I like Dollarama when it comes to getting candy, canned goods, and spices. The items are of good quality and the price is right. Items are no longer a dollar. You see the price vary depending on the item that you're getting. You can get sandwich bags with the zipper seal for $1.25. A roll of aluminum foil will cost you $3. Prices are still decent. I've heard that the most expensive item these days will set you back $5. I have yet to buy anything for that price. I bought something for my plant a while back that was $4.25. I like getting tissue paper for gift bags and the gift bags themselves. They are cheap and of decent quality. The snacks are also amazing. I am seeing more sugar-free options these days, but they are still outnumbered by chocolate bars and hard candy that are highly sugary. I have bought lightbulbs from Dollarama in the past. It didn't set my house on fire. One of them recently died. It was an LED. I can't recall how long I have been using it. It was definitely for a few years. Last Saturday, I was hoping to drop by this store and shop. It's not worth attempting a visit on weekends. This store is next to the Mandarin, where families like to gather and enjoy the buffet. All parking spots in this vicinity were taken up. It likely explains why I don't shop here as often than I used to. There's a Dollar Tree a couple of minutes away that never has an issue with parking. I tend to like the variety of products that it offers, including bagel seasoning and sugar-free beverages. Maybe when I'm here after work, I'll return to revisit this store. It's a good one. The parking can make or break your visit, though. (193)

This is probably the least known one as it's tucked in a corner inside Box Grove Plaza, but this is probably by favourite of the four. Everything about this particular store is organized, and I find this store carries a lot more of the $3 items that are actually worth that much (e.g: huge collections of shampoo and body/hand wash). The cashiers here are also efficient and actually smile and greet at you, despite them being paid the amount they are paid. This store gets somewhat busy around 5-6pm as business workers do come in to buy some last-minute items, which makes sense as it is located in an almost purely residential area.

There are lots of parking spots in this plaza of box stores. It was busy last Saturday, but I managed to find a spot relatively close to both stores. My first visit a couple of Saturdays ago was interesting. A female panhandler who was in front of a Dollarama across from Hillcrest Mall had moved over to this location. She asked for money. I said that I didn't have any cash, just like the previous week. I am all for helping people. It seems like a gig for her to be in front of a different Dollarama every Saturday. This store has wide aisles with a lot of selection. It has a lot of seasonal items. For Valentine's Day, it has everything from chocolates, to plushies. If you go over an aisle, Easter merchandise is out. You can get everything for your Easter egg hunt, from plastic eggs that you can fill with goodies, to chocolate bunnies. I came here for snacks and food. I saw bean sprouts in cans for the first time. It was cool and different. I had fond memories of seeing Breaktime cookies. My mom used to get them and they were hard as a rock. You could do some damage whipping one across the room and hitting anything. They tasted better when you dunked them in milk, tea, or any beverage that would soften these cookies. The snacks are awesome. I loved getting small bags of macadamia and brazil nuts. I also enjoyed the trail mixes. So good! You can get one-litre bottles of Pepsi for $1. It's one of the few items that are a dollar at this store. Most items start at $1.25. This store has both humans and self-checkout kiosks. I have used both. They were both fine, but I like dealing with humans more. I had a nice woman scan my items and let me know how much I owed. I tapped with a credit card. I placed all my items in my reusable bag. I thanked her and left. It's nice shopping here. I'd return when I'm in Richmond Hill again. (44)

She gave us a rude attitude throughout the entire interaction and even yelled at us when we tried to bag our own items. Customers should be treated with respect, not yelled at or made to feel unwelcome. If you expect good customer service, I would not recommend this store.

Shelves are truly completely filled all the time, and I find this is one of those Dollaramas that you always find what you're looking for. I honestly wish I could rate it 5 stars, but unfortunately, I can only give 3- the cashiers at this location are EXTREMELY slow, and I've noticed that they are not well-trained in general with the registers. It's very annoying because there have been time where I've waited 20+ minutes in line waiting to have my products cashed out. When I have my 15 minute break at work, I barely have any time usually to grab a quick snack at Dollarama. This is all because of these cashiers! Even when every cash aisles are open, there are still very long lines. So, my advice- If you have time to kill and you don't mind waiting in lines every once in a while, this Dollarama will usually always have what you're looking for, which is great!

