I notified Charlie of the issue and he was in a rush to leave the store and told me that the driver should arrive at my home at some point in evening. The delivery guy Victor showed up non-apologetic about his lateness. Additionally, Charlie did not have the courtesy to call me to see if I was satisfied with the product or to verify deliver! I ended up going home and researching other bike shops. Lo and behold - Bicycle Planet. I called them on the phone and they were able to tell me the inventory they had. They also answered a few questions I had about a kids bikes (this was a present for our son's birthday). I decided to take a little excursion to Syosset to check it out in person. When I got to Bicycle Planet, a guy named Diego helped me. He went over their different options and brands. The orange and blue Specialized I was looking at at the original bike shop was $80 cheaper here. All of their bikes were competitively priced. I picked out the Giant brand bike for my son because red is his favorite color. It is a beautiful and well-made bike. They were able to add on the training wheels for me since our guy is just learning how to ride, but he's getting the hang of it pretty quick. And of course - what bike would be complete without a silver bell? Once I had selected the bike, someone in the tech/assembly department spent a good 20 minutes or so inspecting the bike and ensuring its safety and that everything was in good working order. Diego brought it to my car and helped me get it into the trunk of my car - would definitely love a bike rack in the future especially for when we ride as a family because I think we all want new bikes now! Plus, Diego said that the bike purchase comes with a year of free tune-ups which is pretty sweet. The look on my son's face when we surprised him with this bole was just epic. To recap, in April 2021 I was researching various companies to purchase a Cybex 770AT Arc Trainer. I found a few options and the prices varied between them. This company (Rebirth Fitness in NY) made contact with me directly over the phone shortly after my online inquiry. I spoke with John Greeley, the owner, at length and explained our situation to him. I had advised him we made purchases throughout 2020 / 2021 and understand there have been delays in the manufacturing and shipping industries due to this year's unique circumstances. I expressed my fear of making a large purchase only to run into extended delays like our previous purchases in 2020. He stated their company was lucky and has not experienced any delays this year. He said 4 to 6 weeks lead time from the date of purchase was a consistent expectation for his customers. I placed an order for almost $4000 on April 21, 2021. About one week after my purchase I was following up with the company and began correspondence with Francesca. I was confirming that the 4 to 6 week lead time was still accurate and all of a sudden she said the parts they are waiting for were not in stock. She said the manufacturing / parts side of their business was at a complete standstill and she said had absolutely no timeline of when the parts would arrive in order to finish refurbishing my unit. I asked her how it could change so quickly from having no delays to there being absolutely no ETA to offer. She apologized and said manufacturing is hard to predict right now and said all we could do is wait. Originally the unit was estimated to be shipped on June 2, and I waited until June 17 which was 8 weeks from my purchase date. On that day, she still had no estimation of when the unit would be completed. I did not feel comfortable letting this company remain in possession of my money with no guarantee my product would arrive. In my opinion, this is not good business practice and does not make the customer feel secure. I truly believe Rebirth Fitness was continually experiencing delays yet tells the customer they are not. Once you make the purchase, they tell you manufacturing is not happening smoothly. They advised me I was able to cancel my order if I wished or the other option is to wait until parts come in. At this point, I did not feel comfortable waiting any longer and told her I would want a refund. On June 17, 2021 she processed a refund and advised me it would take 10 to 14 days for the credit to arrive in my account. In this email she also made a comment about my yelp review and stated it was not accurate and asked me to take it down. She said the only reason I am upset is because I'm not getting the answer that I want to hear. I found this very frustrating and disrespectful. I have outlined every detail of my experience regarding this company with full transparency. I gain nothing by being untruthful here. This is solely to save someone else from having to go through this nightmare. Rebirth Fitness are the ones being misleading, not me. 12 days after Francesca allegedly processed the credit I had not received my money back. This was on Monday, June 28, 2021. I reached back out to them and asked how long until I should receive my credit and asked for something in writing from the bookkeeper to prove that she processed it. Denise, the bookkeeper replied on June 29, 2021 stating it would be processed the following day on June 30. It took almost 2 weeks from the date they promised to process the refund for it to be done. I feel they only moved forward because I followed up about it and they would have let it sit even longer if I allowed it. Every single answer this company provides is misleading. No two people have the same information and everyone contradicts each other. Even after the refund was allegedly processed on 6/30, I did not receive it in the following few days. On July 8, I reached out to Denise again about the status and she then told me there was a glitch in the computer system, so the refund done on 6/30 was never successful and she was going to run it again. From 7/8-7/13, I waited for the final opportunity to see my refund. But it has yet to come through, I reached out to Denise again but they have completely stopped correspondence with me. I am now having to file a fraud claim with my credit card company in order to get my money back. I am doing everything in my power to make sure they are exposed and a true story is told without them trying to cover it up.
