The staff was friendly and professional which isn't the norm at music clubs...didn't detect any gratuitous attitude. My verdict is St. Rock is a must visit for live music fans in the southbay. It's not like other venues where you can show up anytime, grab a drink and stand around it's an arrive before the show starts, sit down, order drinks, don't move and be quiet kind of place. Although I did enjoy some of the musical acts I felt the comedy acts between sets were unnecessary and didn't fit with the musical theme of the lounge. They have something for everyone 7 days a week and all day on the weekends. Always top quality bands and a super fun vibe and atmosphere. This used to be a YMCA but it looks like an old church with dark wood flooring, high ceilings and stained glass windows. A very cool venue. How did it sound? Loud. Extremely loud. They also had a huge video board which gave each band a little extra hot sauce. There were a couple of bars in the back and you could also order food. It's air conditioned in there but between the heat (100+ outside at the time) and the amount of bodies inside, it was at least bearable. Mosh for Youth was great as always and while I loved the DIY ethos in the past this felt like a leap forward. The sound, look and venue made this feel big time. I hope future MFY shows take place here...until they maybe outgrow this place too, which would mean more scholarships for the kids. Highly recommended!

The main room is tiny, so anywhere you stand you will have a great view of the performers. I definitely plan to come back to see another show here, wish I had caught shows here in the past... We were told that once show starts and no one uses space we can return to our spots. Opener came on and we moved to our spaces but then we were told only four guests had permission to stand in those areas. A lady who had shown up with her babe and the father and son. The lady got loud with me as if she was there prior to my son and I, like lady it is not that serious and I have a child! Other than the terrible experience with customer service it was an epic show. Those are the pros. Cons, though, are significant. For $60, you expect more than an unpadded, plastic folding chair packed in shoulder to shoulder. Very uncomfortable, especially when the show started late. Speaking of times- they didn't publicize the correct end time for the concert on the website. That's a problem when you are planning on getting a ride home, and suddenly you're done over an hour early. Then there's the lighting. Bright AF and they would just randomly roll around in the fixtures, blinding the audience temporarily. It was physically uncomfortable, not just got me but for several around me. And once the show was over, security started to yell at people rudely to leave and "go talk outside". Even people finishing drinks or, like I was, waiting for my minor child to exit the restroom. (Speaking of the restroom, several of the stall doors in the women's stick.) So yeah, great sound, good artist, but I don't think I'm going to hurry back to this venue.