The scrapbook section was pretty sad and I will likely not come back for it at this location. All I saw were mostly plastic bags, stickers, etc. Pretty much the same as other locations but with less items. Afterwards, I typically pop by Dollar Tree to browse and shop. I was in the area the other day and decided to drop by. I prefer Dollar Tree to Dollarama. I like the selection and everything is $1.25. At the latter, there are items that even go for $4.25. What's the point of being a dollar store if you are paying dollars for a single item? I suppose that we can blame our Canadian dollar competing with the American one when it comes to Dollarama pricing. Anyway, this Dollar Tree is the only one in Markham. I love the selection of items, from sardines, to dumplings and chicken in cans. I also love the noodle section. The seasonal section is awesome. Easter is nearly here. You can get scented Easter bunny plush toys and a ton of chocolate items. Nice! Staff are friendly. I managed to witness two staff members training a new one. They were much younger than the new hire, but were incredibly supportive of her progress. I still miss the awesomeness of Dollar Tree in the States. Perhaps one day, the frozen food section will magically appear in Canadian stores. In the meantime, I am pleased to get decent items that are cheap and of good quality here. (132)

However, the big bonus about this Dollarama, is that they now have self-checkout, so that you don't have to depend on an actual person (other than yourself) handling your purchases. I am a fan of this location for sure. It has a crisp, organized feel, where many other Dollaramas feel kind of grungy and cluttered, with stuff organized in random displays. Also, the self-checkout was a huge plus. I was tempted to give it four stars, because often you cannot find a staff to tell you where things are. However, if they hired all this staff, then they probably would not be able to call themselves Dollarama anymore. It is located at Port Union, just east of Shepherd on Hwy. 2. I don't think that it is worth a day trip out to Scarborough, but if you are in the area and want to pick up some inexpensive things, then this is the place! Parking is ample. However, the Rylander Dollarama also shares a plaza with a Drive Test Centre. You can expect to be driving quite slowly in the parking lot. Otherwise, it is a good shopping experience, and if you didn't get everything that you needed, there is a Canadian Tire on the other side of the mall.

Since it's still relatively new, some aisles aren't full especially the kids toy and stationery aisle. But while I was there, there are staff at different aisles unboxing and shelving. Store is generally clean and organized. Selection pretty standard and I haven't found anything that's super nice like brand name stuff yet; hopefully it'll get better. I like that this store has self check out. Quick and easy and limited contact with other people.

Last Saturday, I was in Scarborough to pick up some takeout for dinner. After fetching my food, I did a search to find a dollar store and found this Dollarama across the street from where I was. Perfect! This store is in a corner of a plaza where Markham Street Station is. I found parking closer to the RBC bank and backed into a spot. I then walked over to check the store out. The merchandise is laid out similar to most Dollarama stores. You get seasonal items, which is Valentine's Day and Easter merchandise that immediately greet you. The selection was decent. Gift cards are right by the entrance. It's a trend. It doesn't work for me, though. Getting a gift card is the last thing I want to do when I'm at a dollar store. I'm getting goods for me! This store had a lot of candy. I was impressed. The selection was fabulous. I liked seeing sugar-free options. One-litre bottles of Pepsi products are indeed a dollar at this store. Most items start at $1.25. It's nice that you can still get something for a loonie. I end up getting a couple of bottles when I want pop. I tend to get either Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Zero. I like getting tissue paper at Dollarama. It does make your gift bag more festive with pretty tissue paper. It's nice and it doesn't breaking your budget. Love Dollarama! Not…read moreeverything is a dollar but prices usually don't exceed $2. Whenever I forget something in my luggage or need something in a hurry, this place saves me. It's bigger than most dollar stores I've been to. They offer bath products, toys, crafts, kitchen supplies, birthday supplies, souvenirs, candy, home decoration pieces, etc. The quality of their products are good. The aisles are quite spacious but the store can get busy, making it a bit difficult to shop. There are always plenty of cashiers on board. They are quick and friendly but the lines are still long. Overall, a great place to hit if you don't want to spend a whole lot of cash.
