I wanted to give a shout out for the quality and installation of the windows and doors (especially the sliding doors). Never buy a Pella product. Unfortunately, our house is full of Pella windows. The wood on our sliding glass doors rotted 10.5 years after being installed. The warranty was for 10 years so they would not replace them. It was a manufacturing defect but just out of warranty. We also have triple pane windows with blinds in between the glass. One of the blinds needs to be replaced. We received a quote from Pella for $650 - $1,100. The blind initially cost $50. The bottom line, don't buy Pella. You will regret it. read more

Let me begin by saying that Pella has a great product. In fact, we chose to buy Pella replacement windows for our family room specifically because of their internal blinds system - it's the best available on the market today. We wanted to eliminate wall mounted window treatments in this particular room, and Pella clearly had the best solution. So why the 2 star rating...? Pella of Louisville delivers a lousy customer experience - period! From not following-up on my initial showroom visit, to the actual installation and a couple of incidental spots in-between, the entire experience was harder and more disruptive than it needed to be, I won't do a deep dive, but I will provide a couple of installation "highlights". 1, Pella of Louisville will remove all of the windows in the room prior to beginning any replacement work. This is the single biggest "head scratcher" for me. Heck, outdoor temperatures were in the mid-40s on the day they worked. I had over 100 SF of wide-open exterior wall for hours! Even with 2 heat pumps set to "stun", we couldn't maintain a decent indoor temperature. The installers seemed 100% oblivious to what seemed obvious to me and my wife. At one point, with the room completely wide-open, the installer wanted to engage me in a discussion about interior trim widths! At that point, my head was spinning! I directed him to "button-up" my house before we discussed anything to do with trim. I'm sure we had hundreds of cubic feet per minute of 45 degree outside air pouring into my occupied house! How about removing and replacing one window at a time in cold weather? 2. I couldn't understand why Pella of Louisville had to remove all of the interior window trim, but as the installation progressed it cleared-up for me. The replacement windows are fabricated to be "safely" small. That is, there's about 1/2 inch of gap between the replacement window unit and the rough opening. This ensures that the installer can easily install the unit. Since the edge of the replacement unit is about 1/2 inch (all around) smaller, the interior trim, if left in-place, won't properly trim-out the replacement unit. As a result, the existing trim needs to be removed and replaced, leaving a "raw" edge of about 1/2 inch on the interior drywall side that becomes the homeowners problem to repair. (to be fair, the Pella contract clearly states that this may occur) However, given our very recent experience with a Pella competitor, the entire interior trim removal and replacement is an unnecessary process that simply serves to make it easier on Pella while adding additional cost and disruption to the homeowner. 3. On "day 2" of the installation, the crew was performing interior finish work. Even after my clear displeasure with having my house wide-open during "day 1", to my astonishment the newly-installed sliding patio door was wide-open while they were caulking - again with outdoor temps in the mid-40s! I walked-in and said, "Hey guys, okay if I close the door it's kinda cold outside?" By this time, my wife and I just wanted them to get the heck out of here. Are we satisfied with the final result? Yes. Was the entire process much harder from beginning to end? Yes. Can I recommend Pella of Louisville? No. This is a company that lacks an authentic customer-service culture. The folks in the showroom, the sales representative that visits your home, and the project manager that also visits your home for pre-installation, all recite the expected cliches like "I operate on a no surprises basis", but when a problem pops-up, they're of little assistance (in some cases, somewhat defensive). Other Pella showrooms in different locations may be better so this isn't an indictment of the entire Pella organization. Just understand what you're getting yourself into if you choose Pella of Louisville, that's all. Avoid this company. They are expensive and the customer service is awful. We had a front door and 3 windows replaced. The crew took the old door off and scratched my newly painted shutters and messed up my landscaping. The back of the door was not the color I ordered. The windows had some kind of black tar on them. The screen window they installed had a big tear in it. When they came back to replace it the screen was all warped. They scratched up my wall when installing the window in my sons bedroom. Other than that they did a great job. read more

Worst service ever . I dropped the lock with the office manager 3 weeks ago to match it so I can replace it and he lost it and for 3 weeks he is giving me the run around. Unprofessional. Rude. They need a new manager to understand customer service and how to be professional and honest read more

