I did a little bit of digging online to see a good plan for the day and I think we really nailed it. We planned our day around the 3 big shows. There is a Dolphin show, a sea lion show, and a killer whale show. We did all 3, and all 3 were a good time. It was a hot day so being in the "splash zone" would have been nice, but we chose the shady seats a little farther back in each case. Inbetween we did a couple of the rollercoasters and visited different animal exhibits. They really are some of the best coasters around. The new ride they have has Beluga whales at the end. That was special to see in person. The gals highlight may have been the mantees. They have there own above and below water exhibit to visit. If you go in knowing its not Disney, but an amazing zoo, it really is a great time.

Right off the bat, it's just a very different vibe from Walt Disney World. Parking felt like a free-for-all (we got lucky with a close spot), and entry was super basic--scan and go, nothing special. We got there around 3 and went straight to the Orca show at Shamu Stadium, which was actually really good. The park didn't feel too crowded, but ride wait times were still long. This trip was all about our son, and Sesame Street Land at SeaWorld Orlando delivered. Seeing him in his Elmo outfit light up during the parade was everything. Food at Altitude Burger was underwhelming--expensive, basic, and the seating area needed some attention cleanliness-wise. The highlight, though, was the animal experiences. The dolphin viewing at Dolphin Nursery had my son completely mesmerized--nonstop smiles, talking, just pure joy. SeaWorld has its flaws, but for kids and animal encounters, it really delivers. Final Verdict: 4 overall, 5 for kid happiness--because at the end of the day, that's what matters most

From the moment we arrived to when we left, everything was really well done. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which set the tone right away. They have a buffet for breakfast and lunch with a good variety of options, so I feel like most people could find something they like. There are also smaller stands with snacks, pizza, and ICEE stations. Now let's talk about the drinks. There is just something about a frozen daiquiri when you're by the water. Highly recommend getting the drink package and trying a few... or all of them if you can handle it. I loved how many different areas there were to explore. Seeing dolphins swimming so close to the beach was actually kind of magical. They also have a monkey island which I was really excited about. It was closed when we got there, but I could still see them from a distance and I loved that. The aviary was really cool too. Tons of birds, but also tons of people. They recommend going first thing when the birds are most active, which we did, but so did everyone else. We got there about 45 minutes after opening and the birds already seemed a little over it. Honestly, I don't blame them. The Grand Reef was such a cool experience. I didn't really know what to expect, and even though it's man made, it still feels really immersive. Some of those rays are huge and have zero fear. They will swim right into you. My guy had never experienced anything like that and he loved it. I also liked that there were shallow areas and deeper sections if you wanted more of a snorkeling feel. The only downside for us was the Wind Away River. There are spots that get deep really fast, and that day they were apparently out of floaties because people were hoarding them and claiming areas. Staff even acknowledged it, which was frustrating because nothing was being done about it. It made parts of the river harder to enjoy than they should have been. Other than that, everything else was great and it made for such a fun day. Also the bar swings were a highlight. Loved those.

The sting ray feeding was so much fun . The ambassadors are very informative . Trainers will feed the larger manta rays since they are larger and take vitamins but we fed the smaller sting rays which was a lot of fun. Also we got to feed small fish which was a fun treat for us . We first started doing this in magical midway, but when that felt too rickety and unsafe, we started looking for other parks, and that's when we found fun spot! I had heard from locals that it's a great local option over the big theme parks. Fun Spot was pretty great, for what it was. Free parking, free admission if you don't plan on riding rides, also a discounted adult pass if you only are going on rides with your kid who is too young to ride alone. The whole place was small, maybe the area of a handful of city blocks. And on the Sunday afternoon when we went, the place was quiet enough that we never waited more than a few minutes to get onto a ride. As we were only there for a couple hours, the cashier recommended the 4 ride pass for my kids, and the companion pass for me. But if one were to spend more hours there, buying the day pass online for $59.95 is quite a bargain. Not all rides were open, but the "big" rides that most kids want (the roller coasters and the go carts) were open. My daughter, who is not a big roller coaster fan, had a harder time finding kiddie rides that she actually wanted to go on, and she watched the go carts and didn't even want to try those with me driving. However, the place was small enough that I felt fine leaving my 10 year old son to go on rides by himself while I went on the Ferris wheel or the merry go round with my 8 year old. There are a bunch of food options available throughout the park. They were definitely more affordable than Disney prices! Most of the places offered souvenir cups with discounted refills, but there were also water stations set up throughout with free cups. I'd definitely come back if I had a few hours to burn and the kids didn't want to go swimming. Hopefully at some point, my daughter will change her mind about roller coasters, though!

