We liked our cinnamon buns so much we came back twice during our stay in Oslo. They were big, soft and just the right amount of sweet. This place was easy to find along Karl Johan Gate. Counter right at the entrance and all pastries lined up. Both times staff were quite friendly and quick. Besides the bun, we also got the school bread which was also quite good with lots of shredded coconut and icing and a creamy center. Our macchiato coffee was small but also quite strong. Caffeine helped peel us up for the rest of our wandering around Oslo. read more

Solid choice for a quick bite if you're staying at one of the hotels nearby. We each had filtered coffee and quiche and shared a cinnamon roll. The quiche were excellent and the filtered (what we call drip in the States) coffee was among the best I've had in Norway on our visit - smooth! Cinnamon roll was good but not the best I've had. In closing, the service was friendly and attentive. Excellent free wifi and plenty of seating. read more

Yum! The cinnamon rolls in the window lured me in. We got a cinnamon roll, an almond croissant and a cheese/jalapeño panini to share. The almond croissant is the best I have ever tasted! The service was friendly and they spoke English so we were able to order easily. There is quite a bit of seating inside which was nice since we were there in the winter. read more

Great local bakery. I did some research online and I guess W.B. Samson has been around for many years and is a Oslo tradition. The pastries were good and the sandwich was small, but hit the spot. The staff is friendly, but due to the volume of customers they won't take too much time to speak to you. The pastries were amazing! As a tourist I would recommend just getting a few to sample. The cinnamon bun is one of the best in Scandinavia. They're best when warm from the oven. The pastries are not unique to W.B. Samson and more traditional Scandinavia treats. I enjoyed the cream puff covered in chocolate. Personally I would pass on the coconut cream pastry. read more

Had the cinnamon bun at the airport location, omg the best one we had by far and away. We even bought another for the flight home and ate it this am in New York City. Found out they had a location near where our hotel was. Was disappointed and happy at the same time we didn't know, disappointed because we could've eaten them every day, but happy we didn't because I would've gained 10lbs in cinnamon bun weight. I was attracted here for a cinnamon bun but was very happy with both the service and the atmosphere. The cinnamon bun was very good, definitely the best I've had in Oslo so far. They're a bit unconventional, topped with sugar rather than a glaze, but there is a caramelization on the bottom that is to die for! Would recommend for any cinnamon bun lover! read more

The pastries look good and the coffee is fine, but there are many others to try. I personally prefer the coffee and pastries at Stockfleths. The skolebrød and kanelboller I had here were both oily. Looks like either the butter separated or they used a different lower quality fat for their pastries? Either way this was not my favorite. read more

I came in just to buy the cinnamon bun. I never had it from w.b. Samson before and oh my god!!!!! It is definitely the BEST in Oslo. In fact it is likely the BEST I have ever tasted. If by any mysterious circumstances you end up with a chocolate deficit, run to W.B Samson and order their dense varm sjokolade. I truly believe they are using not less that the equivalent of one chocolate bar (a.k.a 250g) per cup. If you are crazy enough, you will ask for cream on top of your warm chocolate and end up with cream obviously, plus chocolate sauce, plus chocolate chunks. Apart from this chocolate craziness, this café is well situated, spacious, clean, with friendly and efficient waitresses and the delicious pastries. read more

A very cute little coffee shop on the Karl Johans Gate drag, but OMG is Oslo expensive! I got a shrimp roll and a small espresso coffee - trying to pick the cheap options - and it still amazed me by the total price. I think what it is in Norway is that the tax is added after for food, so it is always more expensive than the list price(?) Very beautifully turned out though and every mouthful was delicious. The staff were very polite and accommodating of my non-existent Norwegian, only issue was I didn't understand that I had to collect my coffee from a very bar area to the right of the tills. read more

This coffee shop is located at Karl Johans street and of course its a busy cafe. They bake a lot of good stuff and I really love those things, the problem is that there is always a que here between 11-13.. and consider how many people that are working it moves really slow and its really no logic for where to move to order or get your coffee. But if you do wait, you are in for a treat, even though its not that far of a walk to the next one.. read more

Came by as per a recommendation for a place to try Norwegian brown cheese. The cafe is absolutely adorable, reasonably priced for Norwegian standards, and has free wifi (password on receipt). I had their brown cheese open-face sandwich and a strawberry-pineapple smoothie. Both were delicious! Loved the sandwich bun - it had seeds and raisins and was very fresh. Highly recommend this cafe, especially on a Sunday when most things are closed. read more

Wow, this is the best pastry I've had in a long time. My husband and I stopped in here to share a vanilla cream pastry and I wish I'd gotten my own! Of course everything costs an arm and a leg in Norway so it's probably better I didn't. Still, I was so impressed I daydreamed about it for days. Great food. Very delicious. Espresso was strong without being bitter. Croissant was excellent and the "cinnamon roll??" Was fantastic tasted just like my grandmas. The quiche was amazing just wish this restaurant was capable of heating it up they have no microwaves. I had to wait a few minutes for my rolls because the dishes were not finished washing. Adorable is the first word that comes to mind when I think of WB Samson. Totally adorable. Everything from the clean, warm environment to the lovely atmosphere. It's a great place to stop while doing a little shopping downtown. Their cinnamon rolls were voted best in the city in a Yelp taste test and I completely agree. They are open early on Sunday, and I had the best flaky pastry ever. Honestly, we walked in because everything else in the area was closed. But once inside, I noticed how cute and beautiful the interior was; lots of other customers were already seated. It has the looks of an upscale bakery but remains casual at the same time. I had the cinnamon walnut scone which was rich and not too sweet.
