We tried the tour and so enjoyed understanding how these beautiful pieces are made and I now have a much greater appreciation for their blankets. Understand these guys are not producing their own clothing though. So when we see "made in China" in their apparel labels understand what's happening. Pendleton makes all their own fabrics but send those overseas for assembly and if any country adds a stitch they can claim it as made in "x"... So don't be disparaged. Their wool's are amazing and each blanket is still looked at by a human being before it passes their approval and gets to their retail stores. So their three Mills are all USA and are amazing! So enjoy the products and go see the mill in Pendleton so you can understand what tee family has put together. Their employees are super friendly and knowledgable!! We enjoyed! read more

Came here a few weeks ago while on a trip to Pendleton. Had a blanket in mind we would have bought had the price been right. It was still a little too much for what we wanted to pay. Always check the tags to see where the item is made. Really wanted one of the coffee mugs but they were pricey too. :( read more

Awful company. As other reviews have noted, customer service is useless. Emails go days and even weeks without a response, requiring multiple follow ups. And when an associate finally bothers to respond, they're about as useful as a chocolate teapot. 0/10 experience, will never purchase anything from this company ever again. read more

When in Pendleton, this is a "must see". there are 4 tours of the factory on week days. the tour is free and it was amazing to see how these blankets are made from bullk wool to combing, spinning, threading machines and weaving all the way to quality control. they have many items of clothing, blankets, robes, back packs etc. the bonus for us was finding 2 King sized blankets that were considered "seconds" and when you saw the supposed flaw" it made it all the more better. plus It was a screaming deal for a king size under 100.00. the only thing wrong with the blankets we chose was that a wrong color was used in a certain pattern run. and it was beautiful. A dark brown was used instead of a dark maroon. I thought it looked better. SCORE. It was fun , and informative. read more

Final update: Received full credits due for returned items. Leaving at 4 stars due to effort it took to get credits, but eventually Pendleton did credit account. Pendleton blocked review on their site as I told the truth about their misleading return policy. Ordered 2 items in one order. Pendleton shipped each separately. Decided to return both items. Pendleton would not let me return together, charging me $7.95 FOR EACH ITEM, not the "$7.50 return charge" stated on their website. Beware if you buy from them. Also check BBB which shows multiple complaints which I didn't see until I wen to them for assistance with my issue (still pending). Increased to 3 stars as have finally been contacted and told full refund coming. read more

Someone needs to tell the employees that if you wear a mask it needs to cover your nose as well as your mouth or it does no good. The tour was still closed after two years. Being Native, I can say that Pendleton blankets are an important "commodity" for Native cultures. So, I would have to say that the Pendleton Woolen Mills is a bit of a "mecca". I've been there several times with the purpose of getting blankets for this or that reason. They give tours at the Mill, and they also have a store. The store has a blankets, but also a large men's and women's clothing area as well. A really cool section of the store is in the back. This is where they have alot of items on sale. Some have small defects in them, but if you root around you can generally find a good deal. The other good thing is that since this is Oregon: no sales tax. I was in Pendleton for business, and made sure to include a stop at this location. I wasn't in the market for a blanket, being on a bit of a budget that did not include luxurious wool blankets or any of the other gorgeous items for sale. That being said, when I spotted the stacks of "seconds," products with minor flaws, I decided to investigate. I spent over an hour looking through the stacks, armed with a handy key which detailed the flaws. I finally purchased a turquoise blue "Serape" blanket with a "LS" flaw, which means a "light stripe." The flaw was hardly noticeable, and for only $100.00, it was perfect for a new beach blanket. Imagine my disappointment when, after a few days of little to no use, I discovered that the edges were coming unraveled. It turns out that "second" blankets are simply surged, not finished in the same way as a blanket without flaws. I was extremely disappointed. I could not imagine driving 4 hours from Portland to exchange my blanket. Luckily, Pendleton's customer service is as high quality and legendary as their woolens. After a phone call, a helpful customer service rep located another blanket, detailed the flaw, (a small ink mark that I have yet to find) and confirmed the integrity of the edges. I shipped my blanket to the store, and within 5 days had a new blanket waiting on my doorstep. My only complaint is that I was required to pay the return shipping. With that cost, I was only around $60.00 from the price of the same blanket new. Had I known that would be the case, I would have bought a perfect blanket and saved myself the stress. That being said, I can't wait for my next trip to Pendleton and another chance to look for a gem among the discards! If you do the same, be sure to check the entire blanket, not just the flaw that is highlighted. read more

