Hat's off and thank you to Alyssa Ramirez, Daniel and Juan were extremely patient and professional all the way from supporting me in getting the permit to waiting almost a year to get my garage+shed demo done. Alyssa managed the paperwork, Juan did the initial inspection (on a Saturday, my preferred time) and Daniel+crew did the actual demo. I cannot stress enough, they were quite empathetic, supportive they all are were independently supporting me for various objectives in this process. Daniel, dropped of the heavy machinery couple of days before. And on the day of the demo, Daniel and team showed up on time. They were meticulous in the demo: 1. Carefully ensured there is damage to the water spouts close to the garage and closed it off as part of the demo to ensure there was no leak. 2. Ensured at all times during garage demolition and manual cement breaking (via cement saw) they poured water to keep the dust off from the main home or the neighbors home 3. At the end they hauled away the debry with their semi-trucks, cleaned the whole area with power vaccums but also with water to clean up the track of the heavy machinery. They truly did a amazing job! From a price point of view, I got 2-3 quotes, felt reasonable, around the same price as others. I plan to come back again, for a smaller area clean-up soon. We hired Peninsula Hauling to deconstruct our old house in Redwood City before a complete rebuild. Various existing items were carefully uninstalled and donated for a tax credit (cabinets, windows, tiles, light fixtures, mirrors, appliances, plumbing finishes, lumber, etc.). The scope of work also included demolishing the concrete slab foundation; mixed debris were dumped at a landfill or recycling facility. The crew also took care of asbestos and lead abatement and removal. All that was left was just soil and dirt, ready for the next stage of the rebuild (excavation). The one-story house was about 1350 sqft plus a carport, on a 7500 sqft lot. Peninsula Hauling got the job done in 3.5 days, much faster than I expected (10 ~ 15 days). I wasn't on site all the time, but my next door neighbors told me they were super impressed with how organized the crew was. The lot was on a 2-lane street sloping up with a blind curve and no sidewalk, and the crew got their big machines on site without any problem. They had at least 2 dump trucks alternating to take the debris away. They sprayed water to keep the dust down. I asked and haven't heard my neighbors complain about the dust and noise. Peninsula Hauling was very communicative during the negotiation and the actual work. I dealt with Tracy, Chris, Alyssa, and Daniel. It did take 2 weeks for me to sign, but mostly because I needed to get a hold of the appraiser (a separate company, Green Earth Appraisals). Once I signed, Peninsula Hauling got started in less than a week. I was nervous about deconstruction because I have never had it done, but the experience was quite smooth with Peninsula Hauling. I'd definitely recommend Peninsula Hauling if you need deconstruction done. (I still need to get the tax form from the appraiser to see if I'm getting a decent tax credit.) read more

Peninsula Hauling & Demolition was hired to demo my house in San Jose. They were instructed to only demo interior and NOT to enter or touch anything in the garage or outside (backyard or side yard). These people did good job on interior demo, however they looted our yards and removed our things (BBQ grill, furniture, tricycle etc). They were told to leave everything as it was in the garage, but they stole things from our garage including my mother's ashes that were to be spread this summer with our whole family. They took refrigerators, washer and dryer, thousands of dollars in tools and household collectibles. All our family memorabilia (photos and documents) have been removed from our property. They took golf clubs, suitcases full of items that were ours stored in the garage during demolition. We lost everything because they did not follow directions that were very clear: do not remove anything from or enter garage. These instructions were passed on to the owner of the company on more than one occasion: when hired and during the demo. The owner was there during demo. We are out thousands of dollars because we lost vintage furniture/paintings/lamps/dishes/silverware. Do not allow this business into your home because they will loot and steal everything. The office staff was extremely rude when I contacted the office giving me runaround. They would not apologize or call me back when I left messages. I was initially told my items were removed from garage for temporary storage but week later told that someone accidentally emptied the truck with my items from garage (the only area we ask to not be entered) were dumped and were no longer retrievable. Where are my mother's ashes that we were going to spread this summer with my family? We were unable to take them with us when flying back to our current residence in East Coast and never thought these idiots would