This review is going to be long because I stayed here for a week with my family. This included a 7 month old baby, my aunt and her husband, my brother, his wife, my mother, and my boyfriend. With regards to the actual accommodations, we rented both of the 2 bedroom apartments so we had a total of 4 bedrooms that included 2 queen beds and 4 twin beds. They were connected by a laundry room with a washer and dryer we had access to, but could be locked from inside the apartment if we didn't want anyone from the other side coming in. There was also a pull out couch in each apartment, so total we could have slept way more people than actually stayed.
The apartments were absolutely suitable for the price (the least expensive in the area we could find), I wish I took pictures of the location it was beautiful. Before we walked in after reading the other reviews online, I was a bit worried, but once we saw the apartments we were very impressed. Besides the couches and beds, there was a dining set in each apartment and comfortable chairs in the living area and an air conditioner in each bed room.
Everything was well kept, but there were some things that could have used a deep cleaning like the fridges - they had mold around the door seal. There was also an ant problem but I forgive this b/c it was Puerto Rico in July, it doesn't matter where you stay, there will be ants. We took care of this by spraying bug spray on the steps leading up to the house and all the cracks we could find regularly. We also controlled them by making sure we kept all the food in the fridges.
Outside there were benches and tables for each apartment as well as two stone grills, but only one had an actual grill for putting the food on. It was perfect for us since we rented both apartments and BBQ'd a lot. Inside, we had one double burner and one single burner. The double burner worked fine, and the single burner took some time to actually get hot.
We had to buy dish soap and hand soap for the apartments, and I brought shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and all my other toiletries. Also, we bought paper towels, toilet paper, sponges, and anything else we needed for the week since only enough for the first couple days was included. There were plates, bowls, cups, silverware, pots, and pans in the cupboards.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay in Rincon, that isn't high maintenance. While it was walking distance to another bar besides their sushi restaurant, it was totally quiet at night. Right across the street was an entrance to the beach, and if we walked 3-5 minutes down the street, there was a much nicer swimming area. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because this place is pretty laid back when it comes to the business side of things. The owners seem to be on vacation a lot, I would send emails and it took some time for a response. There's also no check in, make sure you let them know when you expect to arrive. We got there around 9 pm b/c we drove from San Juan and I was lucky I called around 8:30 to get directions. The owners had left for the day, their daughter answered and was able to give me directions. She also contacted them and had them meet us to let us in the apartments.
The first night we got there the sushi restaurant wasn't open so we had the pool to ourselves. We didn't know where the lights were so, it was mostly ambient lighting and our cell phones to show us the way. However, it was really nice to be the only people at the pool, we brought our own beers and hung out for a couple hours before going to bed. The restaurant didn't open until 4:30 or 5 each day so until then the pool was pretty private. Once the restaurant was open it was a bit strange to use it, but we were usually eating dinner at that time so it didn't matter. The restaurant closes early too, so we had the pool to ourselves once they shut down for the night.
We went to the sushi restaurant once, but weren't impressed with the service or the cost of drinks (the were expensive for the size and what you got). The staff had an air of arrogance that came across when you tried to talk to them. They were too busy talking too each other or on their phones to really pay any attention to us. Also, they were a bit rude to my mother who didn't notice because she's nice, but it was really obvious that they were not interested in talking to her when she would make conversation even though they were just hanging out at the bar, not helping customers. Also, they closed before 11 each night, one night it was 9:30 and their daughter took the key to the ice boxes and they didn't have a spare. I was there with my boyfriend and they closed the bar while we were sitting there. They showed us where the lights were and left.
So to sum this up, definitely rent a room here you won't regret it. It's an awesome location, with everything you need to have a great time. read more
