This trip we met the next generation of Pendleton employees. On the floor, young women. In the mill. I do not know. The seconds room and.store had a complex pricing system ranging from 25% off lowest price, two for the price of 1, 20% more off selected seconds at the end of one table, price tags with blue stripes. A young woman helped us out with questions, telling us how she inherited her grandmother's 7 year old Chief Joseph blanket. It is like new. The Bishop family, or some form of it has owned this company since it's founding. 1% of U.S. businesses make it to the fourth generation of family ownership. The Bishops embrace the planet to produce the Pendleton Brand. zFor me that is a hint from one of our nation's most sucessful families. We all need eachother to build a civilization for all. My first shopping trip here was 1981. A queen or king seconds blanket cost $100 or less. We have many Pendleton goods. I called a brother to ask his shirt size. He recited an inventory of the Pendleton products in closets and decorating rooms, gifts from us over a quarter century. He said, "No more." And, being honest, we are pretty much priced out of the beautiful goods we love. My first Pendleton shirt jacket was a $15 Christmas gift from a San Fenando Valley Western clothing store. When Ivsee the same shirt, made in El Salvador from U.S. fabric selling for more than $200, I just cannot pull the trigger and buy. I've driven through Pendleton more times than I can count. On a recent trip, I decided, on a whim, to swing through town to see what the place was all about without putting two and two together. It wasn't until I saw the mill that the light bulb illuminated and I immediately swung a right and found myself in the parking lot of the Pendleton Woolen Mill. As an artist, I can't afford their products. While expensive, I can fully appreciate and admire their care, craftsmanship, and creativity. Their blankets are simply stunning. I loved their little museum and am astounded by the history of this business and the family that still owns it to this day--What an amazing story! I especially appreciate how their Jacquard fabrics are still designed by native tribesman and woman to this very day. My only regret is that I missed their factory tour by twenty minutes. I would have loved that, but will keep it in mind for the next time I'm whizzing by on 84. A note about the negative reviews: It's hard for me to read negative reviews, because people are ignorant, entitled jerks. * All of Pendleton's woven products are made in the USA, dumbassess. * T-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts are not woven products, dumbassess. They're knitted, and if you know anything at all about the clothing industry, you would know that 99% of all clothing is manufactured overseas. * Why would they not charge full price at their factory store? It's still retail, dumbasses. This is a family run business that has given back a tremendous amount to the local community. A community, if you didn't notice, isn't exactly living in luxury. This company provides much needed jobs to good people who do their very best to make you feel welcome when you step through the door--If you didn't feel welcome, maybe check your entitled ego. Disappointed! No tours! We based our RV travel through Oregon on visiting the Pendleton Woolen Mills / store. I did not see online where the Mills tour has been canceled since Covid. My issues; 1- Pendleton items made in CHINA!Very few things made in the good ol' USA. 2- You are required to wear a mask. We have been vaccinated and 90% of the places we've been during our 4,700 mile trip are mask free, following CDC guidelines. 3- No Mill tour! 4- Limited sale items. Some of the shirts such as the classic surf shirt that my Dad wore in the 60's ( and I wore in high school and after) are $149! Some coats are well over $300. 5- The staff couldn't care less. I spoke to about 4 people. This is supposed to be a flagship store, one of the largest yet they had limited inventory. The Pendleton store in Jackson, WY had a much larger selection including pet wear. So so disappointed. read more

One star for rude thankless service. My elderly mother carefully selected a wool shirt but the cashier took it and crumpled it into what she felt was "folded," not once, but twice. I don't know why she bothered because the second time was a mess. I took my mom's shirt, buttoned it neatly, and folded it into a tidy bundle, clearly showing the idiot cashier how it can be done. Meanwhile, the cashier failed to say, thank you, and when I told the manager out front that I was upset that their cashier needed training, that manager was equally clueless, and failed to even ask which cashier it was. I know I'm an idiot, but I confess I cried a little while I pulled into the parking lot of the Pendleton Mills. I grew up competing in 4-H wool sewing competitions and anyone who had any sense sewed with Pendleton wool. So this was like a trip to the fabric holy land. Wisely, my husband did not go with me. Sadly, this is mostly a Pendleton product store. There are factory seconds in the back - all blankets, purses and scarves. All fabric remnants are sold in the store in Portland. Also, COVID had closed the museum while I was there, which was a bummer. But it was still well-worth visiting and I'd go back in a heartbeat! read more

