While visiting Baton Rouge on Christmas Eve I unfortunately had a mishap with a roadside curb resulting in 2 flat tires and a tow to the shop after hours. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved to hear from Mr.Benny the day after Christmas that the problem was being addressed. He informed me of the price of the tires and that an alignment was also needed. He was both professional and reassuring that the job would be finished soon. When I arrived, my car was parked in the front of the store ready to go. Mr. Kollen was there to check me out efficiently and advised me that I should have no problems getting home. I don't like giving one star, and I know I will likely receive a response from the Business Manager with an email address and all, and I may respond to that, but I am simply not a fan of this location. This is an Autozone/PepBoys combo, and since they added the wall up, I can stay, the store is a lot cleaner than it used to be, and things are a lot easier to find. However, I value my time, I think everyone should, but things at this location are done at a snail's pace. I ran into the store last week and after some looking, grabbed what I needed and went to the register. The clerk was walking away to help someone and said he would return. He was the only person I saw in the store, so I don't know if other staff was there or not, or maybe on break. The guy was friendly and seemed like he was handling everything. But the check out experience was longer than it needed to be, and I was there for about 10 minutes. Fast forward to making the return... Again, they seemed to be very short staffed. One employee in the store helping, answering phones, check out, etc. The person who was needed for the return was outside on the phone talking about staff who had worked and who had not.....perhaps a work call while having a smoke maybe, I don't know. But that person was needed, and I expected to wait a couple of minutes. About 10 minutes later, that person walks back in and has about a five minute conversation with a customer leaving the store - casual language so I guess they knew each other. Once they were done, it took a few minutes for the return. But something that should have taken about 4-5 minutes had me in the store for about 20 minutes. I would let that go, but over the years, I have had similar experiences. I think the culmination just was too much and the limit was reached today. Thankfully there isn't much I need from here, so I will stick to the other location I've gone to before or just order online from now on. read more

I took the vehicle in at 8:00 Friday morning, explained that the A/C was leaking, but I couldn't pinpoint where from. They said there was one car in front of me. I checked the texted information around noon, it showed all of the inspections done. It said the schrader valves for the AC were bad. Waited for a call, finally received one at 4:30. He was upset that I had not seen the emailed estimate he sent at 3:15. $500 for the AC, $1200 for new brakes. I said, do the AC, no to the brakes, he made a comment, "I'm going to lose a hundred dollars on this, let me work it up and I'll get back with you. He got back with me on Saturday around 11, said to check my email for the new estimate and that the parts had not come in yet. I looked at the email, now it's $1200 for the AC. I told him to pack it up, I was going to get it done later. Benny is his name. I've been here several times, mostly because it is less than a mile from my house and it's open on weekends. I've spent probably 3-4,000 on my vehicles over the past 6 months and each time it was a shit show. Each time I had already diagnosed it, asked them to fix it, each time they always tried to sell me on other services. I actually had gotten the starter replaced on this vehicle a month earlier, no mention of brakes, but that the belts were cracked, tires were worn out, and suspension was jacked up. This time, inspection said tires, belts, and suspension were fine, just needed the brakes. No consistency. I will probably be getting brakes, they are old, but the fact they thought they were good one month and about to fail a month later, tells me they probably don't have a clue. I will take it to the guy I trust, but it will probably take him a week so I will have to get a rental. When will Pep Boys get some quality control over this shop? Get some honest, good mechanics and a manager that knows how to deal with people, and I will come back. read more

Came in for new tire after blowout. Employees were nice. After about 30 minutes, they took me in to the garage to show me that the object which caused the blowout also ruined the strut and it was leaking. It needed to be replaced at an additional cost of over $1800. I was not prepared to do it right away, so I drove it home and got a second opinion from my dealership. They did a thorough inspection, and assured me they would be happy to do the work, but it was unnecessary since the strut was not damaged at all! read more