empty whole two car garage of well organized collectibles!!! Good things we can hire attorneys and report this to police and BBB. This will not end with just Yelp review! We have photos and videos of what was in the garage!!! And how it was stored! Ohh but the owner did call and ask if the car in the garage is for sale! And was told again that nothing is to be touched in garage including the car!!!! Total lock of remorse or respect for peoples belongings. My husband lost 100 years of family memorabilia which can not be retrieved bc they all are passed and he has no other living relatives. How do you even start to process that type of loss??! What do you think is a value on priceless item like your MOTHER's ASHES? She passed in October 2021! We have witnesses of what and where she was temporarily stored during preparation for remodel of this property that she gave to us. Lawyers are happy to help and I will not be supervised if this business will be out of business by next year! Even their insurance will dump them for the damages we will sue. I'm so happy I found Peninsula H&D! My neighbor, a contractor, recommended them to me. My house needed so much work including totally redoing the interior down to the studs and foundation repair. Before that I had already met a few contractors to get an estimate (including my neighbor). I wasn't getting anywhere. One contractor could do the demo but nothing else. Another could do the foundation repair but nothing else. Another could do the whole project but not for 9 months! Luckily I did schedule an appointment with Peninsula. I met with Chris who came out on the weekend. He made the whole project seem simple. A total expert and a problem solver. They did not detroy any hard or soft landscape when they tore down and took out the storage area attached to the stucco on the side of my house (including a cement slab). I hired Peninsula Hauling & Demo on two occasions. The first time it was to haul debris from a guest house remodel. The second time was to demo a pool and haul debris. I was very pleased with the quality of the work they did. In addition, they demonstrated to me that they are fair and have integrity. We had a signed quote for a job from them, and the parameters of the job changed a bit as the job unfolded. When the final bill came for the job, I felt that I should be issued a credit for the parts of the job they quoted that ended up not being part of our job, and for a few other things that weren't fully explained. I called & asked if someone can come & give me an estimate, they said they can do it buy looking at picture. I sent them a picture of the area to be cleaned, no answer. I text them and ask: how much? They want to know my name, I provided first & last. Then the estimate came to be 1.5 x $1100. I said thank you. I did it myself. And I paid $45.00 for 5'x12' trailer and $225.00 for Recology San Carlos. Total $269.00. Not $1650.00. Big difference . read more

Had a small wooden shed in my back yard that over time became a rat sanctuary. After months of the Clark's Man I decided to just have the shed removed. They demolished and removed the shed in about 2 hours for a very reasonable cost. After they swept up and power washed an area bigger than that covered by the shed. Called Jessica and quickly arranged for someone to come over and give an estimate. Francisco showed up on time , seemed very nice and professional . He said he'd have written estimate for me if not that night then the next day for sure. Well , almost one month later nothing , called Jessica 5-6 times to inquire . Amazing! They exceeded my expectations. I saw the negative review on Yelp which gave me some doubts, so I did more searching online and checked with the better business bureau. I didn't see any other (new) negative comments so I decided to give them a chance. Chris the project manager was very friendly and provided an estimate the same day I called. I needed them to tear out all the vegetation in my large overgrown yard. I was in a hurry to get the project started and they were very accommodating and scheduled a whole crew to come the next day. When they were here, they were very communicative, often double checking if they were unsure if I wanted a certain plant removed, etc... They were very professional the whole time and worked quickly. They showed up on-time and there were no hidden costs or surprises. I paid exactly what was agreed to in the estimate. I would absolutely hire them again. I called Saturday morning to try to have someone come and clear our side yard. I was given an estimate, provided my email and address and was told specifically that someone could come out TODAY. I was told to email and text a picture so that I could get a firm estimate. After that I called to follow up and no one ever came to my house, called me back, or texted back. The quality of the clean up is good, and the guys that come out to the site do a great job. The problem is their pricing. They give you a coupon that says $99 dollar cleanup special, They come out and tell you that it will cost $400 buck, 350 if they take it now. You tell them you have a clean up coupon for $99 and they say ok. When they are done and you go to pay, they say that the coupon is for $99 off, not $99. The coupon does not say "off" anywhere. It says $99. If you use them get a firm price. read more

