Not too pleasant when you're sitting there for nails, and wearing fairly warm shoes. Two - the "quick dry" spray doesn't dry. Not to put your coat on isn't an option in the winter in New England. Having a place to dry your nails needs to be in place or atleast communicating to your client just sit here for x more minutes then we can check them. And lastly a smooth looking nail is expected when you pay for nails. I do my nails all the time at home the only different is that smooth finish you hope to achieve by a nail technician. The simple nail art did come out beautiful. Honestly, the salon itself is a no for me altogether with a less than average experience. I don't recommend it. I can be more specific of other issues but I honestly don't like leaving these kinds of reviews. I think the salon owner needs to pay more attention to details while there are far too many nail salons to choose from that capitalize on one of these issues. Maybe it was a bad first experience but i won't be returning.

I would have liked her to have left my toenails a bit longer; she cut them quite short and did not ask for my preference. The leg massage was quite weak and didn't do much other than rub the lotion in. The heel smoothing also was quite weak and didn't do much. The paint job was actually quite well done, nice and clean. Hopefully it lasts for a bit. She just generally seemed to not want to be there. After my service was done, the tech silently led me over to the drying station and walked away. I sat back to relax a bit, and happened to look to the front door--my nail tech was leaving for the night. I hadn't tipped her yet. Another tech had to put oil on my cuticles. It was a honestly a pretty depressing experience. I hope this isn't the norm. I won't be returning, unfortunately.

Also, I had a man doing my nails, and he did not know what he was doing. For example, he started off by putting stickers around my and then just dragging acrylic all the way down the stickers. Then, my nail was about 2 inches thick and after he finished the French tip part which wasn't even a French tip. It was just a line across my nails. After that, some other lady came over and had to drill it and redo the whole entire thing and I had plans that I was late for. I also on that day went with my friend, and her nails were bleeding in six different spots. I overall would not recommend but I would say that they gave us a good gift after of a little panda that had a light.

Some of the nail techs PRETEND to understand you. Spanish is my first language so I get it. There has been times when I've asked the nail tech an open ended question and they would pretend to understand me with a yes response. It's rude. If you don't understand, just say you don't. They're prices are reasonable and SOME of the nail techs are very kind and work hard. But I'm not sure the people who work there are happy or getting paid fairly. Most of them seem miserable to be there and it shows through their massages. I've been there over 100 times since I have lived in Cheshire and I finally think I'm done. To be honest, I only go there because they are usually the only ones that have walk in availability.

The massage chairs are the standard massage chairs that most salons have and the massage chair worked very well. I had Koko as my nail technician and for the spa pedicure I choose the Mango pedicure. The pedicure began with a mango Sea Salt Soak, and then a mango Sugar Scrub, followed by a mango thermal Mud Masque and at least a 10 minute Massage with mango Cream and hot stones on each foot/leg. After the pedicure I had a basic manicure, and she used a clear coat of polish. While I waited under the dryer she gave me a shoulder massage.

I was driving home from Cheshire today and noticed a sign for Peony Nails and decided to give it a try since I haven't been happy with my other salon. I honestly couldn't have been happier! Not only was the facility so nice, but it was very clean (all the instruments were UV sanitized and they use new files and buffers each time) and aesthetically pleasing. I got a shellac mani, and Sarah even took the time to repair one of my nails that was close to breaking so that I wouldn't have any issues with it breaking later on and ruining my manicure. I've tried several salons around New Haven and Hamden, but this one is by far my favorite. A massage and parafin wax are included with the manicure as well, which was great. Highly recommend trying this place out! read more

Disappointed and Hurt by Racial Profiling I had an extremely upsetting experience at this nail salon. I was denied the use of their ATM without a clear explanation, while others were allowed to use it without issue. The staff's behavior toward me felt targeted and discriminatory, and I was treated with blatant disrespect. I was met with coldness from the door. What I thought would be just a pleasant and respectful interaction turned into something very troubling to deal with. No one deserves to be treated differently because of their race or background. I'm sharing this in hopes that management will reflect on their practices and ensure fair treatment for all customers moving forward. read more

First time stopping by as a walk-in the other day and I could say i would definitely be back. They accommodated me pretty quick. Initially went in for a spa pedicure but then decided to get a manicure as well. I am extremely picky and very particular, but I can honestly say I enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere as well as the service. Only downfall for me was the amount of time they took (way too long) but for someone else, it might be just what you need. Other than that, so far Peony Nails and Spa will be my salon. read more
