Tip: Collect and spend Triangle points here…read more It's funny that I have never reviewed this Sport Chek store. I was here many years ago. Last Saturday, I revisited it. I frequent the other two stores to the right of Sport Chek regularly. Staples is between this store and Winners. There is plenty of parking for these three stores. I came here at around 5:30 pm and nabbed the closest parking spot by Sport Chek. I walked in and was greeted by all Team Canada-branded apparel. I looked at one of the cool Bauer t-shirts with a black maple leaf on the front. It was $50. I put it back on the rack. I looked at almost everything. Athletic apparel. Jackets. Snowboard gear. Sneakers. Hand weights. This store has a lot of merchandise. The last time I was at a Sport Chek, I bought a pair of mittens. I still wear them. I had to fix the thumb part recently. I looked at the gloves and mittens at this store. None of them were on sale, but I liked a few pairs. As usual, I dipped into the clearance racks and shelves. I got a pink Skechers t-shirt that was originally $43. I got it for $14. I also got a Corksicle wine tumbler. It was also at the same original and discounted prices as my t-shirt. I went to pay for my items at the checkout. The man there was super friendly. He scanned my Triangle rewards barcode. He said that I could redeem my rewards towards the full price of my two items. Yes, please! It was my first time redeeming. It felt good, almost as if I was running away with murder... haha! He asked me if I wanted a bag for $2. It better be an amazing bag for that price! I declined. I thanked him, grabbed my goods, and headed to my car. This place has change rooms. I didn't need to try on my t-shirt. I measured it against me and knew that it would fit. I liked shopping here. I should drop by more often. The deals are great. (104)

I came here on a Sunday evening and was surprised to see the store was so neat and organized. The layout of the store was quite nice, but the selection is not. They didn't have many products available in my size, and none of the higher end brands either (North Face, Arcteryx etc). I was looking for Nike running gear and even that they didn't have. Oh well... The associates though are amazing. So caring, very observant of the customers and willing to help with everything. They knew the products really well, and the ones which weren't there that I wanted. Sportchek has a cool iPad system to check product inventory which was neat. I was still able to get some gear, but prob won't come back to this location.

In fact, I shop more often online, as there are more merchandises of my sizes available. Pretty much all physical stores at which I have shopped don't carry my size, or I have to digged really hard to find them. I returned clothing I had bought online to this location previously; the cashier was very cooperative. Upon checking that all tags were there and the clothes were not damaged, she refunded me with no fuss. 4 stars for the combined online shopping and great customer services in store.

Sadly, even though the store is bigger, it still lacked a lot of the popular items as I guess the items are sold out just as quick which means there is a lot of traffic but still have a good amount of variety. I don't remember seeing self checkouts there. Perhaps it is not needed but I feel they need to add it to make the checkout faster and also not having to wait for a staff to show up to check people out. This Dollarama is conveniently located in a plaza with lots of restaurants and even a Service Ontario, and even a No Frills, at next door plaza which means can kill a few birds with one stone when needing to run many errands :) The parking lot is huge and there is sufficient parking. Transit Viva Purple is easily accessible to get there.

This plaza…read morehas a Jiffy Lube that I often took my first car that I ever owned, a Pontiac Grand Am, for oil changes and more. This plaza has my local ServiceOntario, where I have posed for my driver's licence mugshot over the years. This plaza also has a Dollarama that has been here for as long as I can remember. I decided to pay it a visit last Wednesday evening. On Thursday, my department had a virtual lunch. It was my suggestion to hijack our regular weekly meeting to ban chatting about work and have lunch with the team virtually. I managed to convince my colleagues to order takeout. It worked! Being on video (I'm not a fan in general, but I'm okay sacrificing my face for lunch and chatting about non-work-related stuff for an hour), I felt that I needed a Santa hat to get into the festive spirit. I knew that I could rely on Dollarama for my needs. It did not fail. Let's talk about parking. There are lots of parking spots in this plaza. Some of them are extremely roomy, like the one that I was parked at. I swung my driver's side door wide open and had another foot between my door and the car next to me. Yay! Dollar stores are deemed essential during this pandemic and remain open. The prime reason is that they offer food and drinks. Naturally, there were a number of customers shopping when I was there. I immediately looked for the Christmas section. I found it easily! There were lots of Santa hats to choose from. There was the traditional one that I ultimately got. One had two white braids going down either side. Another had antlers. I loved the elf hat with huge ears. The problem is that it didn't accommodate my huge head. Luckily, the traditional one did for a whopping $1.25. The aisles are long in this store. They stretch from where the cashout area is at the front to the very back before you hit the employee area. So, everyone seemed to ignore the arrows on the floor in each aisle. If you were at at aisle where you saw an item, but it meant walking down another aisle and back up to take a closer look at it, most chose to ignore what you should do in favour of convenience. This store is a fascinating place to observe how humans behave. If I didn't have errands to run, I would have found a chair and watched people for a good half an hour. Between Dollarama and Dollar Tree, I like the latter more before everything is the same price. Dollarama varies its prices based on the type of item. So, is it truly a dollar store by definition? Maybe it should change its name to Dollars-rama instead. I do enjoy getting candy here. I got two white chocolate KitKat bars and they were delicious and cheap. The snacks section is pretty impressive. This store has garlic naan, which I don't often see at Dollarama. Perhaps this area has more South Asian folks that this store is being accommodative. It's cool. I lined up to pay for my items. There were two cashiers working that evening. The woman behind me was standing way too close to me. My staring at her and the marker on the floor did not do a thing. She was oblivious, as was the woman behind her standing inches away. It's not an issue with the store, but with people who don't get it. Anyway, I got a nice male cashier who helped get me on my way. My items cost me $6.66. I joked that perhaps I should get another item. He laughed. I used my debit card and all was great. I didn't need a bag and wished him a good evening as I headed to my car. It's a decent Dollarama. Other than folks not physically distancing as well as they should in the store, I'd return because the selection is perfect for my needs. (448)

During the current time of COVID-19, I did find this store a bit more spacious, a bit more clean, and a bit more organized than what I'm used to seeing at the other stores. At the 'scan-it-yourself' check-out point, you're to wait behind 'the guideline' for an associate to direct you to a clean and sanitized terminal...unlike the other stores. The only thing that needs improvement was the dairy/egg/milk area. I avoided it and only let the wife grab what we needed from that section, because there was a bit of over-crowding and no social-distancing involved. That got me concerned and it was only mid-morning at the time. Perhaps, either they widen that space somehow - or just have an associate or two limit the amount of foot traffic during peak times in that area, like how they do at the entrance.