BUYER BEWARE!! Choose elsewhere on another window company who's reliable, professional & who actually care about their customer and product! Installed windows in September 2020 and still not complete! No answer on when they will be back and our last message from Pella's mgr Sam was " I don't know what else to tell you." Windows have broken seals, (fogging between panes) not even a year old! Been waiting months for them to fix their mistakes on the exterior, nails in trim, which they dented, inconsistent width on trim, loose doorbell wires and for the interior our window sill is unstained, (they say they do custom) they lie! The stain they installed is not even close! Uneven inter window trim and one is bowing from ridiculous poor installation! Their craftsmanship is terrible! It's been now over a year (October 2021) and still living with unfinished windows! They have their sale $$$ and that's all they care about! Oh and the roll up screen is unsafe! Rolls up too easily with a bump and now have a open potentially dangerous window especially with children! Save your money and your life to not have to go through what we have gone through and continue to! read more

I have 80 pella windows and doors in my home, most of which when I open, will not close back and seal. Several rotted within 5 years and we spent over $10,000 repairing and replacing windows. Of course according to them it was not their fault. They blamed it on our masonary that built our home. Never their fault. We just received a class action suit against them for the period of windows manufactured between 1991 - 2009, which includes us. Had to have Pella out to evaluate every window, they charged us $200 for that visit and are emailing us a quote on about 6 more that have to be totally replaced or repaired. I am totally disgusted with the entire situation. We thought we were installing the very best in our home. This has been a nightmare! I would never in a million years purchase Pella windows again! read more

I have called 502-240-5822 several times for the Pella Windows and Doors office on Bluegrass Parkway in Louisville. Despite multiple calls and messages to have a representative contact me, they have not chosen to return my call. I also called the Corporate Offices for Pella to report this matter and they apologized and have offered to intervene and have someone at Pella Windows of Louisville return my multiple calls today. I don't have a problem with Pella products ( I have an entire house of them) but whomever runs our local service department needs to be replaced. It took me over one month to reach a person regarding service. Then I got some girl that couldn't find her way out of a door or window if her life decided on it. In all honesty, one star may be too generous. Our house was built in 2005 installed with 20 new Pella windows. My husband and I moved in 2015 and were very impressed with our new windows...for awhile. After a few months, several of the windows would only open so far or not at all, and one of the windows had a broken seal, prompting a call to the Pella of Louisville. In short, I was told that I would have to pay $75 dollars for a tech to evaluate the problem, as well as a 4 hour window of time (pun intended). The tech arrived at my home and after a few minutes of evaluating the issues, he tells me the seal will be replaced under warranty and the hardware on 2 windows will be replaced at our expense, but the other 11/22 windows are due to settling/brick pinch and nothing can be done. FURTHER, it will be $150 ($75 x2) for the techs to come out and replace the hardware and window seal, with another 4 hour time commitment. Reluctantly, we had it done, but the window with the new seal was still inoperable. However, upon reaching out to Pella custmoer service, the buck was again passed and nothing was done to purported "brick pinch". Throughout the 2 years, now only 3/20 windows will open and one of those only to a point, 1 window is visibly rotted, and the rest will NOT OPEN. Not being prepared for the expense, we lived with it for awhile, internally and externally lamenting the "Pella Effect" or the previous home owner's decision to utilize Pella. Fast forward, to a week ago (November/December 2017), as we have been exasperated with our inoperable windows during this unseasonably beautiful weather, we had different companies out for an estimate on new windows. 2/3 of the big name companies (Anderson/Marvin) seriously questioned the settling/brick pinch allegation and stated that they make their living/replace many replacing Pella windows around this early to mid 2000 time period, and all of their customers receive the same settling spiel, which is highly questionable. Further, they warranty their installation for 20 years to a lifetime and don't charge any fee for service while under the warranty period. My experience with Pella has been negative, but I've heard some of their products are solid, however understand that their warranty and customer service are substandard ($75 dollars/4 hour window). If anyone is aware of a class action lawsuit regarding the early 2000 to mid 2000 windows, I would be happy to join. Thanks for you time. Buyer BEWARE! read more
