Decent place to grab lunch and coffee while out and about in Oslo. Located close to Akershus Castle. This was the last place we enjoyed a meal while visiting the city before heading to the airport.
Because everything is so expensive in this city, we were looking for a more "reasonable" priced and quick meal. People and Coffee did the job on meeting those expectations. I ordered the chicken with hummus and sun dried tomatoes sandwich along with the mexican bean soup. My mom got the traditional norwegian shrimp sandwich with the same soup as well. The soup came out first and was unlike any mexican bean soup i have ever had before, but had a good flavor overall. Could have been a little bit hotter temperature wise though. The sandwich came next and was really tasty. The bread it came on was a whole grain type with tasty seeds on top. Good sized sandwich and nice flavor.
The environment here is nice and cozy as well. There are only a few tables inside, but it had an inviting feel and we enjoyed eating our lunch and relaxing here for a while. The service was okay, but the cashier seemed a bit snotty. Not sure if she was having a bad day or doesn't like American tourists in her cafe, hmm. Our total meal cost for 2 sandwiches, 2 soups and 2 drinks was about 385 NOK (about 60 USD), which is a decent price for this city. Would recommend to others visiting the city for a fresh, healthy meal. read more