I needed a battery, I stopped at the establishment next door to this Pep Boys and they said it was likely an alternator on a 3 year old vehicle. They wouldn't even give me a jump. At that point, I knew it was my battery. I walked into this Pep Boys and Azario professionally greeted me and provided the jump. It only took a moment for Mr. Benny to walk up and say, you need a battery. Come around and I'll change it for you. I was done in 15 minutes and was right back on the road. It was done within minutes and it was great to see that a service oriented auto shop still exists. I had to get an emergency fix on my car for a road trip the next day and they kept working on it past closing time to get it fixed. My husband was headed home and had a light for a tire going low on his truck. Since Pep Boys is close to our home, he tried to call to ask when they close. He called 3 times and after 20+ rings "each time" they would pick up and hang up. He could hear people talking each time. He called me at home and asked if I would try, thinking he was getting disconnected. I tried another 3 times, from a Land Line, and it rang that many times or more only to have someone pick up and hang up. You could hear talking in the back ground. This is terrible. If you don't want customers then close down or if you don't want to work let someone who does, have that job. Really not good business. read more

This was the worst, non-help I've ever received from a vehicle service shop. After getting a diagnostic done, the manager, Benny Warner then presented me with a work order. According to the work order, it would cost me more than $3,000 to get work done on my brakes. He said to me, "you don't have to get it all done right now." However, when I selected what I could afford at the moment, he then said, "If I can't repair what I recommend, I will not touch your vehicle at all." He said, the reason being was my safety, yet, he allowed me to walk out the door with the same issue I came in for. Following that exchange, I asked "If you care about my safety, are you willing to let me walk out without getting anything done, knowing I need three grand of work?" The only response I received was a smirk. So much for caring about safety, right? The mechanic was nice, giving me other options and even allowed me to take pictures of what he told me was wrong in case I chose to get the work done at another shop. Overall, the experience and the customer service was AWFUL! I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I went into Pep Boy's on 7/14/2022 to have a tire repaired (the front driver), I had to purchase a new tire because they told me they could not repair the tire. 3 days later while getting a headlight replaced at Autozone, I noticed the front driver tire was an old tire. When I returned to the store on 7/18/2022 to ask why a new tire was not put on my vehicle (on the front driver) the front manager Michael told me the tire was placed on the rear of my vehicle. Those are new tires and a different brand. He went on to tell me "Whomever put the new tires on the back took the tire they put on." When I asked why the tire was placed on the rear and which rear tire it was on the rear, he told me it was policy. He was not able to show me a policy where it stated they had to place the tire on the rear. We called his area manager (Jeff), who decided to read me a policy when I asked for the policy, he told me he would copy and paste it in an email to me. I told him I wanted to pull it up and read myself he then told to Google where a new tire should be placed on a vehicle. I in return asked him where I could pull up Pep Boy's policy that states a new tire has to be placed on the rear. Jeff started yelling he wasn't going to argue with me, I was not arguing I was simply asking for a policy that should be available for your customers. When I tried to explain that the warranty is print on the receipts why he couldn't give me the policy, he stated their policy is for pep boys only and not the customers. I have been a customer of pep boys for several years and this is the second time I have been treated like this. I will no longer give them my money or service. I had to get all my tires replaced this morning as a result of one of them being flat. I knew it was time for new tires, but just hadn't made the time to stop by. I was helped pretty promptly (I was the only customer just as they opened) and quoted a time of 1-1.5 hours. It took just around that amount of time for them to call and let me know it was ready. Assistant Manager gave great service but when I spoke the the Store Manager he was very rude , I asked him to explain what had to be done to my car and he refused and told me with an attitude that it was not hard to explain , I proceeded to then tell the assist manger about 5 minutes after that I won't be staying because my father wanted to look at my car himself and the Store Manager replied again with a nasty attitude " Alright that's Fine" basically implying he did not want to really fix my car. I was not pleased with the customer service here. We brought my boyfriend's car here for a second opinion on his brakes. The guys at the counter were too busy playing around with each other to take the time to assist us. Finally they decided to address us after awhile of us standing there. We told them we needed to replace the brakes and roters, and they gave us a price without even looking at the car to see what was actually wrong. I just didnt even trust them with the car. Wish I could give a -5 stars for this place. Been going there for years but after the last couple of visits especially the one today NEVER EVER AGAIN! Past couple of visits I had an appointment, was there on time and STILL had to wait about 3 hours for an oil change. Today had a 9:30 appointment. I was there for 9:30 and was told it wouldn't be ready till 1:30. Called at 2:00, 3:00, 3:45 and was told it wasn't ready. ALL I NEEDED WAS AN OIL CHANGE! Last call I was getting very upset when I was told it STILL wasn't ready! I was ready to just go get it and go somewhere else when all of a sudden the manager comes on the line and it's ready. 6.5 hours for an oil change??? RIDICULOUS!!! This place or should I say the service department Manager Mr. Steven, made one of my worst days SO much better!! After running over unseen road construction debris in the road (Thanks Baton Rouge Street Crews!!), I ended up with 2 flat tires! So, after having to call a tow truck, decided to have the car towed to This Pep Boys for tires. Tow truck pulled up there and Mr. Steven was standing near the opening of one of the car docks waiting with a clipboard. He smiled and began to asses the damage. He was kind and immediately advised one of the service guys as to what needed to be done. He even showed my some Of my vehicles smart key features I was unaware of after all of this time! I was immediately impressed. I had road hazard insurance and he handled the process for me while putting me at ease and changing my bad mood about today's events. Finally, he advised my husband and I to go enjoy a meal and he would have the work done while we were gone, and that he would see us when we returned. His manner was professional, calming, reassuring, and helpful. He is also very knowledgeable about Audi's, as he worked there previously for many years, and was clearly able to handle these cars much better than other places would have been able to do. (Even Tire changes can be tricky with these, which I had never knew). Your loss Audi!! Because he is amazing!! So Audi folks, go see him!! But, back to it, we returned and the car was ready to go! We have a commercial account with this location and we are quite satisfied with the staff and service. We have a fleet of 5 vans and 4 automobiles. The commercial accounts manager Kenny is a true superstar. He is knowledgeable and friendly. The service manager Bernie has a great talent for trouble shooting and moves quickly to get us and everybody in and out quickly. His assistant service manager Ervin is great and friendly also. They have a great team at this location. The cashiers are very helpful. Trouble shooting and service repair is a talent. These people do a very good job! read more

