Price gouging should not be practiced or tolerated. The order I most recently placed consisted of plain fried fish, 2 small soups, 1 egg roll and an order of veggie mei fun. According to the menu that was placed on my door a mere month ago, the total should have been under 25 dollars. Tell me why the price I was given over the phone is 40 dollars?! I've ordered from Peking Restaurant many times. They are a solid choice for good Chinese food. The Place: Tiny. There's room for only one or two people to dine in. A line could form that would stretch outside. Cleanliness is comparable to that of the average Chinese take-out restaurant - that grimey, sticky feel - but I haven't noticed anything huge to complain about. There are some cool quotes and pictures on the wall. The Food: When I first ordered from them, I thought their food was one of the better ones out there. The honeymoon phase is long gone but they remain a solid and reliable pick. Their food is mostly delivered fresh. I can't remember a time when I complained about the food (a wrong order, sure). Their menu is pretty standard, but it has some nice surprises, like Pan Fried Noodles - a favorite of mine at dine-in restaurants. Personal favorites are the Beef with Brocolli (the beef mostly comes tender), the Sesame Chicken (one time it came so perfectly crunchy), and Chicken with Mushrooms. I almost forgot about their Crab Rangoon, which is always hot and creamy inside. 4/5. The People: Not much to complain about. The regular lady who fronts the place seems intimidating but I've never had a problem. I keep it all smiles - as you always should - and I just remember how hard her job is. I went to pick up my order in person and paid with $20. The lady that's always there was the one counting my change. I was looking at her right across the counter and saw her hesitate for like a millisecond --totally not noticeable if I wasn't paying specific attention to her--and leave a solid $5 in there. I often just grab the money and put it in my pocket while walking out--if I had done that I wouldn't have know she jipped me until I checked the change which honestly I never really do. I'm stressing this because I don't think she doesn't this to everyone, just sneaks it in here and there. I almost didn't say anything because I suckkkk at doing math in my head and was thinking that I calculated wrong--but I ended up asking her "wasn't the cost like $8?" And quick as flash she was like "uh yea yea," and picked up the $5 like it was just a momentary lapse in judgement. This woman is whip smart and good with money. She manages much larger crowds very efficiently, juggling payments from multiple people and gets it right. I've seen this over the years so I knew with that small hesitation in her movement that it was a conscious action. 2. We often get delivery so while I made the order for like $22 someone else went to the door to pay for it. The delivery guy told him the order was actually $27 (I was not around or I definitely would have called his bullshit) and because he was just going on what I told him--he thought maybe he heard wrong and paid for the meal plus tip. So this guy walked away with $30 for a $22 meal. When I found out I called the restaurant and who would you know picked up but the lady from #1. I explained the situation and 1. She did not seem surprised, rather she tried to make up some kind of excuse or whatever. I asked for his name and she literally dodged giving it to me 3x. Shady as heck. So yea--the food isn't bad and truthfully I don't think they try nip all of their customers (again none of this happened until like late 2017 and early 2018). Maybe they target people they know are so used to them and trust them that they'd let it slide ‍. My tip--if you buy from them be careful with your money. At the end of the day it's just a few bucks but I'd rather donate those few bucks if I'm giving money away, not people like this. read more

I did not get food poisoned here unlike two other restaurants in Queens. We used to go to one spot in Fresh Meadows. The prepared food initially was spot on. After our second visit..we had noticed the amount of oil that was leaking from the egg rolls...gross!!! Wifey and I said, "Fresh Meadows Chinese restaurants have nothing on Queens Village Chinese restaurants!" My recommendation..each time that you order..make sure you give Suki your name. She's the best one you should order from...just to make sure you get what you order. She will remember the type of food that you usually get. Her memory is impressive. For example, the first time I had ordered vegetable brown rice with no mushrooms for my wife...on the next visit..Suki had remembered and was like "Oh yes..I remember you...you're the one who didn't like mushrooms." On Friday and Saturday nights, the place is always packed with customers (which is good so that you know the food is constantly moving). Trust me..you won't be disappointed. The fees are reasonable. When I visit a new chinese restaurant..I order either sweet n sour chicken, general tso or sesame chicken since I can tell the quality of the place as a whole based on how they cook those dishes. Here at the Peking Restaurant, when I ask for pineapples and green peppers with my sweet n sour chicken..Suki always says, "No Problem!". Unlike other chinese restaurants who tell me, "Oh no..there is no pineapples and peppers in that dish." How can they tell me they don't add that? Yes, actually questioning her. We live 2 minutes from the store, you don't even need to drive here you can walk it over. Very tasty food, plentiful portions, prices lower than comparable spots in Flushing, with similar quality. We went to visit Grandma recently and brought her a selection, and she loved the chicken and eggplant. She's 93 and fairly picky, so our compliments to the chef! I went to Peking based on the really good reviews found on this site. Well, something catestrophic must have happened fairly recently because my experience was far different. I ordered a combination (chicken with garlic sauce), wonton soup, steamed vegetables, and an egg roll. The fried rice in the combination was so saturated with oil, it was like rice pudding. The egg roll had absorbed enough oil, I actually was able to drain 2 tablespoons of oil out of it. The broth in the soup was salty and tasteless, and the wontons had a "funny" flavor to them. The chicken with broccoli was swimming in a greasy, salty sauce that came very close to rendering the broccoli as inedible. How can you kill steamed vegetables? Oversteam them and serve them with another oil-based slick-on-the-top (garlic?) sauce. To add insult to injury, they forgot (and Chinese take-outs never forget) the can of soda that should have come with the combination. I should look at it on the bright side...they could have given me a second egg roll instead of nothing at all!!! On the bright side, I must say, they DO have one of the cleaner Chinese open kitchens I have seen. Too bad the food is so not good! read more

I'm a Queens native and this was by far the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I kept it simple with my order of chicken wings and French fries and an egg drop soup. The chicken wings had enough feathers fried on them to fly off the plate like a bald eagle and perch on the highest storefront. They were literally inedible. That many feathers means you didn't clean the chicken at all. The fries tasted like wine bottle cork. Ketchup didn't help at all. So I fed the fries to the birds. Their chicken wings are AMAZING- sooooo well seasoned and juicy (I usually ask for them well done). I also really love their chicken or shrimp with broccoli and garlic sauce. I'm assuming she's one of the owners because she's literally always there lol, but Suki (sp?) is accommodating and friendly and she always remembers your address if you order often enough for her to remember your voice. Peking Restaurant has been around for years. I would measure since the late 80's/early 90's. The food is consistent. It is your standard Americanized Chinese take out. I have tried almost all of the take outs in the area and I find Peking to be one of the better ones. Try the sesame chicken and shrimp toast if you are not on a diet. read more

This is definitely one of the better Chinese-American fast food joints. The food is fantastic. Chicken and broccoli FTW! Lo mein, fried rice, and I can go on and on. I'm addicted to the fried shrimp, which they make completely differently from other places: not too much breading and for some reason it's pounded flat. The woman up front is really friendly and very honest! One time I forgot to take my change and I swear, this woman ran out and chased me down the block just to give me my $1! Now THAT is honesty! Very tasty food, ordered onion rings, I usually get the buffalo wings and fries. It was so busy today, I can understand why, because the food is very tasty. There are a few other restaurants next to it, but I have to say this is one of my favorites. The buffalo wings are seasoned, spicy but not too spicy, I like my food to be spicy so I ask for extra hot oil and sauce. The best part is that the people who work there are not cheap, they will give you extra duck sauce or soy sauce, hot oil if you need it. I hate cheap people, if I'm paying and ordering food, I expect the service to be exceptional.
