I arrived super early in the morning from an overnight train trip from Bergen and needed to hunker down somewhere and kill time before doing a little sightseeing in Oslo. Cafe Opus had exactly what I needed: hot breakfast resembling something I could get back home in the US. (I'm as adventurous as they come when it comes to food, but when you're tired and cranky, you want the familiar.) I opted for the breakfast special that included eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast, plus OJ and coffee. I also got an extra waffle with jam on the side, because Norway. It all hit the spot quite nicely. Since it was so early, I had little wait and was able to get a table to myself and overlook the activity on the ground floor below. I found the price to be quite reasonable (In US to NOK adjusted terms.), especially since coffee was self-service and it appears that refills were gratis. For a train station restaurant, this was a-ok by me. read more