All three of these together took up about two hours and then we were able to go to Cafe tu tu tango to get a bite to eat. This was a great half day experience while we were visiting Orlando. There was a parking garage and parking was super easy. By that time we left around 8:30 PM there were so many cars, but when we first got there at about 5 PM there were tons of spots. They do have parking spots you can pay for in the lower levels so it seems like if you're willing to pay there will always be parking. If you want free parking, you need to go earlier because this seems to be popular for nightlife. I always appreciate when there's so many attractions together that you can walk to. This place has quite a few restaurants, some shops and the attractions all in a contained area. It was very clean and when we came, there was a huge police presence, because apparently a couple weeks before there was hundreds of teenagers that descended to the area and fought. So the place was doing a really good job making sure that everything was safe. This is a place for both families and non-families alike.

I usually walk over from my hotel when in town for conferences. It's something to do in evening after sitting all day listening to speakers.

I walked through the warp pipe entrance and into the land, and that was a genuine moment. The colors, sounds, and scale of everything around me hit immediately in a way that was hard to prepare for even though I knew what to expect. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the music threading through the entire area kept the immersion intact as I moved from one section to the next. Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness is the ride to prioritize and the one that generates the most excitement in the land. I arrived at park open and went straight here, which was the right strategy as the wait times built quickly. Mario Kart is the other major attraction and delivers on the concept, with the Power Up Band integration adding a competitive layer that makes it more than just a passive ride experience. The Power Up Band is worth purchasing before entering the park if I want the full experience. It unlocks interactive elements and mini games scattered throughout the land that let me collect coins, hit question blocks, and track my score on the app. Without it I could still enjoy the rides and the theming, but a meaningful portion of what makes the land special is tied to having one. At around fifty dollars it is an added cost on top of an already expensive day, but for a Nintendo fan it justifies itself quickly. Weekday visits made a noticeable difference in wait times and gave me more room to engage with the interactive elements without feeling rushed. The land rewards people who slow down and explore rather than just moving through it as efficiently as possible, and there is enough packed into the space that I could spend a solid chunk of the day here without feeling like I had exhausted it.

Total time from weighing one group to the next was 7 minutes, 34 seconds ... ... again, that's for only two kids. Extrapolate that - only 16 kids get on each hour. Unfortunately, we went back to do the Ropes Course a second time, but it was either closed or not staffed.

However, the waits were extremely long. We planned our stay for 2 days strategically to allow ample time to see it all while keeping a 10 and 9 year old in good spirits without pushing them past their limits. The express passes are way over priced and the limits placed on their use devalue the purchase. For the four of us it would have added an additional 1200 to our stay. Not what I call "family friendly." The staff was not well informed which to me was a shock. We received comments like: "I'm not really sure but.." or "I think you can..." and these were simple questions about park navigation. The most egregious encounter with a staff member was at the "How to Train Your Dragon" show entrance. It was 99 degrees that day and we were looking forward to seeing the show to get a break from the sun. As we approached the entrance the attraction had already closed despite us arriving before the stated time. When I asked about entrance she was not only rude, she went as far as to talk about me so loud I could hear her when I walked away. Not at all what I would expect. If Universal is in competition with Disney, they have a long way to go. I walked away with a "wow" and not in a good way. The photo package was not what I expected. The photographers were not easily visible or present at all portals as suggested. A big disappointment as we paid for a service we expected to be delivered as promised. We were told from one of the photographers that they are only present at "certain times" of the day. If that is the case then it needs to be stated in the information before the purchase. We were given incorrect information on multiple occasions. When asked how we could access our pictures we were told we had to visit the photo shop at the entrance of the park. I specifically asked if we could access them online and she said no. Finally we found out that was not accurate, that the photos were available online. The worst experience(as far as photos) was at park close. We were so excited to actually see a photographer at the entrance. We got in line to have our photo taken only to be told, Im sorry but after this person(the people in front of us) we will not be taking any more photos. I was stunned that they were not going to take our picture. We had stood in that line only to be told something we paid for was not going to be delivered. I just stood there in disbelief. Another photographer walked up and I asked him to take our photo and told him what the other guy said. He apologized and said he would take our photo. There is really no good excuse for poor customer service. Honestly, we receive better customer service from our local theme part at home, a small local experience: "Kentucky Kingdom." Epic has been open for a year now, I would be more understanding if the park was brand new. This is a leadership failure that needs to be addressed. The staff should be informed to answer basic questions about park navigation. As well as, be taught how to deliver excellent customer service. Truly we were disappointed at how uninformed and neglectful the staff were at times. And I didn't even mention the low visibility of the park characters. Not at all what I expected for the price as well as service. The bar is set very high based advertising and promotion. It was not delivered in our experience of "Epic" Universal.

