep Boys for a tire rotation since I purchased my tires there. I was told I would receive an emailed receipt, but it was never sent. More concerning, during the tire rotation my center cap was broken. I immediately brought it to the attention of the employee who performed the service, and instead of taking responsibility, he tried to argue with me. I then spoke with a supervisor/manager, who acknowledged the issue and promised they would make it right by replacing the center cap. It has now been exactly one month, and I have heard nothing--no follow-up, no replacement, and no resolution. This experience shows a lack of accountability and poor customer service. I expected better communication and professionalism, especially for damage caused during routine service. I would appreciate someone from Pep Boys corporate reaching out to resolve this matter. read more

Beyond disappointed with these idiots. Our car was towed in for a cooling system issue. We told them that. They were more concerned about the low level of Gas and failed to diagnose a faulty water pump. Instead they tried to tell my wife the tires were Dry-rotted and the heating pump was bad. Neither were true. Had it taken somewhere else, less than fifteen minutes we had the correct issues highlighted. Common sense is a super power I guess. read more

Had my oil changed there. I was driving to Southside al from Decatur al half way there my check engine light came on. When I got back I went to Pep Boys and the ran the code and it came with a problem with an exhaust valve and they don't do repairs on that problem. So I took it Layton Ford. They told me that there was nothing wrong, pep boy put an extra quart of oil and once the drained the oil and replaced it with the correct amount, I have not have had any issues. I will not be using Pep Boy in the future. Since they cannot do a simple job in changing a cars oil. read more

Over priced , felt like I didn't get what I paid for. I will definitely not go there again. I thought I was getting front and rear brakes for the price given which would have been a good deal. The inspection they did said needed back brakes and rotors and the front rotors were warped .the price they gave me was $710. I thought I was getting both. I was quoted $800 for front and rear at my usual mechanic, He couldn't get to it until Monday. Lesson learned I will wait next time. read more

After several attempts to reach the Pep Boys in Decatur,Alabama on Monday June 10th to schedule an oil change, the earliest appointment was scheduled for Thursday June 13th at 4:00 p.m. Brought car in at scheduled time and was told by associate that he was the only employee working and there might be a delay. As I waited the phone continously rang and that one employee(Ethan) had to turn customers away. My car did have the oil changed and the tires rotated. I left feeling confident that my vehicle was properly tree taken care of. NO IT WAS NOT!! I drove my car on Saturday morning and went a short piece and the engine started making noises and the engine light and oil light came on. Oil had sprayed onto the backside and underside of car and all the oil had emptied. Was the drain plug tightened after maintenance? I tried to call the store to report the issue and failed to have anyone answer, so I was taken to the store to speak to someone in person. A fill in Manager(Andrew) for the store advised me to have the car towed to the Decatur store for them to check it. A towing service came to my home to pick up the vehicle. Again I tried to contact the store to let them know the car was on its way. No answer. The towing service called and let me know the store had closed early. What is going on at this location? I have never had this problem before and I have used this location for many years for new tires and repairs. I just hope and pray that there will be no issues with the repair of my vehicle. B. These people are rude ! They do not acknowledge you when you walk in store. They will continue what they are doing. When they do decide to wait on you, they are not friendly. We spent a good bit of money here. It used to be the more you spend, the better the service. That is clearly not Pepboys stance on it. Oh no. First they "acted" like they were giving us all kinds of "discounts" but then they snuck in all kinds of add ons, for example, there was a $9.99 charge for gumout fuel cleaner. We never approved such a charge nor why would we? You can buy that stuff at any parts store for 2 or 3 bucks. Which it might be worth, if it worked, which it doesn't. There where several 10-40 dollar "add-ons" that we neither approved nor understood. Also, people used to have the decency to look you in the eye and smile while they conned all of your money out of you. But one mechanic was so rude and the spoke to me like I was a child? Wth Pepboys? I recommend taking you money ANYWHERE else. read more

