I loved sitting there with my coffee and reading my book. Our suite was the "Banana", which had a fairly large Jacuzzi. I didn't think I would be interested in soaking in warm water (hello, Caribbean!), but after a morning of diving and some time spent in the cold pouring rain, it sounded perfect, and it was extremely relaxing. It was a great preparation for my afternoon nap. We booked the LemonTree over the internet - the website was very web 2.0, showing real time booking status of each room. The online booking was itself painless. When we arrived in the afternoon of our first day in Rincon, we found an envelope with our name on the office door, greeting us and giving us directions to our room. We may not have ever seen our hosts at all if Martin hadn't gone to the public area to use the grill one night. The couple who run the place were both quite friendly. Speaking of dinner, we cooked all our meals in our room. The kitchenette was pretty tiny, and one of our burners didn't work at first (Martin reconnected it pretty quickly). But we managed to make some decent meals. Rincon has at least one decent-sized supermercado about fifteen minutes from the LemonTree, where we stocked up on groceries. There are multiple beach toys provided, including noodles, boogie boards, and floats for the kids. There really isn't much beach, though - it appears to have probably washed partially away over time. So there isn't a lot of room to lounge on the sand, but the water is easily accessed. I would love to come back to the LemonTree. Next time we'll probably trade the Jacuzzi for the suite with the larger kitchen. But either way I know I will be happy.

We reserved a table at the balcony right at sunset at 6pm. We arrived and promptly got thru the security and were taken to our table and it was the most gorgeous view ever. But no server or employee of any kind came to our table for over an hour after we got our drinks. We waited and waited and when we decided to give up and go elsewhere then finally a server came. So we decided to order since it was about 7:15 and we figured it would take too long to go somewhere else and order. My bf ordered the lobster mofongo in some kind of soup and I got red snapper in a plantain crust. Then again we waited and waited. I was so hungry I started trying to pick the coconut pieces out of my Pirata drink. Finally at 8:11 our food was served, And we were starved. I was prepared to hate the food haha but it was actually so delicious. So I guess come here if you are not starved and have tons of time. This beautiful family owned and operated hotel surpassed all of my main points when it comes to hotel cleanliness, customer service, noise level, convenience and purpose. I wanted to stay in a Inn that has both access to the beautiful mountains, the beach and the City of Rincon Plaza. The Lazy Parrot Inn is located minutes from the best Surfing beaches of Puerto Rico which are extremely popular on the West Coast. It is also located along Route 413 which is known as the Route to Happiness and folks, it does not disappoint. What is more beautiful is that after a devastating 2017 Hurricane season, the City of Rincon and the West Coast has been on mass overtime ensuring that tourism is quickly recovered in welcoming travelers from all over the world. The Inn which thankfully suffered minimal damage was one of the first Inns to have both power and water. I also learned from my pleasant conversation with the hotel Operations Manager, that the hotel Owners worked tirelessly alongside with the community in recovery efforts and aid. The Owners and staff of this hotel are passionate about being here and ensuring that all guests feel welcomed and part of the family, this is what attracts me when it comes to Inns and also ensures the reason for why I will go back. I know that many people are somewhat still reluctant to come to Puerto Rico, but I am being truthful when I say that Rincon has not messed around when it comes to after hurricane recovery and if you decide to visit, it will be worth it. Not sure why as April is shouldering peak season in Puerto Rico. That said, it was nice to have peace and quiet while relaxing in the pool which we had to ourselves for 2 days! On the down side, there was little to no staff. The bar remained closed the entire time. MINUS ONE STAR We did enjoy the Thai restaurant one evening! The food was really delicious. We had the Pad Thai with shrimp, the spicy papaya salad and chicken curry. Highly recommend this place as a lot of locals were in. This was the one time we did see a lot of people. ADD A STAR The room was nice and had a nice enclosed outdoor patio where we could hang out and dry our clothes after a day at the beach. The beds were comfortable although VERY high! ADD ONE STAR The resort grounds were very well maintained and I enjoyed strolling around taking pictures of the property and all the pretty flowers! Definitely a pretty place. Loved the lookout area that also served at the Thai restaurant. ADD ONE STAR No other food was available for breakfast or lunch but they did have a nice coffee station with many choices of flavors syrups and creamers/milks and teas! ADD ONE STAR They also had a game room for the kids to enjoy. There were also many large iguanas roaming the property where our room was. It was fun sitting outside our door watching them climb the trees! Parking was on a very steep hill across from the Inn. Be careful to attend to your rolling suitcases as we almost had one roll down the hill! Haha Overall the Lazy Parrot was a nice place to stay. Just wish they had staffed the bar! As for breakfast and lunch there are 2 excellent places right next door!

