I had a valve issue in my irrigation. I called around to get someone to come out but no one had time as they were all too busy. I called PennyGreen. They said it would be $129 and change to show up and the valve would be extra and said maybe $65 or more if it was the valve. I told them to come. When he arrived and was evaluating I told him I wanted to get cash and what was the total going to be? The guy looked at the problem and said it would be $500. I was shocked as I was thinking maybe $250 to $300 at most. The person used a device to find the valve (4 minutes), dug a hole of about 5 Inches (5 minutes) and did a repair. Total job was 55 minutes for $500. It just seemed very expensive. I checked rainbird valves and they cost between $85 and $124 depending on what is needed or where they are purchased. I did this after the fact because I was just wondering what the heck cost so much. The good news is they came and 4 hours earlier than expected. They did call first. My purpose is to alert you to the expense and make sure you ask direct questions so you are not shocked. I was in a bind and did what I had to do but as far as long term business and more work, they are too expensive in my opinion. They were good in an emergency. After reading about the owner again after the fact; it helped making this a first and last experience. I want to be clear I had no contact with the owner good or bad and the person doing the service was professional. This is about the expense! It appears the owners response to complaints of problems from customers is "Family Issues" which I hope he gets rectified especially if you look at the dates and see it has been a response since 2020. Hopefully his situation gets better because it could be a great business with some price modifications and of course his attitude to customer concerns. I wish them luck. I posted this under landscaping so I moved it to the sprinklers. read more