A week after purchase I still had not received any shipping so I emailed the provided address, zero response. I placed four different calls to the customer support number and left messages after waiting on hold for quite some time. Zero response. Two weeks later items still haven't shipped and not a word from previous attempts to contact. So today my husband decided to sit on hold until someone bothered to grace us with their online presence . The agent was flat she clearly was not bothered by our experience no apology for the delay, no explanation for the shoddy service, or lack of communication. Just absolutely could not have cared any less! We tried to cancel the order as at this point I don't even want this order, and we were informed we could not cancel , so I said "well do I just need to wait to return this until it arrives, IF it arrives" the agent replies "yes, you will have to call to have a label printed and sent out to you then you may return". For a company of this magnitude to have such TERRIBLE service is shocking. I get better service at Walmart, which is really saying something! I was very excited about this purchase. I would like to thank Julie and the staff at Pendleton Woolen Mills for giving me some personal attention to my problem. In mid-December, I ordered a Pendleton sweater online. I am still waiting for it to arrive. I called the specified number at the beginning of January to get a status report. The recorded message indicated that they were having difficulties because of COVID and that I should e-mail them instead which I did. I then received a form letter telling me my order would be shipped soon and I'd be notified when that happened. If I continued to have problems, I should call the number which I had called previously. After more going back and forth between unanswered emails and phone calls with recorded messages, I finally got a USPS message indicating that my package had been given a label and was waiting to progress to the next location. This was in mid-January and there has been no progress since. Finally, out of desperation and frustration, I called the Pendleton Woolen Store and got to speak with a real, live person. (THANK YOU, Julie.) She and her manager took up the reins for me, trying to figure out what was going on. They're still trying to figure out what's going on (bless them) which only confirms my frustration. I have learned that others are having similar problems. To this end, I would advise people NOT to order anything from Pendleton at this time unless they deliberately wish to become frustrated. Often when I looked for the flaw I can't find it but the staff will show you where it is, and often it is minimal. The quality inspection is very strict and any flaw the item is rejected. What a cool place. We passed through this town on the way to Boise and wondered if Pendleton Wool actually came from here. Obviously we found out that it did :) There is a retail store in front that sells the normal stuff you would see at any other Pendleton Store. Then there is a warehouse style room in the back with all of their overstock, discounted items, and material by the yard. These items are mostly discounted because they are out of season or because there is some tiny flaw in the creation of the product. I got a $290 Twin sized blanket for $100 because it was out of season. It looked just fine to me! The stuff is still pricey but it is discounted compared to the original price. I believe I heard that the blankets and wool is woven in one of their 3 factories in Northwest Oregon and Washington. Glad I did see it and I think you will as well. It's actually worth it because I was curious about the Pendleton blankets are being made. It weaves spectacular works of art not just a blanket...spectacular ones...you cannot imagine....and many many to choose from. After reading the response to my review from Pendleton, I understand that we live in America where companies will do everything possible to compromise I understand that Pendleton is trying to make as much money as they possibly can, but I do not understand why they can't make their products in the United States and sell them for the same prices they already are at a profit, instead of buying products from China and charging 10 times as much for them. It is my opinion that Pendleton has compromised their reputation for producing American products by selling merchandise made in other countries. There really is no need to sell drink coasters, clothing, coffee mugs, dish towels, etc. for outrageous profits. This was an extremely terrible experience. I placed my order, and when receiving my package it was literally empty.. With a receipt saying "inside this box is your order" with photos of the items I paid for.. I called customer service (hold times were awful but it is the holidays..) and requested I still receive the items since the rep said they were still in stock. After a week I had no new confirmation or shipping information so I called back again (30 minutes on hold) to find out the claim had not been started and my items wouldn't ship until after the claim for my empty box was started. Another week later and I receive a refund... So my order in the end is canceled and the company takes no account for its poor customer service. I will not being buying an overpriced $90 flannel again here (that was a sale price too). Any suggestions for a better company happy to hear them! read more