Plan to spend a lot of money to make this trip enjoyable in the summer…read more I've been monitoring wait times for about a month. Earlier in June, I think you can get away with being strategic and not buying express passes. However, the day before our trip, which was July 2, I looked at wait times and at 9:02 AM the wait time for Mine cart madness was 90 minutes. Early entry opened at nine so this told me that lines were going to be incredibly long. We made the split minute decision to buy express passes for my son and husband since my younger son didn't really want to ride a ton of the rides and neither did I. Now this is when you need to hold onto your seats, because express passes can be upwards of $300. When I looked at express passes earlier, it was $350 per rider, but it turns out it is dynamic pricing so the day before it cost us $280 per person. Think about that, for a family of four it cost $1200 to buy express passes. And the sad thing is it is absolutely needed if you're going to the park on a busy day. This is on top of Park tickets that are $150 per person. At the other universal parks if you stay at the hotel, you get free express passes, but not here. We were staying at the Helios hotel, which is attached to the Park and I'll review on that page, but we were spending a pretty penny for our hotel and then paid for Park tickets and then express passes. So that does add up. However, it made our day a lot more enjoyable the fact that I could take my younger son back to the room to nap because it was so hot and my husband and older son could continue to use all their express passes. Since we had express passes, we rope dropped Isle of Burke, which is what everybody recommends you do. It was absolutely empty, we went to meet toothless because that line gets upwards of 60 minutes later in the day. We breezed through and met him in about 10 minutes. However, at about 4 PM we went back and it was a 30 minute wait time so we decided to get back in line because my younger son wanted to meet toothless again. He was scared the first time. With the express passes, you can still end up waiting a long time, but definitely not as long as the regular line. For example, mine cart madness had a wait time of 110 minutes and my son and husband ended up waiting 45 minutes. If we didn't buy the express passes, the plan was to rope drop mine cart madness, but the day of it was delayed, so we wouldn't have been able to do that. This is why I'm so glad we got the express passes because it was an unknown when mine cart madness was going to be back up and running, but they got to experience it because of the express passes versus having to wait in ridiculously long line. If you rope drop Berk, you're able to do every single ride there plus meet toothless in under an hour. But again, then you wouldn't be able to have a short line for Ministry of magic or the super Nintendo world rides. My younger son and I went and rode the Yoshi ride three times in a row because in the first hour, it was always either five minutes or 10 minutes. Even though Yoshi ride ended up being 60 minutes at one point, which is insanity. The rides that were never long seem to be curse of the werewolf, Stardust racers, the carousel, and monsters unchained. So if you really would be happy only riding those three rides then you can get away without an express pass. The worlds are beautiful. There is strong attention to detail here. My husband did point out that unlike Disney, there are signs of wear and tear which take away from some of the magic. However, if you didn't point it out, I wouldn't have noticed. The Isle of Burke show, the untrainable Dragon is very easy to get into. There wasn't a full theater when we watched it. The Harry Potter show is different, because it is very popular. I highly recommend getting there 30 minutes before showtime because they let you get in line and the line is in air conditioning. This isn't a park that we are dying to return to, but I could definitely see us coming back in a couple of years. I just know that once my younger son is old enough and tall enough to ride the rides then I will always have to plan to budget for those express passes.