Disappointed to see a made in China tag on my quilt. Maybe my own fault for not reading the package it says Pendleton collection so I should have realized it was Pendleton design not made in Oregon. However I do believe it is unacceptable that it is in no way explained but allow the consumer to assume it was made Oregon. This 300.00 quilt will be going back today. The same quilt is available at other department stores for less. The blanket I purchased is made in Oregon and is exactly what it should be and is represented as it should be. read more

I ordered two wool coats to be given as Christmas gifts. I placed the order on December 7 and immediately received an email stating that I would receive another email once the items had shipped. After several days, I still hadn't received confirmation of shipment, so I contacted customer service. After remaining on hold for an unacceptable amount of time, I was prompted to leave a voicemail with a guarantee that someone return my call. I did not receive a call back. I then sent an email to customer service, left another voicemail and another email...I was never contacted. Today, I logged onto the website to check the status of my order. The shipment was sent USPS and is scheduled to arrive on December 27!!! If not received by the holidays, I will return the order. I am posting this review because the consumer should expect nothing less than world class service with the purchase of a "premium" product. This is nowhere near "world class" service and the public should know. read more

I've been a long-time Pendleton customer and owner of many of their products, so I was happy to visit the original factory mill and store in Pendleton, OR. However, I was horrified at the blatant xenophobia -- and the casual attitude Pendleton HQ took when I reported it -- that my family experienced while shopping at the store last weekend. I was with a family member and we both had separate transactions (he was in line on front of me). He approached the cashier and JULIE totaled his purchase. When he pulled out his credit card to pay Julie exclaimed "We don't take foreign cards. You know, because of your thick accent. You're not from 'here.'" She took control of the credit card processing machine and cancelled the transaction to make sure he couldn't proceed. He was stunned. Was Julie really trying to block a sale? It should not matter if my family member has a discernible accent. He speaks English fluently, is a doctor, and is a resident of the US. Furthermore, the credit card he was paying with was not an international credit card BUT a US-based card. But that did not matter to Julie, who let her raging xenophobia and nativism take over. I witnessed the entire scene told her she had no right to treat customers this way. She laughed out loud in front of me and my family member. I informed her I would make a formal complaint but her disdain for different people was clear -- she rolled her eyes and did not care. This came after we had walked in the store to witness -- as the whole store did -- JULIE berating one of her cashiers for having used her cell phone while on shift. The scene went one for five minutes. She was raising her voice and treating a grown woman like she was a child. It was embarrassing for everyone. If you have a managerial issue, and you are responsible for resolving them, then have the tact to deal with them at the right time and place. NOT in front of your customers. I heard some customers in another part of the store remark that the entire exchange was uncouth. I couldn't agree more. Little did I know this was just the beginning. When I left the store there were two attendants at the front greeting customers and requiring them to wear masks and sanitize their hands. I let them know about what had just happened. When I got to my car I immediately followed-up with Pendleton with several voice messages, emails, and finally got through to two agents from the catalogue number hours later. One of the agents diminished the experience I reported and another said someone would call me immediately. It's been several days and no one from Pendleton HQ has called to follow-up. I just called again and an agent transferred me to a manager from the catalogue division who nervously acknowledged receipt and quickly tried to hang up. I expected more from Pendleton -- and so should all their customers. I don't know what is more egregious: Pendleton employing and allowing JULIE to behave this way to customers (don't forget, she is a front-facing representative of your company so how she comports herself DOES matter!) OR Pendleton's inadequate ability to deal with this deliberately biased interaction, despite my repeated attempts to reach them in a timely manner. It's a grand shame Pendleton is too obtuse to see the gravity of the situation. I share this so that other customers see Pendleton's true colors (as you can see I'm not talking about their blankets!). ****** UPDATE: Someone finally called me back. Looks like there are issues with how this store treats customers! I asked to be informed about disciplinary action. I received an email to the tone that "we'll take care of it" BUT the lack of a reply to a second email I sent leads me to believe it was lip service and that the problem is much larger than Pendleton is willing to tackle. Support the Pendleton main company store or at all (other stores or online) at your own risk. read more

