This HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE EYE SURGEONS. They provide a fantastic service. OPTICAL ONLY, 11/14/23 I purchased a nice pair of classes. I had been waiting for them to contact me to state they were ready. On 12/6/23 my intuition/gut kicked in so I gave them a call. This lady took my info and stated, we gave you a call on the 21st. Now I know I have been awaiting this $537 purchase. So I did my research before picking them up ( prompts to the IPHONE ) I had NO calls from Peninsula Eye Center OPTICAL. I had NO voice message OR text messages from Peninsula Eye Center OPTICAL I had NO direct IPHONE LOGGED OR MISSED CALLS from them as well! Note: IPhone stores data ( VM, Missed Calls and Normal calls for 180...and some guy put this lie in his notes TT ( meaning talked to ) ...it wasn't me!! But nevertheless...my glasses were not charged your $30 restocking fee.. read more

Had an appointment. Arrived in the area I believed to be correct and stood in a waiting room. Was glanced at a few times by someone behind the desk who after 10 minutes or so did finally address me. She explained that I was in the wrong section and told me where we were supposed to go. Once we arrived in the correct area I was told to fill out forms and when completed I will be seen. When completed I took the forms back to the reception desk and they told me the dr will get those from me (no one ever took the forms so I brought them home). After a wait I was taken "back" into the exam area. They conducted tests in various rooms done by a variety of staff. They had to take the photos several times to finally have what they needed. Was then taken to a room and was told the Dr will be right in. After about 1/2 hour or so the Dr did come in. Did the exam and then said he felt my issue was more than cataracts and suggested I see a retina specialist. i went to the retina specialist and found it wasn't necessary. I decided to find a different office/dr and calld the office to ask them to fax my results of my exam to the new dr I was met with an attitude and told I have to sign a release first. I called the retina dr and his office told me they will have the office fax the results to the new drs office . Just not a pleasant or reassuring experience. Did not and do not want any of the staff there doing anything with my eyes, particularly surgery. Not a staff that show any concern or compassion. Good luck and best wishes to those brave enough to trust their eye care to this office. Brief follow up: on Sunday Jan 5 we were texed their bill. Printed out the statement and will be paying by check (we're old school). This morning (Jan 11), 6 days after the first bill text arrived, the same bill was texted to me again this morning. I have now blocked their number so we don't continue to be harassed. Never had anything like this happen before. Too bad they don't make the same effort to help patients as they do to collect their payments. Sad! read more

I have been a patient at Peninsula for many years. The doctors are good, but the wait time in the office is usually overly long. Now you can no longer call to make an appointment and expect the phone to be answered. You are sent to a scheduling answering machine to leave your info and are told you will be called back. It says the voicemail is monitored twice a day. Don't hold your breath waiting for a callback. What a terrible system! Isn't anyone conscientious anymore about doing their job? If you're in urgent need of eye care it seems you won't get it here! read more

Had a great experience. Called to get an appointment and didn't have to wait a long time.

Doctors are more than competent. However infrastructure of office is lacking. Phone are often not answered. I have used the patient portal and have had no response to any message left. Wait times are long. Surgical schedule can change without timely notice.​​ read more

I cannot speak to the quality of care here. I had a morning appointment, showed up 10 minutes prior, checked in and then took a seat in the waiting area. Thirty minutes later, I went to the desk to inquire about the delay and was told "this is how it is in doctor's offices." I do not recall an apology and was told I am next. Another 30 minutes went by and informed the desk I was leaving. I would encourage others who make appointments to budget their time accordingly. I strongly encourage this office to review their scheduling procedures, delay mitigation and guest services. Further, I disagree with the notion that I should accept my time being wasted and disrespected because I am at a medical office. read more

While their doctors are good, their optical department is downright rude. We originally received bifocals which did not work well. We were pressured to keep them and we insisted on getting reading glasses as the previous glasses were still fairly good for distance. So, we waited about another two weeks and when we went down to pick up the reading glasses, they made us distance glasses. The original person who worked with us insisted that we said we wanted distance glasses with a bad attitude just short to accusing us of being liars. We asked for a refund (which the other person in the optical department did on the spot) and we went to Sears and got a much better deal. We will go back for eye exams but we will go elsewhere for frames and lenses. read more

Being that my husband is active military, I have my share of experience with searching for new services. I've had optical eyeglasses for 10 years, thus my review on this business is to be constructive criticism in order to give customers/potential customers the opportunity to be served honestly, with full disclosure. I went in for an appointment, had an eye exam, and asked if I could bring my frames in sometime next week being that I had forgot them at home, and was told that was fine. One week later, I took my frames in and was then told by an employee I was not allowed to have lenses put into my own frames. After explaining what I was told when I had previously came in, I requested to speak to the supervisor, shortly after the lady I was speaking to randomly walked away. I waited about 5 minutes, and inquired from the front desk if anyone was following up on my request to see the supervisor. The same employee then came back and told me, bottom-line they will not take my frames and that is it. I asked her if she was the supervisor, but was told no, but she was to relay the message. I told her I didn't understand, I requested to speak to the supervisor, if she was busy I could wait. The employee refused to allow me to speak to her, and once again simply walked away without saying anything. The supervisor finally came out, I explained the situation; communicated that in my experience I have never had an ophthalmologist refuse to take frames I had bought elsewhere, the fact I was never informed of their policy, I confirmed I would bring my own frames just a week ago with one of their employees, and that in my opinion it is not professional to not disclose or inform your customers/potential customers of significant policies. Both ladies I spoke to said to me, "I am not going to argue with you," which to me was very hostile and offensive, since I spoke to them in the most professional manner. There were about 15 customers in the waiting area, and I am sure they were all listening in, which hopefully would allow them to see the lack of professionalism and care they have for their customers. I requested to speak to the owner/s or contact information, in order to file a complaint. I was given a complaint for after asking three times (and continuously saying please and thank you), as I was stared at. As I was filling out the complaint for, the supervisor decided to stand about three feet away from me and stare as I filled out the form. Thankfully I called Chesapeake Eye Center and they were more than willing to help me out. I went over right away and without a hitch was provided great service. By the way, both times I was there, I overhead about five customers struggling with picking a pair of eyeglasses; an individual even said to himself "I'm only using them for reading, I'm only using them for reading." One should have a choice on what frames they choose to wear, it's already bad enough having bad eyesight. read more