I needed help and had been waiting since I walked it although hadn't seen an employee since I walked in. Finally find one and they literally ran away from me and another one ignored me. So I go to find another one and what do they do? Put me on a computer and say I can find the info online...then disappeared. Unfortunately, this is the last time I will bring any of my cars into this Pepboys location. Two months ago, a simple charging of my A/C unit led to a follow-up visit where I was pat on the head and told the hissing noise was normal. One day later, another Pepboys location in Alabama helped my family return to vacation after making apologies for the sub-standard work of this location. I wanted to give this shop one more chance since we have been taking our five cars to them for the past nine years. I deeply regret this decision. After being told that all cars need an alignment EVERY 6 months, which is a lie; after being told that my one-year old alignment wasn't enough to protect my tires; after describing the vibration on Saturday and being told to wait until Sunday for an appointment; after waiting for my 3:00 appt to start at 4:00; after watching several cars go nefore mine; after being treated like an idiot by Carvin, the service manager; I WILL NEVER ALLOW THIS LOCATION TO TOUCH ANY OF MY VECHICLES EVER AGAIN. What happened to this shop? Pepboys, you've been warned. You really should find someone who can communicate with customers honestly without letting the pace of this shop filter into his customer service. The service manager was super helpful and you could tell his employees cared dramatically more about customer service this year than last year. I was quoted an hour and a half and was out of the shop in less (exact same job I needed done on my car but took 4.5 hours last year). The waiting room was redone and made to be more comfortable. He couldn't find the right one and he asked for help and he was trying to show the guy his phone because he took a picture and he ignored the picture he was trying to show him and said well that's all we got bro. So he bought a piece ran to the parking lot to try it real quick and he still had 12 minutes until they were supposed to close and my husband was at the door trying to get it and they ignored him and quickly took the drawer out of the cash register and walked off. I wish I could give no stars! My daughter's 2009 Ford Focus broke down in Baton Rouge on her way home from New Orleans. We called AAA who sent their tow truck and requested it be taken to a Ford Dealership but the driver (Colin) said to take it to Pep Boys instead. What should have been a simple belt replacement turned into changing out 2 other things plus an alternator to the tune of $981.00. I used to use Pep Boys in Slidell and they were great. Since I bought my tires there I started using this store when I moved to the area. Every trip there has been a bad experience. I'm not going to spend the time to write it all out but I've had to take my car back several times for the same problems. Try just calling them.