All amazingly fresh (we watched the chef purchase a huge tuna fish while we were eating dinner, it became the next night's sashimi highlight). It's very small (picture the deck around a backyard pool, plus a bar...yup, that pretty much sums it up -- oh, plus a little shack that constitutes the kitchen facilities). They have a really pretty lower "level" that includes more seating and the whole atmosphere everywhere there is quiet, laid back and romantic. Tip: The bar is "separate" from the food and you have to go to the bar yourself to grab any alcoholic bevs. They have a nice selection of sake plus your expected "full bar" offerings (don't forget to drink a Medalla!). Both the restaurant and the bar accept credit/debit.

Rincon's whether can be unpredictable which is why it is such a hot surfing destination. That being said if you can't be out on the beach or are not an avid surfer you really need a good place to hang out if this is your beach vaca. I could be at the LoveShack for weeks and read in a hammock overlooking crashing waves and enjoying the salt air breeze. On to the Sushi bar. It is NOT easy to find healthy food to eat in rural Puerto Rico. Sorry. It's like rural America. Fried, buttered, breaded and usually the only greens you will see are the garnish IF you are in a good restaurant. The Sushi bar is Sushi and you just can't go that wrong there in my opinion. They have a TON of choices and lots of them vegetarian. The Mango sushi roll is hard to get because it's seasonal, but it's the house favorite and easily their best dish. Lobster rolls are great, all of the sashimi is great... I think they get most of their fish fresh daily from the local fishermen. The Bar is totally hopping with laid back surfers and wanabees (like me) creating a fun atmosphere at night surrounding a neon lit pool and giant projections of surfers on a screen. It's kind of a tiki vibe on mushrooms which makes total sense in the context of where you are. Pools beach *resort* is an AWESOME home base for anyone looking to have a good time in Rincon. Especially if it is your first time. It's a great jumping off point and all of the staff will tell you where to surf, where to swim, what good places to eat are and where the best swells are that day and will hook you up with lessons or call the horseback riding place for you or whatever... All with that expat, dropout, laid back happy attitude you get when you decide to just kind of check out of the rat race and live your life. It is definitely a challenging course, but one that is incredibly enjoyable to play. The practice range is beautifully maintained, and the putting green is impressively large. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The ladies in the clubhouse greeted us with warm smiles throughout our visit, and the pro shop team took great care of us. We never felt rushed and were able to truly enjoy every moment on the course. Taking in the stunning coastline of Isabela, Puerto Rico while playing was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The scenery is simply remarkable, with dramatic ocean views around nearly every turn. My husband and I were smiling from tee to tee and soaking in every second of our round. I managed to lose both sleeves of golf balls along the way, but it was impossible to be upset because I was having the time of my life! We have played golf courses all over the world, and Royal Isabela is truly a gem. Then we proceeded to our table for dinner. We waited 20 minutes for water, then had to remind the waiter for our wine we had ordered (a 30 minute wait) and then to top that off, our main course arrived an hour later. There was absolutely nothing special about this experience. No one on the staff tried to make up for any of this. We will not likely return. What a disappointment.