We were forced to come here while on vacation. We had gotten a rental car while visiting family and on the drive, the air pressure light came on several times and we noticed the the valve covers were missing on two of the tires. The rental company apparently does their business with them and we were told to take the car there to get it looked at. It was our last day in town and thought it would be a quick fix, but we ended up stuck there for 2 hours!! So much for spending extra time with our family. We checking with the desk a couple of times to see what our wait would be, but never got a definitive answer. The whole situation was just very frustrating. Had we known the wait was gonna be that long, we would have just skipped it all together. Will never be back. read more

I took my truck to them so they could remove a stripped spark plug, they claimed to have worked on it for two hours, and told me I needed to replace my head or possibly the whole motor (a 2000-5000 dollar job) and charged me a "diagnostic" fee. For $38 I was able to buy the tool I needed and get it out myself in about 10-15 minutes. When I called and asked for a refund for their attempt to upcharge me for work I didn't need, I was told they could have charged me more since they "worked" on it for hours. Everyone I've talked has had similar experiences. Instead of just fixing the problem, they just want to sell you something you don't need. Also, wouldn't have given the one star, but I had to for this review. read more

I went to the Decatur Alabama store to get some work done and I will tell you what, the guy Donnie at the front was rude and because I am a female talked to me like I didn't know anything. I can not accept that because I am female and maybe they should have a female or two to work there instead of all males. They are rude and not professional at this location. The service is incredible. We were travelling from ontario to Orange Beach Alabama for a work seminar. We ran into an issue with a bad tire. We pulled in and were told it would be anout a 2 hour wait as they had other vehicles ahead of us. It was a sunday so they were not fully staffed. We totally understood and asked them to replace all 4 tires so we would not have any further issues. Without us asking they bumped our van to the front of the lineup and before we knew if we were all set and ready to continue our trip. Car broke down 3 days and everyday they promised they would fix it that day. They are inexperienced and never got my car working. We spent money on hotel rooms and now a uhaul to have it moved along with my wife back home. The car left in worse condition then when the tow truck dropped it off. Great service. Two weeks ago I went in to get air in my tires 5minutes before closing. The tech was concerned that one tire was so low he had me stay until he fully inspected the tire and found the slow leak by a hidden screw. The next day I went in to have the leak fixed, but the tech that day couldn't find it after taking out a screw. Two weeks later, that same tire was flat in my driveway. I had my insurance change the tire, and took my car back to pep boys to resolve the leaky/not leaky/now flat tire problem. They found ANOTHER nail, and fixed the tire for no charge. Three visits, excellent service, and they took care of me for free. (A huge help and blessing at this time). While in the waiting room, on all three visits, there were plenty of other happy and repeat customers. This location deserves 5 stars. Hope more people will take the time to share their positive experiences. These boys deserve the kudos. read more

I wouldn't recommend this location even though they seem to get plenty of business which made me think they provided great service... I took my car in for an oil change and requested they check all the fluids in my car since I had just drove across country I was concerned they would be low. They told me they would check the fluids and when I got home came to find they did not check them or bother to tell me they were extremely low. I'm not satisfied with the services in fact I'm very disappointed and won't be a returning customer. read more

I took my wife's car to this location for tire installation (mount and balance) on the front end and a four wheel alignment.. Three months later during a routine tire rotation I discovered that the rear tires were worn through on the inside edge to the fibers and in danger of rupture. These were older tires and at the end of the tread life, but I rotate my tires and inspect my vehicles regularly enough to know that the uneven wear on the tires was not there before. To put it another way, the "alignment" they did put the rear end out of alignment. I returned to pep boys with two new tires for the rear end and to explain the problem. They explained that they got a new machine for doing alignments and that the old one wasn't so good. It was a weak apology. They mounted and balanced my tires and realigned the car. I was charged for the mount and balance only. I can't recommend further service at this location. Knowingly aligning a vehicle poorly could have been catastrophic if those tires had blown out at highway speeds from the uneven wear. The seriousness of the situation was lost on the service manager, and the attempt to make amends for their mistake was cursory at best. read more