Pendleton's National Park blankets, which come in twin, full, and queen sizes, are among the best bedding choices around if you want some warmth without a lot of bulk, and the color choices are attractive enough that you'll likely find several of them ideal fits. It is also nice to be able to connect a park visit (to Glacier, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, etc.) to a specific blanket, giving them a bit of a souvenir feel as well. The wool used is very soft, and smooth enough to be comfortable next to your skin. This is quality wool, dyed in rich tones, capable of lasting for years and priced accordingly. These blankets, 100% wool, are milled in the Northwest and retail in the mid-$200s if purchased at full price, but you can find "seconds" here at the Mill Store for around 50% off, making them a very nice gift from your travels if you're looking to surprise someone with a slightly damaged good. Each second has a small piece of tape attached with a 2-letter code, and the staff will lend you a one-page key to decode its meaning. Some seconds have small holes or stains, others have slightly narrower sides or something else, often minor, that caused it to be flagged. Inspect each piece and ask the staff if they have additional models in storage that are not on display. As long as you are not intent on purchasing a specific model over all the rest (i.e. "I must have that Grand Canyon queen-sized blanket, or else!"), you are likely to discover a pretty good blanket or two. I found a great Yosemite national park queen for half of retail with a minor stripe issue at one end, and otherwise nothing was the matter. They don't sew on the commemorative National park tag to the seconds, which is disappointing, but only for a few minutes. Once your discount-savings calculator kicks in, you'll realize the deal you're getting, but unless you're positive, just walk away. That's part of the outlet shopping experience here. You can always finish your Pendelton Mills stop with a coffee or cold drink on Main Street, which is a short drive away, or a walk on the jogging and bike path along the Umatilla River. If you manage to find a good Pendleton blanket to bring home, it will likely be around for years to come, and you'll thank yourself for having made the effort to seek one out at such a deep discount. A warm, well-made, all wool blanket manufactured in the USA by a historic company with deep roots in Oregon and the West: no, it won't change the world, but it will make your nights just a little bit more comfortable, and for that, I am grateful. I have always loved Pendleton products, and my partner and I were thrilled that the Pendleton Wool Mill was on the way back from the Wallowas. There was a 30% off summer deal going on, and with the encouragement of the associate, we picked out a few throws from one of the tables marked with a sales sign. I was going through receipts today and realized the sales discount had not been applied to the throws. When I called in, they told me that only half of the table we were at was on sale, and unfortunately, the side we purchased was not, although there was no clear delineation at the table itself. They eventually applied the discount, but with a warning that they would put me "on file" as people have scammed them this way in the past. I appreciated that they eventually honored the discount, but felt rather uncomfortable to be accused of dishonesty in what seemed to be an issue related to miscommunication and unclear signage. read more

I travelled to the Pendleton Mill Store for a beautiful King size wool blanket that was no longer available online as the Mill Store still had a few in stock. I left with three wool blankets and a comfortable cotton shirt. The shirt was on clearance and very affordable (yes, it was made in China ... I don't mind). The next blanket was from the seconds area with a captivating geometric pattern which grabbed me and hung on. The third blanket was a charismatic piece with gorgeous, vibrant colors (cherry, pink, fuchsia, purple); I decided to give it a good home with the others. The blankets are all wool and made in the US. The men's clothing was beautifully organized. First by color and then by size rather than the usual by size only. The associates were all friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back to take a tour when tours are running again. Great place. read more

Paid over $300.00 for our King size (Pendelton) cotten blanket washed it for the first time after 7months and now it's a queen size, won't fit our bed anymore. If we wash it once more mayby we can use it as a throw blanket. Don't waist your money...!! And Yes it says it's washable right on the care instructions..!! read more