Customer service is -really- lacking! I had an estimator come out to do a bid on our backyard and asked for it to be itemized as we had a limited budget and weren't sure how much we could have done, but would decide based on cost. After I got the itemized estimate I called the office to ask how to adjust it to do the work we could afford. I was told if I didn't sign for the whole job it would be $200 more, oh but wait, if you can't afford that I'll see what I can do and maybe it'll only be $150 more. I felt like I was being sold a used car or something. What is this random service charge that is not listed on their website -anywhere-?? Their site specifically says: "How do you price your services? We price based on volume, which means we charge for the size of debris that we haul away." It doesn't say anything about extra charges, fees, etc. Also, they offer coupons everywhere, on their business cards, on their website (which are expired, tells you how often they update the site.) Offering coupons then turning around and tacking on extra charges is a horrible customer experience. Lastly, after canceling the job, and explaining why - i.e. bad experience, extra charges - I got a call from someone else in the office to ask about why we didn't go ahead with the bid. I explained it to him, suggested they update their website with information about extra charges and update the coupons, or at least take the expired ones down. Yes, thank you, sorry it didn't work out. Then today I got -another- call asking about our bid to check if it was done (??!?) No, I explained to you two weeks ago why I canceled the bid, you can mark it as closed, please don't call again. So Mr. Left Hand meet Mr. Right Hand. I used Peninsula Hauling for the second time today. The first time they hauled enough junk to fill a large truck. They came out quoted the job the crew was on site an hour later. No surprises on the price just as quoted. I even received a thank you letter with $200 in coupons. Today I called this time the crew came quoted a price. They where nice clean and professional. When it came time I handed them a coupon and was done!!!! NO EXTRA CHARGES. THEY DID THE JOB FOR FREE!!!!! They were even kind enough to carry a large piece of furniture down the stairs and put it in the garage. Best service every! read more

I used Peninsula Hauling to demo a one bedroom apartment and they did an excellent job. They brought a large truck to dump all the waste in and five guys to do the work. They guys know what they are doing. They flew through the apartment and were out in less than a day. The place was swept clean and ready to remodel. The next three apartments were to be demoed all at the same time, so I called Peninsula, but I just couldn't get the price down to where I needed it. I shopped around and found another company to do the work. That was a mistake. The guys were not experienced, they worked incredibly slow, and damaged walls that I was planning to keep. When they left, there were still some nails and staples in the walls and floor. Fast forward again, when I had to demo two more units. I knew Peninsula had to do the job. I needed it to be good clean job and needed it done fast. Peninsula did not disappoint. We negotiated some, but at the end of the day I paid a little more to have the job done right. They came on time with a huge truck and a back-up truck if it got full. They were ready! 8-10 guys showed up and they demoed the two units in one day. The did an excellent job, and left the apartments super clean. No nails left over! Not only did they sweep, but they also vacuumed the place up. They also went above and beyond, by helping me move stuff out of the apartment and dumping a couple things that weren't in the apartment. The only suggestion I have for anyone demoing anything is to make sure you are there watching the whole time to make sure the right things get demoed. Getting in touch with them is a long laborious process, not worth the effort. First I used their chat feature on their web page, wasting a fair amount of time sharing my contact information and describing the job to be done. I was told I would be contacted that day. It never happened. The next day I used their online form for requesting an estimate. Two days later I received a phone call from Jessica asking for more information about the job. I called back and the CSR told me that Jessica was on the phone. They took my name and number and told me Jessica would call back. Jessica didn't call back. I called again latter that afternoon. Once again Jessica wasn't available to help me with my estimate or job information, so they took my name and number and said they would call me back. They haven't.