Waited a long time to FINALLY visit the Pendleton shop in Pendleton, Oregon. What a disappointment - not because of the Pendleton name/brand and items but the customer service! The gal knew nothing about what I was looking for, had to go get my "now" scarf from my vehicle just to show her that it is Pendleton and I wanted that type in another color. She could care less. Ended up just finding it myself when we returned home. Young people today just don't get it. They do still have it but maybe not in that particular store. I'm writing as someone who happened to be in Pendleton for another reason (to play poker at the casino) and stopped in to the Woolen Mills for the tour and shopping. If you are a serious Pendleton blanket lover I'm sure you already know all about this place. But if you're just a casual tourist like me is it worth going to? The tour is free and takes about half an hour and is interesting. You get to see a raw material, sheep's wool, go through various processes and end up as colorful, high-priced blankets. The exhibits in the room where the tour ends also are interesting -- Indian art and artifacts from various eras. The outlet section of the store has blankets and other woolens marked down as seconds. If you love this stuff or have always coveted one, I suppose this is the place to shop. It still seemed way expensive to me. And then there is the regular clothing store, including a lot of non-woolen stuff, made elsewhere and labeled Pendleton. Not sure what the point of all this stuff is, I'm not into the Western look, but there are some sale racks there too. The mill building itself is interesting too, take time to look it over from the outside. So overall, sure, if you have a free hour in Pendleton, stop in. read more

This is a tourist trap. Almost everything they sell here is imported from China or Mexico, not from this mill itself. The exception are the wool blankets, which are very expensive and not particularly stylish. Given that there aren't many things to do in Pendleton, you might wanna stop, but it's not worth going out of your way for. read more

When your driving long distance and you happen upon Pendleton, this store can be a nice break from the road, It is fairly easy to find and pretty close to the main road. My wife and I wanted to see where and how they're made, so we stopped in. There are items here that you will not find in other stores and outlets. We have a Pendleton outlet store at home, but wanted to see the original location while on vacation. Great customer service. And while they're products are pricey, they are made to last. Only the blankets are made in the mill. All the wool used in their products are processed in the US, but shipped to other countries for manufacturing and then sent back. Kind of a bummer, but still well made products. The tour was interesting and informative. Their onsite outlet has a vast selection of blankets. read more

The Pendleton Woolen Mill was our frist stop on a trip to Pendleton. We have a blanket that we really enjoy having so the tour through the factory was very interesting. Our guide, Kylee, was very knowledgeable when questions were asked. She was a very considerate tour guide and although all the machines weren't running on our visit she explained what they did in the process of making the blankets. I appreciate American made products and try to visit the factories as we tour different areas. Thank you for another piece of American history in the making of blankets. read more

This is a flagship store, an outlet, a museum and a working mill all in the same location. At last (over 50 years) we made it over this way on a drive through Oregon. The highway exit sign is incorrect. The correct exit is for the historic district. The building is charming, parking is easy and there are picnic tables on the grass for travelers. The current line is nicely displayed. The outlet for fabrics and previous season is in the back. We enjoyed the museum displays, which include Native American items alondside historic Pendleton Roundup photos and memorabilia of the Mill's founder. The fabrics are prodced here, but the clothing is constructed in China. Beautiful things. Great selection of the traditional men's wool shirts. The prices are in the middle, but the quality and design are definitely upper-end . The baby things are adorable! My rating is only 4/5 because the staff weren't friendly or welcoming. read more
