    Shrimp with Lobster Combination Slurp.
    Carlo O.

Shrimp with Lobster Combination Slurp. Pleasant place to dine. I normally eat a late lunch so nice to find an empty restaurant all to myself. Very friendly owner and good conversation. My food was very good. Large shrimps and first time I saw shrimp in the Hot n Sour soup which was very tasty. Overall I enjoyed dining here.

The weekend buffet price was fairly reasonable for $20.95. There is a huge amount of sushi flavors, seafood, salad, soup, hibachi, Asian cuisine, fruit, and dessert options. Some of my favorites were the California sushi roll, chicken broccoli, and pastries. I enjoyed everything and it was plentiful. The staff took care of us and refilled our drinks as needed. They removed the plates as necessary and checked on us to make sure we were happy with everything. The waiter informed us there was gratuity added on our bill because of the size of our group. Most restaurants wouldn't inform the customers about that and a lot of people would add an additional tip by mistake without thinking about it. All of us had a great time for lunch!

However, Chinese buffets is my wife's sweet spot and so here we are at Mikata. Atmosphere: if you have ever been to a Chinese buffet, you know the look... functionally efficient cafeteria. Definitely not a mood environment. As with all buffets, it had tons of people moving through the lines to gather as much food as they could. Service: As with the atmosphere, it was functionally efficient. Although I must admit, our server did talk with us and had a great smile. Food: Ah the food. I never like buffets because the food is usually underdone when it first comes out and becomes overdone as it sits and waits to be picked on. However, even though I don't like Chinese buffets, because I visit them often (for my lovely bride) I've become quite experienced of the genre. And if you compare the Mikata buffet with other buffet' s, I must say, this one is as good as it gets. The crab Rangoon was small but amply filled with cheese. The ribs were juicy, and the peel and eat shrimp were top notch. As a bonus, they even offered asparagus instead of the usual broccoli or green beans. My favorite offering was the roasted duck. It was juicy without being fatty, absolutely the best I've had in a Chinese buffet. Even the ice cream tasted better than most. Price: Here is the best thing about Mikata. Where else can you get an all you can eat dinner for $17.00 per person! Even McDonalds will cost you more than that! The Bottom Line: As always my "customer so what" is would I come back? Knowing my wife's proclivity towards Chinese buffets, you can bet on it. However, because of the price and quality, she won't hear my usual complaints.

The…read morefried rice, General chicken, and some of the meat dishes are decent, but just about everything else in the buffet is extremely subpar. The wait staff is very friendly, but they look overworked. Frankly I feel bad for them, having to constantly clean up this mess. The place looks aged and could definitely use some renovations. I came in to eat at the very end of their lunch rush on a Sunday, which could have been a judging factor for the 2 stars. Not sure, but I probably won't be coming back.

A Royal Decree of Disappointment: King's Super Buffet I…read moregave King's Super Buffet two stars, and frankly, that is an act of staggering generosity. Those stars belong entirely to our server, who was a beacon of professional excellence in a sea of culinary despair. If I were rating the food alone, I'd be looking for a way to award negative numbers. Let's start with the "Sushi Bar," a term used here with the kind of audacity usually reserved for bank heists. Calling this a sushi bar is like calling a box of crayons a fine art gallery. What we had was a monotonous parade of Krab Rolls. Krab with a 'K.' The Variety: Krab with rice, Krab with seaweed, Krab with... more Krab. The Verdict: There was no actual fish to be found. For the sake of consumer protection and linguistic accuracy, management should immediately rename this the Roll Station. Or perhaps "The Krab Cubicle." The rest of the buffet was a grim museum of what happens when food loses its will to live. Imagine a vast, echoing hall--nearly empty of people but filled with the ghosts of better meals. The four food stations offered a texture palette that ranged from "industrial ceramic" to "damp sponge." Temperature: Everything was "luke-warm at best," which is the exact temperature required to encourage bacterial growth while discouraging human enjoyment. Texture: The selections were hard, stale, and seemingly petrified. I wasn't sure if I should eat the General Tso's or use it to patch a hole in my drywall. The Facilities: Then, there is the men's room. I won't go into graphic detail, but I will say this: I sincerely hope the kitchen is cleaner than the restroom. If the sanitation standards are consistent across the building, we aren't just looking at a bad dinner; we're looking at a biological hazard. The Bottom Line: Do not waste your time. Do not waste your hard-earned money. And for the love of all that is holy, do not waste your intestinal tract. King's Super Buffet is a kingdom in decline, and the only thing "Super" about it is the speed at which you should drive past it. Give the server a raise, then burn the rest for the insurance money.

So we came here for a large party…read more We walked in and were immediately greeted and explained we were here for the party. We sat down and chatted for a bit. Then met our waiter and waitress. We ordered water. We were then asked about ordering our food. Water still had not come so we ordered our food. The thing about this place which is cool is it's all you can eat but instead of you walking up you order and get it. The menu is very large and busy. But I ordered the custard bun, chicken wings, tuna toro belly, and something else to start. We then got our food. The waters still haven't come. Eventually after roughly 12 min after getting our food we got the water. The toro belly was good. Never had it before so have nothing to compare it to. The custard bun seemed old. Not fluffy on outside custard seemed old inside which if they were re-used from the night before fine but the rating counts under it. The chicken wings were nothing to write home about. I then ordered Mongolian beef, the crystal shrimp dumpling, ny strip hibachi, ginger salad, and toro belly again. The ny strip was forgotten and never brought to me, the Mongolian beef was spicy and the beef you could tell was cheap or old, the ginger salad wasn't ginger. It was like a creamy dressing with salad. The crystal shrimp was good but then apparently they made 3 orders by accident. The Toro belly was good. I ordered a few more things. Water, I needed a refill but took a very long time to get. With dessert; the fried Oreos are good. Ice cream was good. I tried my wife's ny strip, which I liked. Not season well. I tried her honey chicken which was thick. Overall a 4 is a very solid and fair score.
